Stephen Bulley (2004)

Stephen Bulley is Head of MIS at the London School of Economics and Political Science. MIS is part of the Business Systems & Services Division, which also includes Web Services, Telecoms, Timetables, Conferences & Events and provides IT support to the School's administrative departments. Stephen runs the front line and application support teams for BSS, as well as the Oracle and Unix/Linux systems team. He has worked in IT since 1991 and as an MIS Manager since 1997 from a background as an Oracle DBA; first in FE at South East Essex College and then at the LSE. He has been involved from the start with the LSE for You student & staff portal and recently led an evaluation for a portal product to help take this project to the next stage. Stephen gave a plenary talk on LSE for You: From Innovation to Realism and Beyond.

Cameron Neylon (2008)

Cameron Neylon commenced a joint appointment as Senior Scientist in Biomolecular Sciences at the ISIS Pulsed Neutron and Muon Facility, STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in 2005. Since then, in collaboration with Jeremy Frey (University of Southampton) he has been involved in the development and optimisation of blog based electronic notebook systems for the biochemistry laboratories and the development of systems for monitoring and capturing data from the laboratory, the so-called 'Blogging Lab'. Through this work he has become a prominent member of the international community advocating the adoption of a more open approach to research practice. His group is currently moving to a fully Open Notebook approach where the research worker's laboratory notebook is made public as it being recorded. This process is being recorded and analysed in his Blog, Science in the Open. Cameron gave a plenary talk on "Science in the You Tube Age: How Web Based Tools are Enabling Open Research Practice".

Massachusetts Attorney General Publishes Long-Anticipated Guidance on the Revised Pay Equity Law

The Massachusetts Attorney General has recently published an Overview and Frequently Asked Questions (the “Overview”) regarding the amendment to the Massachusetts Equal Pay Act, set to take effect on July 1, 2018.  The Overview answers many questions that employers have been asking about this wide-ranging new law.  The Overview also confirms the importance of an employer self-evaluation, offering some direction on what types of evaluations are appropriate, and explaining how it could protect a company from liability under the law.
