4 terrorists, including high value target, killed in Kech operation: ISPR

Security forces killed four terrorists, including a “high-value target”, during an exchange of fire in Balochistan’s Kech district, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.

According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the general Balgatar area of Kech District on the “reported presence of terrorists”.

“During [the] conduct of the operation, after an intense fire exchange between own troops and the terrorists, four terrorists including a high-value target, terrorist ring leader Sana [alias] Baru were killed,” the statement said.

It added that the killed terrorist was a focal recruitment agent, “especially suicide bombers, for the so-called Majeed Brigade in District Kech and was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.”

A sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.

Pakistan’s security forces “remain determined to thwart attempts of sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan,” the statement said.

The country has lately witnessed a sharp uptick in the number of attacks targeting security forces, other law enforcement agencies, and security checkpoints, particularly in Balochistan and KP.

Attacks escalated after the TTP broke a fragile ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022 and vowed to target security forces.

Last Sunday, security forces killed 10 terrorists and injured eight others during three different engagements in North Waziristan.

On Nov 7, security forces killed five terrorists during an exchange of fire in South Waziristan, while four soldiers were martyred in the operation.

In another incident on Nov 4, security forces killed seven terrorists in separate operations, with one terrorist killed in Balochistan and the other six killed during two operations in KP.

Likewise, on November 2, four terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation in KP’s South Waziristan region.

Wikipedia: Robin Hood - Robin Hood was a heroic outlaw in English folklore - A highly skilled archer and swordsman, he is known for "robbing from the rich and giving to the poor" assisted by a group of fellow outlaws known as his "Merry Men

There are a number of theories that attempt to identify a historical Robin Hood. A difficulty with any such historical search is that "Robert" was in medieval England a very common given name, and "Robin" (or Robyn), especially in the 13th century, was its very common diminutive. The surname "Hood" (or Hude or Hode etc.), referring ultimately to the head-covering, was also fairly common. Unsurprisingly, therefore, there are a number of people called "Robert Hood" or "Robin Hood" to be found in medieval records. Some of them are on record for having fallen afoul of the law, but this is not necessarily significant to the legend. The early ballads give a number of possible historical clues: notably, the Gest names the reigning king as "Edward", but the ballads cannot be assumed to be reliable in such details. For whatever it may be worth, however, King Edward I took the throne in 1272, and an Edward remained on the throne until the death of Edward III in 1377. On the other hand, what appears to be the first known example of "Robin Hood" as stock name for an outlaw dates to 1262 in Berkshire, where the surname "Robehod" was applied to a man after he had been outlawed, and apparently because he had been outlawed. This could suggest two main possibilities: either that an early form of the Robin Hood legend was already well established in the mid 13th century; or alternatively that the name "Robin Hood" preceded the outlaw hero that we know; so that the "Robin Hood" of legend was so called because that was seen as an appropriate name for an outlaw. It has long been suggested, notably by John Maddicott, that "Robin Hood" was a stock alias used by thieves.

Is Amazon Killing Small Businesses?

The Perceived Amazon Effect

As David and I spoke, he echoed some thoughts that many small businesses have also shared with me. Many businesses see customers come into their stores to learn, and then they make their purchases online via Amazon or other online retailers. The online retailers don’t have the overhead of a brick and mortar store. For one of the products, David mentioned that I can purchase it on Amazon for less than he can purchase it. Of course, in his local market, his Yelp reviews show how much his customers love his store and appreciate his value. If he was local to me, I would happily pay a premium for their high level of service and expertise.

3 Steps To Creating A Killer Small Business Content Marketing Strategy

Small businesses generally face harsher circumstances when it comes to planning and launching a marketing campaign. They have less revenue and capital, which means they’re more limited in the strategies they can pursue. They have fewer resources, which means their teams are smaller and less experienced. And they generally have less data and first-hand experience with which to strategize in the first place.

One of the best marketing strategies for small businesses is content marketing, due to its approachability and affordability, but creating a content marketing strategy can still be an intensive and intimidating process.

Did Aspartame kill Cory Terry?

Cory Terry Died After Drinking Red Bull, $85 Million Wrongful Death Suit Claims, is the title of a recent article in the Huffington Post that reports on a rather unusual death. Cory Terry downed a Red Bull when he finished a basketball game and a few minutes later he died of a heart attack. Red Bull comes in different formulations, the dark blue normal and a - supposedly more healthy - 'diet' or sugar free version, which is the light blue one. To be sure, we don't know which one Terry preferred. Was it the normal or the diet version that killed him? Betty Martini believes it was 'diet' and that the damage was done by a specific ingredient: the aspartame that supplants sugar in the diet version. Betty says she knows of other cases of athletes having heart attacks after consuming soft drinks that contain aspartame. She has been trying to alert press and authorities to the dangers of the methanol-containing sweetener. I am reproducing her lengthy email here because she goes into considerable detail. If you love diet drinks or know someone who does, read this or let them read it. The data might save your life. Here goes Betty Martini......

The Honeymoon Killers

This Belgian band accompanied me on an unhurried drive over the wiggly, downhill roads that split La Cañada and Pasadena the other day, and it reminded me I've been meaning to write something about them for some time.

A rather unusual group, formed in the early 70s, with an energy and humor that's reminiscent of the Rezillos', which is to say the blitzkrieg punk of the moment chopped up with various retro throwbacks. In the case of the Killers, it's more chanson and free jazz than rockabilly and Detroit garage, but both share a colorful zaniness.

In 1980, Véronique Vincent joined, and her presence brought a calm and elegance to the bracing, biting punch that defined them. They managed to get a few records out, including an album that's a real zippy and zesty delight, then broke up in '85. However, they did record another LP, which they eventually finished in 2014. Credited to Véronique Vincent & Aksak Maboul (Aksak Maboul being a group two of the men in the killer had), it's titled Ex-Futur Album, and it's a very good record as well, with Vincent channeling a sort of late-night and subdued Lizzy Mercier Descloux.

Skills the Online Classroom Builds for Corporate Success

The online versus traditional classroom debate has been going on for some time now. You can't get through one blog on eLearning or modern education without finding a discussion of the pros and cons of the digital classroom and online degree programs. The debate has been going for some time now and has seen many different facets and opinions. While online schools were shunned from the start, today they have grown and flourished into highly regarded institutions for higher learning. Today, rather than simply disregarding online learning as a lesser option to brick-and-mortar schools, people are beginning to see the two entities as options for different learning styles and lifestyles. There are many people who can benefit and really grow from their experience in the online classroom. Online learning facilitates many of the same skills traditional learning does, but has a few added elements. As our society becomes more and more married to the online and digital world, a comfort and ease in these areas becomes very important in the professional world.  The following three skills, essential in the corporate world today, are established and perfected in the online classroom.

Text-Based Communication

As text messaging, online instant messaging, and emailing become expected methods of communication, the ability to communicate clearly through text is vital in business. Proper etiquette in professional emailing and professional communication is very important. Though it might sound silly, text-based communication can actually be a very challenging thing for many individuals. There are those who struggle with communicating their thoughts in writing and who struggle with natural communication through text. Face-to-face communication is a very different game than text-based discussion. Online classes and online learning can actually provide a really strong foundation for text-based communication. Students have to use email, text, and instant messaging to convey any of their thoughts, ideas, or questions to professors and classmates. Online students gain an important familiarity with text communication and non-traditional discussion.

Flexible Learning Style

Above almost all else, online learning promotes a flexible learning style. Students are thrown into a very foreign way of learning and taking in information. The online classroom can take a lot of adjusting to conform to. This ability to quickly adapt to new atmospheres and methods can be extremely valuable in the corporate world. In business, there is a lot of fluidity and change. Individuals who are able to flow with change and new approaches easily tend to succeed in the professional business world. As an online student, you'll have to learn new technologies quickly and easily. New platforms are introduced and new classroom techniques are used depending on the professor's preferences. This ability to quickly adjust and learn is extremely useful in the corporate world.

Self-Motivation and Drive

Pursuing an online degree is often done completely solo. In many cases, students who embark on the path of an online degree do so on their own accord. Online students do not have the traditional built-in support system of a campus full of other students pursuing the same goals. This means that online students typically have to demonstrate significant self-determination and motivation to succeed in an online program. While you have the support of your school, professors, and classmates, the support is not as immediately available and apparent at times. This self-motivated drive is an invaluable trait to possess in the business world. Corporate leaders are individuals who can motivate themselves to really go the extra distance and succeed. Self-motivation and drive are essential in the corporate world and often found within online students.
