So, there’s this new study doing the rounds. Users Guide For FRCS: Fuel Reduction Cost Simulator Software

The Fuel Reduction Cost Simulator (FRCS) spreadsheet application is publicdomain software used to estimate costs for fuel reduction treatments involving removal of trees of mixed sizes in the form of whole trees, logs, or chips from a forest. Equipment production rates were developed from existing studies. Equipment operating cost rates are from December 2002 prices for new equipment and wage rates for the Pacific Northwest. These cost assumptions can be modified by the user. There are four ground-based systems, four cable systems, and two helicopter systems. Cost estimates are in U.S. dollars per 100 cubic feet, per green ton, and per acre.

Non-associative Frobenius algebras for simply laced Chevalley groups. (arXiv:2005.02625v1 [math.RA] CROSS LISTED)

We provide an explicit construction for a class of commutative, non-associative algebras for each of the simple Chevalley groups of simply laced type. Moreover, we equip these algebras with an associating bilinear form, which turns them into Frobenius algebras. This class includes a 3876-dimensional algebra on which the Chevalley group of type E8 acts by automorphisms. We also prove that these algebras admit the structure of (axial) decomposition algebras.

Finite dimensional simple modules of $(q, mathbf{Q})$-current algebras. (arXiv:2004.11069v2 [math.RT] UPDATED)

The $(q, mathbf{Q})$-current algebra associated with the general linear Lie algebra was introduced by the second author in the study of representation theory of cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebras. In this paper, we study the $(q, mathbf{Q})$-current algebra $U_q(mathfrak{sl}_n^{langle mathbf{Q} angle}[x])$ associated with the special linear Lie algebra $mathfrak{sl}_n$. In particular, we classify finite dimensional simple $U_q(mathfrak{sl}_n^{langle mathbf{Q} angle}[x])$-modules.

A one-loop exact quantization of Chern-Simons theory. (arXiv:1910.05230v2 [math-ph] UPDATED)

We examine Chern-Simons theory as a deformation of a 3-dimensional BF theory that is partially holomorphic and partially topological. In particular, we introduce a novel gauge that leads naturally to a one-loop exact quantization of this BF theory and Chern-Simons theory. This approach illuminates several important features of Chern-Simons theory, notably the bulk-boundary correspondence of Chern-Simons theory with chiral WZW theory. In addition to rigorously constructing the theory, we also explain how it applies to a large class of closely related 3-dimensional theories and some of the consequences for factorization algebras of observables.

Nonlinear stability of explicit self-similar solutions for the timelike extremal hypersurfaces in R^{1+3}. (arXiv:1907.01126v2 [math.AP] UPDATED)

This paper is devoted to the study of the singularity phenomenon of timelike extremal hypersurfaces in Minkowski spacetime $mathbb{R}^{1+3}$. We find that there are two explicit lightlike self-similar solutions to a graph representation of timelike extremal hypersurfaces in Minkowski spacetime $mathbb{R}^{1+3}$, the geometry of them are two spheres. The linear mode unstable of those lightlike self-similar solutions for the radially symmetric membranes equation is given. After that, we show those self-similar solutions of the radially symmetric membranes equation are nonlinearly stable inside a strictly proper subset of the backward lightcone. This means that the dynamical behavior of those two spheres is as attractors. Meanwhile, we overcome the double roots case (the theorem of Poincar'{e} can't be used) in solving the difference equation by construction of a Newton's polygon when we carry out the analysis of spectrum for the linear operator.

Local Moduli of Semisimple Frobenius Coalescent Structures. (arXiv:1712.08575v3 [math.DG] UPDATED)

We extend the analytic theory of Frobenius manifolds to semisimple points with coalescing eigenvalues of the operator of multiplication by the Euler vector field. We clarify which freedoms, ambiguities and mutual constraints are allowed in the definition of monodromy data, in view of their importance for conjectural relationships between Frobenius manifolds and derived categories. Detailed examples and applications are taken from singularity and quantum cohomology theories. We explicitly compute the monodromy data at points of the Maxwell Stratum of the A3-Frobenius manifold, as well as at the small quantum cohomology of the Grassmannian G(2,4). In the latter case, we analyse in details the action of the braid group on the monodromy data. This proves that these data can be expressed in terms of characteristic classes of mutations of Kapranov's exceptional 5-block collection, as conjectured by one of the authors.

Simulation of Integro-Differential Equation and Application in Estimation of Ruin Probability with Mixed Fractional Brownian Motion. (arXiv:1709.03418v6 [math.PR] UPDATED)

In this paper, we are concerned with the numerical solution of one type integro-differential equation by a probability method based on the fundamental martingale of mixed Gaussian processes. As an application, we will try to simulate the estimation of ruin probability with an unknown parameter driven not by the classical L'evy process but by the mixed fractional Brownian motion.

On a kind of self-similar sets with complete overlaps. (arXiv:2005.03280v1 [math.DS])

Let $E$ be the self-similar set generated by the {it iterated function system} {[ f_0(x)=frac{x}{eta},quad f_1(x)=frac{x+1}{eta}, quad f_{eta+1}=frac{x+eta+1}{eta} ]}with $etage 3$. {Then} $E$ is a self-similar set with complete {overlaps}, i.e., $f_{0}circ f_{eta+1}=f_{1}circ f_1$, but $E$ is not totally self-similar.

We investigate all its generating iterated function systems, give the spectrum of $E$, and determine the Hausdorff dimension and Hausdorff measure of $E$ and of the sets which contain all points in $E$ having finite or infinite different triadic codings.

Establishing the Quantum Supremacy Frontier with a 281 Pflop/s Simulation. (arXiv:1905.00444v2 [quant-ph] UPDATED)

Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) computers are entering an era in which they can perform computational tasks beyond the capabilities of the most powerful classical computers, thereby achieving "Quantum Supremacy", a major milestone in quantum computing. NISQ Supremacy requires comparison with a state-of-the-art classical simulator. We report HPC simulations of hard random quantum circuits (RQC), which have been recently used as a benchmark for the first experimental demonstration of Quantum Supremacy, sustaining an average performance of 281 Pflop/s (true single precision) on Summit, currently the fastest supercomputer in the World. These simulations were carried out using qFlex, a tensor-network-based classical high-performance simulator of RQCs. Our results show an advantage of many orders of magnitude in energy consumption of NISQ devices over classical supercomputers. In addition, we propose a standard benchmark for NISQ computers based on qFlex.
