The Center for Humanities at Tufts (CHAT) invites the Tufts community to join us on November 14 for a poetry reading with Daisy Atterbury and Adrienne Raphael, moderated by Professor Sarah Akant.

Daisy Atterbury is a poet, essayist and scholar. Daisy’s most recent book, The Kármán Line (2024), investigates queer life and fantasies of space and place with an interest in unraveling colonial narratives in the American Southwest.

Adrienne Raphel is the author of Thinking Inside the Box: Adventures with Crosswords and the Puzzling People Who Can't Live Without Them and the poetry collections Our Dark Academia and What Was It For. She teaches writing at CUNY Baruch and lives in Brooklyn.

With an array of new features, this Release completes the alignment process with ETSI NFV specifications, culminating in native adoption of ETSI GS NFV-SOL006 for network functions and service modelling. Standardizing the onboarding process for VNFs into OSM fosters interoperability and boosts the growth of OSM’s VNF ecosystem. Release NINE coincides with the announcement of a new production deployment, confirming OSM as the most comprehensive open-source NFV orchestrator and a key enabler for zero-touch end-to-end network and service automation.

ETSI’s Activities in Artificial Intelligence: Read our New White Paper

ETSI has a long history of developing standards in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and systems that use and support AI. Today ETSI is pleased to release a new White Paper developed by a variety of members and experts. They include companies from telecom and network communication sectors, from large and small and medium enterprises, based either in Europe, Asia or America.

This White Paper entitled ETSI Activities in the field of Artificial Intelligence supports all stakeholders and summarizes ongoing effort in ETSI and planned future activities. It also includes an analysis on how ETSI deliverables may support current policy initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence.  A section of the document outlines ETSI activities of relevance to address Societal Challenges in AI while another addresses the involvement of the European Research Community.

The act of embroidering and weaving designs onto cloth is deeply rooted in Ukrainian traditions. Embellished clothing (sorochky), ritual cloths (rushnyky), and household textiles accompany a person from birth until death, punctuating important life events in between. A variety of embroidery patterns are used throughout Ukraine; some stitches are universally known, while others are region-specific. Ukrainian embroidered clothing is now officially celebrated with an annual Vyshyvanka Day observed throughout the world in May.

Predicting the future of the economy is always a dicey proposition. That is especially true after more than three years of pandemic-related economic weirdness. No one quite knows what will happen next.

Will the Fed be able to pull off a soft landing and bring down inflation without causing either a recession or a big jump in unemployment? Or will we end up with a hard landing, in which inflation comes down, but at the price of the country's economic health? Or, a third possibility, will the Fed not successfully bring inflation down at all?

On today's show, three economic experts explain what they look for when trying to make predictions about what might come next for the U.S. economy. And how those indicators lead them to very different conclusions. We will also consult a tarot card reader...to see if her reading of the future can help us know which outcome is the most likely.
