Awwdorable Otter and Kitten Grow Up Together, and Now, They Cannot Sleep without One Another (Video)

We don't know if you have heard of it, but some people out there claim that cats are not friendly animals, and we think that they are ridiculous for it. They don't believe us when we tell them that cats love their humans. They say that the only reason cats show us any affection is because we feed them and take care of them, that if we didn't, our cats would be just as aloof to us as all these cat haters claim. We know better. We just can't seem to prove it to people.

So, here we are, trying again, this time by showing them cats showing affection to other animals. Because if cats being friends with dogs was not enough, and cats being lifelong friends with birds, and kittens befriending pigs is not enough, then maybe a video of a cat and an otter being best friends since babyhood and cuddling every night to sleep will be enough to prove the cat haters wrong.

Heartwarming Hooman Spends Big to Get Their Cute Cat Life-Saving Surgery, Now He Looks Like a Derpy Cartoon Character

Hey, feline fam. If you're lucky enough as a cat pawrent, you'll never have to take your precious pets in for some sort of medical procedure in their lifetime. However, accidents happen, cats get older, and all sorts of complications can arise when you least expect them to. The surgery was a success (hooray!), and now the cute cat has an awwdorable overbite that makes hoomans everywhere smile. Seriously, it's absolutely silly and we dare you to try and not smile at it. It's just the boost of smiley serotonin we needed to get through the rest of the workday, so get your derp on and scroll down to see more pictures of this kitty cutie below. Have a great day!

Glorious Orange Cat Bleps That Are Every Bit As Hilarious As They Are Endearing

Hey all, we're probably well familiar with the idea that orange cats are known to share one collective brain cell and are, how can we put this, not the brightest bulbs in the tanning bed, but utterly endearing in their own right. We often refer to them as 'Cheeto puffs'.  A cheeto puff is a soft, tender friend, a cheeto puff will always be there for you in good times and in bad. An orange cat will always be your best friend if you can provide some treats occasionally and treat them like the precious beings that they are.

One of the more amusing gestures that we often find our orange feline companions demonstrating is something that we in the cat-loving community lovingly refer to as 'blepping'. Those who know, know, and are unfamiliar are about to experience a whole bunch of glorious orange cat bleps that are as hilarious as they are endearing. You are welcome in advance.

Person Adopts the ‘Mean, Hissing, Swatting’ Cat That No One Wanted at the Shelter, and after Getting Some Love, the Fluffy Feline Shows Her True, Cuddly Colors

Getting a cat to love you can take some time. We think that most cat owners know that. It's a rare thing for a cat to fall in love with its new owner on day one. Especially when you're adopting an older cat. You don't know what they have been through. You don't know where they came from most times. What you do know - or should know - is that for most cats, it's a matter of time. You need to give cats space and respect, affection when they ask for it, and snacks… like- all the time.

And eventually, when you do all of that enough… your cat will show you love. Now, that might take a few days, a few weeks, or a few years. As long as your cat is not actively harming anyone around it, there is no reason to give up on them. You just need to keep giving them those things, and when the time is right, they will make as big of a turnaround as this kitty.

22 Outrageous Original Cat Memes Bringing Fluffy Fresh Feline Vibe to Your Work Break

Oh, hey there working cat pawrents. Having a long workday isn't easy, but it's even less easy when you miss your cat that's back home right now. We understand this, we're all cat pawrents here ourselves. Even if we're surrounded by cat memes all day long, we still miss our fluff floofies back at home. But we have to say - having cat memes around you all day long makes the ache of missing your cat much easier. It's like we can still feel their cat energy all around us, all the time.

If we see a wholesome meme of a napping cat, we are reminded of how cute our cat is when he sleeps. If we see a sassy cat meme, we are reminded of the strong character of our cat that we appreciate so much. If we see a completely unhinged cat meme, we are reminded of how funny our cat can get. Cat memes are just great.

“Tarot for Creativity” helps writers and artists get through creative blocks

“My very first experience was in asking the cards about a novel I was writing at the time and it wasn’t going anywhere," says Chelsey Pippin Mizzi in an interview with Lauren Parker. “Up until that point, so much of my writing had been informed by visuals. And then suddenly there were these three pocket-sized pictures that were inviting me to consider creative ideas.”

napa cabbage wedge with miso dressing

If you were to make a multi-part Venn diagram combining my favorite salad things, you could nestle this right in the center. It’s one part wedge salad, the fork and steak knife kind, something I am so into I talked my podcast co-host Kenji (okay, it wasn’t hard) into dedicating a whole episode to it. And it contains cabbage, and not just cabbage but Napa cabbage, which I think deserves more credit as a salad green. [This can be convenient to know as it often comes in heads large enough to feed a small family for a week.] Napa cabbage is a little leafy, a little crunchy, and yet kind of juicy too and I’ve used it, sliced thin, in everything from this Italian-style salad to a classic Caesar.

Get It Together, Bakeries

Wrecky minion Aryn took this photo October 23rd:

OCTOBER 23RD.

So this bakery is selling Christmas cakes two major holidays before Christmas. Which would be awesome for pranking that friend who passed out after drinking too much, but otherwise... da heck?

And if you think Christmas Creep is bad, wait'll you see Easter Creep:

A pink Easter Egg cake... made October 19th.

Because it's never too early to stock up on "decorated" egg cakes in October, you guys.

It actually gets worse when bakeries try to be seasonally appropriate:

Orange icing + crappy turtle pancake = "Fall!"

White pointy-headed "ghosts" + anything = FAIL!

Seriously, let's talk about all the ways this is a bad idea.

Oh yes, please, put them on white cupcakes. THAT HELPS SO MUCH.

Speaking of not helping, let's talk creepy clowns.

This was also spotted last week.

::shudder::

Although at least the clown is recognizable. What about this thing?

It was out last week, so... Dapper Halloween Alien? Count Unibrow? Evil Mystic Muppet?

Oooh, "Evil Mystic Muppet" would be an awesome band name.

Thanks to Aryn W., Elizabeth C., Robbie C., Anony M., Julie R., Alexa M., & Jenny E for reminding us it's just two more months 'til Christmas.

*****

The only way I approve of celebrating Christmas this early is by wearing one of these:

Unisex Ugly Christmas Sweaters

Look closely at the "chestnuts" on the right, bahaha. There are tons more to choose from at the link, so happy browsing.

Sunday Sweets: Jen Gets Girly

I don't have a specific theme for you today, unless maybe "cakes that made Jen squee like a little girl" is a theme.

Oh, it is?

EXCELLENT.

(By Scrum Diddly)

Whoah. That bottom layer is done in a "billow weave," and this is one of the best examples I've seen. (Here's a tutorial, if you want to learn.) Also love the off-center flowers & color choices; just a gorgeous composition over all.

Speaking of composition, how great is this cheery asymmetrical number?

(By Bellaria Cakes Design)

Such a simple change, but stacking the tiers like this makes an otherwise traditional design so much more fresh and modern!

Now, just so you know, I'm a sucker for balloons. And bright pastels. And pink bicycles with little gift-wrapped presents on them.

(By My Cake School, click for tutorial)

Squeee!

This is another one with a tutorial, so if you can pipe with royal icing candy melts, I bet you can make this yourself! You know, perhaps as a gift. For your favorite cake blogger. [winkwinknudgenudge]

One thing I love about Sweets is that I'm always learning new techniques. That said, I have no idea how this heart was made:

(By Magical Edible Art by Nadia)

That intricate geometric pattern taunts me, you guys. I MUST KNOW ITS SECRETS. Someone explain in the comments, please!

If you look closely at this next one, you'll see little creases that almost look like sheer fabric wrapped around the tiers:

(By For The Love Of Cake)

Such a great texture! And don't get me started on that incredible floral swag. So delicate. So perfect.

I am all abuzz for these sweet bee cookies:

(By Sweet Art Sweets)

SO CUTE. And here's a first: you can actually purchase them on Etsy!

Take an unexpected color combo, throw in some soft petal ruffles, top it off with STUNNING hibiscus flowers, and you get magic:

(By Cake Central member micialuna)

Perfection.

Will I ever get tired of tiny bunting & delicate floral swags?

(By Sarah Edwards Cakes, featured on Marry Me Ink.)

NUH-UH.

And I'll never get enough of sweet vintage-inspired designs like this, either:

(By Mina Bakalova)

Mint green and pink paired with wood planks and a skeleton key? Who would dream up a combo like that?

I'll tell you: a GENIUS, that's who.

And finally, the cake that launched a thousand Jen squeals:

(By Corrie Cakes)

The colors! The teeny flowers & butterflies! THE HAND-PAINTED FAWN!!

I never thought I'd advocate hanging cake photographs as art, but this should be a wall-sized mural somewhere. It's just so... happy.

Hope today's post made your Sunday a little sweeter, everyone! Happy weekend!

Strange Beasts by Susan J. Morris

Strange Beasts is so much fun that the minute I finished the book, I downloaded the audio for my husband to listen to. This is a paranormal adventure meets gothic mystery with a sapphic love story intertwined in all of that. It has shades of Penny Dreadful, non stop action, and it’s just a blast to read. The novel takes place in an alternate Victorian era where paranormal creatures openly exist with human beings. Sam … Continue reading Strange Beasts by Susan J. Morris
