decisions Statement by Head of OSCE Mission to Skopje on President Ivanov’s decisions to pardon 56 individuals By feeds.osce.org Published On :: Thu, 14 Apr 2016 15:19:15 +0000 SKOPJE, 14 April 2016 - Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje Nina Suomalainen has taken note of President Gjorge Ivanov’s 41 decisions published yesterday in the Official Gazette to pardon 56 individuals. While the stated intention of the President was to contribute to the resolution of the ongoing crisis, the citizens nevertheless are entitled to see political and legal accountability being carried out. The judiciary and the Special Prosecutor’s Office must be allowed to continue to do their very important work in line with the principles of independence and impartiality. The investigation of the cases surrounding and arising from the content of the unauthorized interception of communications, and subsequent court cases should help rebuild the trust of citizens in the rule of law and in a well-functioning and impartial justice system. At this crucial time, we encourage all stakeholders to act constructively and to ensure that principles of democratic governance and the rule of law prevail. Citizens are urged to refrain from violence while exercising their constitutional right to public protest. The best interest of the country and its citizens should be at the centre and focus of all efforts.Related StoriesOSCE Mission to Skopje organizes a roundtable on the role of women in community safetyOSCE Mission to Skopje supports face recognition on-site training for border police officersOSCE Mission to Skopje organizes two-day workshop on multi-ethnic policing Full Article OSCE Mission to Skopje Conflict prevention and resolution South-Eastern Europe Press release

decisions As Video Becomes More Ubiquitous, Decisions More De-Centralized By communicationtransformation.blogspot.com Published On :: Sun, 24 Jul 2011 20:50:00 +0000 Interactive Media Strategies released data on July 14 showing that 62% of corporations that purchased video communications technology made the decision at the President/CEO level when there was no prior investment in this kind of technology. That number dropped to 58% when the prior year's spend was as much as $10,000. The same data shows that when an enterprise already spends $100,000 or more annually on video, the decision-making authority is almost evenly distributed between IT (35%), functional department heads (31%), and the President/CEO level (34%). I think the clear implication of this data is that when corporations are already committing resources to video communications and the value of video has already been established, and this kind of technology is no longer considered exotic, then decision-making authority becomes more broadly distributed to IT and the business units. This data is interesting when paired with data released in 2010 that shows 15% of executives surveyed that do not spend money on video and are thus not using video communications believe video communications are "very effective." 58% of executives surveyed that spend $100,000 or more annual on video technology indicated they believe video communications are "very effective." I am sure this great difference is due to several factors, including: executives who are predisposed to see value in video are those most likely to invest in it, and those that have already made a six figure investment in video will likely not be motivated to feel as if the investment was wasted. Nonetheless, video obviously wears well because executives who are heavily invested in video believe much more in its value than executives who do not employ the technology. Full Article

decisions Impact of 18F-FES PET/CT on Clinical Decisions in the Management of Recurrent or Metastatic Breast Cancer By jnm.snmjournals.org Published On :: 2024-11-01T04:25:31-07:00 The clinical impact of 16α-18F-fluoro-17β-estradiol (18F-FES) PET/CT on patient management has not been well investigated. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical impact of 18F-FES PET/CT on the management of patients with recurrent or metastatic breast cancer. Methods: Study subjects were identified retrospectively from a database of a prospective trial for postmarketing surveillance of 18F-FES between 2021 and 2023. Patients who were suspected or known to have recurrent or metastatic estrogen receptor–positive breast cancer based on a routine standard workup were included. Planned management before and actual management after 18F-FES PET/CT were assessed by 2 experienced medical oncologists via medical chart review. A 5-point questionnaire was provided to evaluate the value of 18F-FES PET/CT for management planning. The rate of intention-to-treat and interdisciplinary changes, and the impact of 18F-FES PET/CT according to PET/CT result or clinical indication, were examined. Results: Of the 344 included patients, 120 (35%) experienced a change in management after 18F-FES PET/CT. In 139 (40%) patients,18F-FES PET/CT supported the existing management decision without a change in management. Intention-to-treat and interdisciplinary changes accounted for 64% (77/120) and 68% (82/120) of all changes, respectively. A higher rate of change was observed when lesions were 18F-FES–negative (44% [36/81]) than 18F-FES–positive (30% [51/172]) or mixed 18F-FES–positive/negative (36% [33/91]). Regarding clinical indications, the highest rate of change was shown when evaluating the origins of metastasis of double primary cancers (64% [9/14]). Conclusion: 18F-FES PET/CT modified the management of recurrent or metastatic breast cancer, serving as an impactful imaging modality in clinical practice. Full Article

decisions Using “Dumb Data” To Make Smart Design Decisions By feeds.uxmag.com Published On :: Wed, 23 Sep 15 19:42:45 +0000 September 23, 2015As an industry, we’ve worked to established many new practices and tools for nimble design teams, from A/B testing to measuring bounce rates and CTR performance. But a lot of these methods require engineers or some amount of technical know-how to execute, and they take place only after something has been launched. The judicious application of “dumb data” can streamline your workflow and improve your designsWhat many people don’t know is that there are some unexpected applications of data to consider earlier in the design process, which you, the designer, can do yourself. They’re not fancy, and you don’t need to know how to write SQL queries. The judicious application of just-enough “dumb data” can streamline your workflow and improve your designs in surprisingly useful ways. Here are...read more By Jocelyn Lin Full Article
