The one coming out today could be much more significant. NOEL KING, HOST: Right. Because of COVID-19, we could see the highest unemployment rate in this country since the Great Depression. GREENE: And let's talk about this moment with NPR's Scott Horsley. Hi, Scott. SCOTT HORSLEY, BYLINE: Good morning, David. GREENE: So how ugly do we think these numbers are going to be? HORSLEY: Very ugly. To put this in some perspective, David, the worst monthly job loss we saw during the Great Recession, the financial crisis, was 800,000. This morning's report is going to show job losses in the millions, maybe as many as 20 million. And as painful as that is, it's still not going to tell the full story of the economic wreckage that the coronavirus pandemic has been causing. GREENE: Why not? HORSLEY: Well, a couple of reasons. I have some mental illness/executive function/autism issues that make applying to jobs a particularly excruciating and time consuming, and I need someone to help look through listings, customize my resumes and cover letters and send them out.

We would meet at a cafe for a few hours each week to coordinate and figure out a strategy and a weekly schedule, and depending on what makes sense at the time, either we'd crank through applications together, or you'd go off and work through them on your own.

I can pay $40/hr plus a $500 bonus if one of the applications you work on leads to me accepting a job.

I have a HostGator-hosted WordPress blog that is on an increasingly outdated version of PHP and WP. I would like to transfer it to a new host, ideally one that is cheaper and that lets me stop worrying about details like the PHP version. Setting up HTTPS would be good, too. The blog itself is a pretty standard WP installation without much in the way of plugins and with no custom code or complex theming, so hopefully the transfer will be simple.

The Trump administration says their sweeping changes to Obama era guidelines will make the process fairer and help better protect accused students. DAVID GREENE, HOST: And there is a way to answer that. You test people - right? - for COVID-19. But are states testing enough people? Well, a Harvard analysis conducted exclusively for NPR suggests the answer broadly is no. KING: NPR science reporter Rob Stein has the details of that analysis. Good morning, Rob. Speaking about the inspiration behind the ‘Situations’ track, Bvnk says, “In a time where the world is full of one sided stories, and men thinking that taking responsibility is weak for some reason or the other, with women left having to deal with their toxic masculine energy, I wanted to take the truthful route on ‘Situations’. The song is about me looking into the mirror, taking responsibility, and apologising for the hurt I had caused. For the ‘Circulate’ visuals, Nápoles has collaborated with fellow Ladieslovehiphop member Namarijana, video director Gustav Andersson, and cinematographer Daniel Edin, to capture a portrait of a night out with Nápoles. The visuals showcase the vibrant energy of a Ladieslovehiphop evening, underpinned by laughter, love and community. Georgia Public Broadcasting’s new series What You Need To Know: Coronavirus provides succinct, fact-based information to help you get through the coronavirus pandemic with your health and sanity intact. The news industry is being hit hard by the economic downturn triggered by the pandemic. One Georgia paper struggling is The Walton Tribune in Monroe. It’s been around since 1900, and prints twice a week. Since the start of the pandemic, the paper has had to cut salaries to avoid layoffs. Publisher and editor David Clemons tells GPB's Virginia Prescott he hopes to eventually return those salaries to normal.

“The Squad” gets a lot of media attention, but they are just one part of the record number of women elected to Congress in 2018. In fact, it was the most diverse freshman class ever elected: the first Muslim women representatives ever, the first Native women, the first two Latina members from Texas, two black women from New England, and the two youngest members ever elected to the House of Representatives.

For nearly 15 years, National Medal of the Arts award-winning poet and author Julia Alvarez has focused on writing picture books and novels for children. But earlier this year, she published her first novel for adults in more than a decade, called Afterlife . The protagonist, Antonia Vega, is a woman in her late 60s reckoning with isolation and her new identity after her husband’s sudden death. In a world upended by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and wrestling with its own kind of communal grief, the themes of the novel resonate in ways that Alvarez never could have predicted.

Artists and arts organizations were quick to adapt to quarantine and coronavirus. Museum tours, operas, Broadway shows, author talks, home concerts and classes for kids sprung up online shortly after closures were announced. But as the dust begins to settle on our new normal, many worry about the long-term economic impact and outlook for the artists, performers and independent organizations essential to the cultural ecosystem.
