A cyclo[4]pyrrole bearing pyrrole(α)–pyrrole(β) direct linkages was synthesized from an oligoketone precursor. Cyclo[4]pyrrole exhibited a non-planar macrocyclic structure whose global π-conjugation was altered depending on the dihedral angles.
