Scrubs actor Sam Lloyd passes away at 56

American character actor Sam Lloyd - best known for portraying lawyer Ted Buckland on the sitcom 'Scrubs' - has died, confirmed his agent on Friday. He was 56. The statement did not indicate when he died. According to Fox News, in January 2019, Lloyd was diagnosed with a brain tumor shortly after his wife Vanessa gave birth to their first child together -- a son named Weston, according to a GoFundMe page for the late actor.

Doctors also found that cancer had metastasized from his lungs and spread to his spine, jaw and liver, per the page, which was created by 'Scrubs' executive producer Tim Hobert.

In addition to the long-running series "Scrubs," Lloyd appeared in a handful of shows over the span of his career, including 'Cougar Town,' 'Desperate Housewives,' 'Seinfeld,' 'Modern Family,' 'The West Wing' and 'Shameless,' as well as movies such as 'Flubber' and 'Galaxy Quest.'

Lloyd also sang in an a cappella group The Blanks, which performed on 'Scrubs' as The Worthless Peons. He also played bass guitar in the Beatles tribute band The Butties, according to Variety.

Tributes from the 'Scrubs' family poured in, following news of his passing.

The creator of 'Scrubs,' Bill Lawrence shared a behind-the-scenes snapshot of Lloyd, captioning it: "Thinking a lot about Sam Lloyd today. (Ted). Truly such a kind, sweet guy. He will be missed by so many."

Zach Braff tweeted: "Rest In Peace to one of the funniest actors I've ever had the joy of working with. Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together. He could not have been a kinder man. I will forever cherish the time I had with you, Sammy."

Sharing a photo of himself alongside Lloyd, Robert Maschio wrote: "Simpler times, happier days, the kindest man I ever met. Easy going Sam, Rest In Peace. #RIPSamLloyd."

Pune: Youth installs Sambhaji's statue in garden without permission

Fed up of the delay in installing a statue of Sambhaji in the eponymous garden run by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), a Pune youth went ahead and completed the job himself. He installed the statue in the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Garden and even took a video of the same, which went viral on social media. The Pune police later removed the statue.

In January 2017, the statue of well-known Marathi playwright Ram Ganesh Gadkari was removed from the garden by admirers of Sambhaji. This time, Ganesh Karle, a member of Swabhimani Sangathana, installed Sambhaji's statue there. A case of trespassing and creating tension in society under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered against him.

Inspector Arun Avhad from Deccan Gymkhana police station said, "On Tuesday, around 3 am Karle installed the statue. He then uploaded a video in which he warned people against removing it. As soon as we were alerted to the video, we removed the statue to avoid tension in the area and had to increased bandobast in the city. The municipal corporation will soon install Sambhaji Maharaj's statue in the garden."

Karle said, "For the past two years, the government and politicians have been delaying the installation of the statue. On the occasion of Shivaji Maharaj's birth anniversary we installed it ourselves." Sambhaji Brigade's Pune city president Santosh Shinde said, "We have been demanding the installation of Chhatrapati Sambhaji's statue for the past eight years but no political party is keen on pursuing it."

Vijay Mallya's son-in-law Samar Singh campaigns for Parth Pawar

The Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for shielding fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya, while his son-in-law is helping Parth Pawar in campaigning. Parth is the grand nephew of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, and is contesting in the Lok Sabha elections from Maval constituency.

Parth, 29, is the son of former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar. He is contesting against Shrirang Barne from the Shiv Sena who won the seat in 2014. The Sena-BJP alliance has given him another chance to contest, as he had won the Sansad Ratna Award.

Parth has often been seen accompanied by Samar Singh, who is married to Mallya's step-daughter, Laila. Singh is a businessman and investment banker based in the USA. Sources say Singh also handles Parth's social media. Asked about him, Parth said, "Samar and I have been friends for a long time. He campaigns for me like my other friends. Why should he be blamed for Mallya's wrongdoings? He is also returning to the US."

Singh was unavailable for comment but a friend of his said, "Samar and Parth are friends from Mumbai and know each other for ages. Samar and his wife are not much connected to the Mallya family as has been portrayed. Samar had joined Parth out of curiosity to see his friend contest the election and had visited few places with him to see the real situation. He has gone back to the US."

EXCLUSIVE: “I am very, very proud that I am his girlfriend,” says Kriti Kharbanda about Pulkit Samrat

Bollywood actors Pulkit Samrat and Kriti Kharbanda have been dating each other for quite some time now. However, they made their relationship public only during the promotions of their film Pagalpanti last year. During the lockdown period, the two have been living together and getting to know each other better. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Kriti talks about Pulkit and his qualities that make her feel proud to be his girlfriend.

Talking about living together during the lockdown, Kriti said, “It is so lovely. I have seen both of us grow through this quarantine. We have caught up on a lot of television, a lot of series we missed out on. We have been cooking, we have been working on ourselves. I think we have been working on how to make ourselves better humans. Suddenly the reality of life has stricken us and we are both extremely emotional people. I think that is the only flaw that both of us have that we are extremely emotional.”

“I have learnt a lot about him this quarantine and I can tell that and not just saying because he is my boyfriend but I have immense respect for him and it comes from my heart and my mind and I have never met a more caring and giving person. This is an opinion that can never change because you cannot pretend these things. I have seen him over the years even when I have worked with him, even when we were just friends even after we started dating. He is a lovely human being and is really caring about the people around him,” she added.

Talking about the change in Pulkit’s personality over the years, “I think acceptance is the key. I think it is only easy to change if you accept that there are certain places you need to work on yourselves and you're willing to make that difference to yourself. So I think self-love is very very important where you give yourself the benefit of doubt and you say, ‘You know what, I can do better than that’. So, I think that is something he has realised and I am very very proud that I am his girlfriend.”

I have learnt to accept my failures in last two years: Sanju Samson

He has flattered to deceive on umpteen occasions but highly-rated wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson says he has learnt to accept his failures in pursuit of the calm demeanour that former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni possesses. The 25-year-old from Kerala has always been talked about by the likes of Rahul Dravid and Gautam Gambhir but it hasn't translated into international success with only four T20 Internationals in his kitty in the last five years.

"I have learnt to understand and focus more on my strengths and (be more) accepting (of) the failures. I try to contribute to the team's cause and try to take the team over the line. I am learning to focus and control my emotions while batting like MS Dhoni," Samson said during a podcast organised by Rajasthan Royals. He recently made a comeback in India's T20 side and it was a worthy experience for him. "It was great to be a part of the Indian team again. To be a part of one of the best teams in the world, surrounded by players like Virat bhai and Rohit bhai, it was a fantastic experience," Samson said. In one of the games in New Zealand, Samson was sent to bat in the Super Over, something which made him feel wanted in the Indian set-up. "It was a great feeling to be trusted by the players such as Virat bhai and Rohit bhai to go out there and bat in the crucial moments. It's a great feeling when the team and the players consider you to be a match winner." On a lighter note, Samson revealed that he refers to Steve Smith as "chachu" (uncle) after Brad Hodge once started calling him by that name.

"I share a very good relationship with 'Chachu' Steve Smith. He is one of the best brains in world cricket and we all enjoy a lot playing under him." Asked what's the back story of the nickname, Samson said: "It started with Brad Hodge, he used to call Smith 'Chachu', then when Hodgy left, I started calling Smith 'Chachu'. In return Smith also started calling me 'Chachu'. We both really enjoy and continue calling each other that." While Dhoni is his idol, he also loves watching Jos Buttler in Royals and makes notes on how the star Englishman prepares for games. "I observe Jos especially given he too is a wicketkeeper-batsman. He's always working on his skills and his game and never sits idle. "He's either working on his keeping, batting in the nets or running around the park. I love to observe and know how he thinks and prepares as a keeper before a game."
