getting Getting from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 30 minutes By www.scpr.org Published On :: Tue, 13 Aug 2013 12:15:33 -0700 Business Update with Mark LacterYesterday, we heard about the hyper-loop, a system that could get you from L.A. to San Francisco in about 30 minutes without losing your eyeballs. Steve Julian: Business analyst Mark Lacter, that might come in handy given how crowded California's air corridor has become... Mark Lacter: We'll talk about the hyper-loop in a moment, Steve, but yes, the L.A.-to-San Francisco air route is the busiest in the U.S., and it's already the most competitive. We're talking about more than 50 flights a day, which - if you spread them out between six in the morning and 10:30 at night - there'd be one flight every 20 minutes. But, Delta obviously thinks there's room for more because it's announced an hourly shuttle between the two cities. That's another 14 daily flights beginning September 3. The airline will be using a somewhat smaller jet, and it sounds as if the focus will be on the business traveler, with free newspapers, wine, and beer. Julian: How much will it cost, do we know? Lacter: As usual, it's a lot cheaper if you make an advance purchase, but if you're buying your tickets at the last minute - which is what a lot of business travelers do - roundtrip runs a hefty $430. Actually, this Bay Area shuttle is just the latest effort by Delta to expand out of LAX, which is different from other major airports in that it doesn't have any one airline that dominates (United has a slight edge in market share over American, with Delta about three percentage points behind). American also has been adding flights out of LAX. Julian: Sounds like the airline business is improving... Lacter: That's what happens when you pack planes to the absolute max, which is bad news for travelers being crammed into coach seats. But it's good news for LAX, which continues to be the airport of choice among airlines looking to add service - matter of fact, domestic passenger traffic was up almost 8 percent in June compared with a year earlier. Some of those gains might be at the expense of service elsewhere - most especially Ontario Airport, which has seen a big exodus among airlines and passengers. Ontario city officials have been trying to regain control of the airport, which has been operated by the city of Los Angeles. Julian: Back to the hyper-loop - is this kind of transport possible? Lacter: Well, it's the brainchild of billionaire Elon Musk, and you never say never with this guy. He started the electric car company Tesla and the private space company Space X. The hyper-loop is a high-speed system of passenger pods that would travel on a cushion of air (think of air hockey table). The pods would travel at more than 700 miles per hour, but they wouldn't result in sonic booms that severely restricted the Concorde aircraft. Of course, anything that promises super-speed travel is bound to get people talking - and, from what the physics professors are saying, the Musk idea seems feasible. Julian: How would its cost compare to the bullet train? Lacter: He says a lot cheaper. The price tag on the train is $70 billion at last check; Musk says he can do his for $6 billion. But, the issue isn't so much the cost or even the technology, but the politics. As a rule, governments do not think outside the box, and that's what a project like this is all about. Already, you have bullet train supporters saying that the hyper-loop is impossible, but what they're really saying is we have a lot riding on the train, and we don't want this guy to mess it up. Julian: But, how much demand is there for high-speed transport? Lacter: You'd think there would be a lot, but when Boeing came up with a nifty idea for a souped-up plane that would shave almost an hour from L.A. to New York, the airlines said no because it would require more fuel - and that would mean raising fares. Musk says his system would be a lot cheaper than traveling by plane, which could be a game changer in the attitudes about going places. But, those attitudes won't change until the thing is actually built, and that can't realistically happen until attitudes change. That's the ultimate problem. Julian: Hence, why we're content to squeeze into coach. Lacter: Yep. Mark Lacter is a contributing writer for Los Angeles Magazine and writes the business blog at LA Observed.com. This content is from Southern California Public Radio. View the original story at SCPR.org. Full Article

getting And ya know getting them out will be a bloody story By www.metafilter.com Published On :: Thu, 14 Nov 2024 04:31:58 GMT Content Warning: Incredibly ugly upcoming U.S. Politics. Stephen Miller and Donald Trump's public promise for a "bloody story" - plans for sweeping raids and mass deportations of 10 to 20 million people living in America are expected to start when Trump assumes office and begins on day one.People living all across the United States, from farm camps in the backwaters of Florida to the ethnically diverse neighborhoods of major cities will likely be greviously impacted. Currently it is expected that the combined utilization of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), National Guard, local police, trained and armed civilians and possibly even the US Military will take part in the raids to capture legal and illegal immigrants. Sympathetic police departments will have their funding slashed if they don't participate in the raids. Surprisingly, some research suggests a majority of Americans support mass deportations and concentration camps, which was reflected in the election results. Whether the popular support continues after it begins depends on the effectiveness of ICE and the Department of Homeland Security's indoctrination and propaganda programs that they have already been preparing for this moment, as well as the mass media's whitewashing of the proceedings as an "affordable housing program," among other things. So the question is, what can we realistically expect? ICE's "Citizens Academy" program offers up some clues... The academy trains civilians to operate multiple firearms, use lethal force, perform surveillance on immigrants, and conduct raids while also acting as a public relations initiative to try and sway public opinion about ICE, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the HSI unit of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). "We ran Border Patrol Citizen Academies back when I was an agent as well," Jenn Budd, former Senior Border Patrol Agent, whistleblower, and author of Against the Wall told Unicorn Riot. "The entire goal is to indoctrinate locals into why it's okay for us to violate people's rights." The training materials that show where to strike people with batons to subdue them are but the tip of the iceberg in terms of violence. While the ICE presentation on using force contains the "Monadnock Baton Chart" (presumably named after baton manufacturer Monadnock) showing the degrees of damage inflicted on a suspect based on where they're struck with a baton, the majority of this part of Citizens Academy training covers when to use deadly force. What could happen to the people swept up? The program is generally portrayed as mass deportations, but already it has become clear that many countries (even Mexico) are expected not to welcome the tidal wave of migrants. Instead, the prison-industrial complex which is being flooded with investment money is gearing up to build large scale prisons and camps to house them. Many of these migrants can be expected to be kept there for years on end, with the Supreme Court supporting indefinite detetion of immigrants, an affirmation of long standing U.S. policy. Slavery in America is still legal in the prison system (even California voter's just reaffirmed) and many companies could stand to make a lot of money off of the cheap workforce. The prior Trump administration focused on breaking families up, but this time they promise to include everyone in the family, no matter the immigration status, even denaturalization of American citizens. How will it be payed for? The operation is projected to cost upwards of $300 billion or much more and this has frequently been cited as a major reason that the invisioned plans will falter. If Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) plans for freeing up $2 trillion of the yearly federal budget succeeds, there appears to be plenty of money to reallocate. Even without these slush funds, Trump has already declared that the operation has "no price tag." Some recent and historical parallels In China, many Uyghurs have been put into forced labor prison camps for decades now, and the Xinjiang region has long been at the technological vanguard of state of the art large scale surveillance and population control research and development. American and Western tech companies can take what they have learned in Xinjiang and finally bring it home for wide spread use domestically. During the Holocaust, many "good Germans" helped to report their neighbors, and already Americans are arguing whether it is ethical to call in ICE on theirs. America has a long history of anti-immigrant campaigns and attacking ethnic communities, including Operation Wetback in 1953-54, the Japanese Internment Camps during WWII and tracing back to events like the Trail of Tears and traditional American slavery, to name a few. Hoping for the best While the years of preparation for Project 2025, combined with the GOP's complete control of all of the branches of the federal government suggests things are going to be harder to stop. It is good to remember that for all intents and purposes this will be an unimaginable kakistocracy and the revolving door of grifters is likely to spin even faster than it did during the first Trump administration. Major logistical questions remain - how fast can they actually scale up, for example, or deal with the massively inflated costs, bribes and outright theft chipping away at the budget. The chaos caused by replacing 50,000 federal employees with largely incompetent hacks while gutting government agencies left and right alone will likely slow down any plans significantly due to the complex and tightly coupled systems that make up the US government. Fortunately the ACLU and many other organizations and Democratic state governments vow to legally fight back against the upcoming operations. And lastly, it is likely that there will be large scale public action. Whether it is in the form of protests, strikes or imaginative work arounds for whatever crackdowns that are coming, there many Americans who will push back. getting Bluesky surges to 15 million users after getting a million sign-ups in one week By www.engadget.com Published On :: Wed, 13 Nov 2024 22:42:13 +0000 Bluesky may still be the underdog in the race for alternatives to X, but the once Twitter-affiliated service is gaining momentum. The app just passed the 15 million user mark after adding more than a million new users over the last week, the company said in an update. While Bluesky is still considerably smaller than Threads, which with 275 million users is its biggest rival, there are signs that Threads users have been increasingly curious about the upstart. “Bluesky” has been a trending topic on Threads in recent days and an in-app search suggestion shows there are more than 19,000 posts about “Bluesky.” Bluesky itself has also made a push to win over Threads users in recent weeks by posting regularly on the Meta-owned service. That effort seems to be working. A month ago, Engadget noted, the service had just under 9 million users. Its mobile app also has the top spot in Apple’s App Store, followed by Threads and ChatGPT. Its recent success also seems to be driven, at least in part, by frustration with Elon Musk and X following the US presidential election. A recent report from web analytics company SimilarWeb found that “more than 115,000 US web visitors deactivated their accounts,” on November 7, “more than on any previous day of Elon Musk’s tenure.” The report also noted that “web traffic and daily active users for Bluesky increased dramatically in the week before the election, and then again after election day,” with Bluesky at points seeing more web traffic than Threads. (Threads’ mobile usage, however, is still “far ahead” of Bluesky.) SimilarWeb “In the US, Bluesky got more web visits than Threads in the immediate aftermath of the election,” the report notes. “For context, it’s important to note that both services are app centric, even though they support a web user interface.” On its part, Bluesky seems intent on distinguishing itself from its larger, billionaire-controlled rivals. The company, which began as an internal project at Twitter before it spun off into an independent entity, has experimented with novel features like custom feeds, user-created moderation services and “starter packs” for new users. “You're probably used to being trapped in a single algorithm controlled by a small group of people, that's no longer the case,” Bluesky’s COO Rose Wang shared in a video aimed at new users Tuesday. “On Bluesky, there are about 50,000 different feeds … these feeds provide a cozy corner for you to meet people with similar interests. And you can actually make friends again, because you're no longer tied to a dominant algorithm that promotes either the most polarizing posts and or the biggest brands, and that's the mandate of Bluesky.”This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/social-media/bluesky-surges-to-15-million-users-after-getting-a-million-sign-ups-in-one-week-224213573.html?src=rss Full Article Software Technology & Electronics site|engadget provider_name|Engadget region|US language|en-US author_name|Karissa Bell

getting Twidere for Twitter: Getting Started By www.inclusiveandroid.com Published On :: Sun, 25 Sep 2016 23:29:27 +0000 If you’re looking for a free Twitter app that is accessible, check out Twidere for Android by Mariotaku: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mariotaku.twidere&hl=en This is a very brief guide to get started. Immediately after Twidere installs from the Play Store, you’ve got two preliminaries to take care of. First, the app tells you to log into Twitter. Just tap OK or Continue to launch your browser, enter your Twitter user name and password, and tap the sign in button. Second, the app brings up a series of settings screens. Tap Next to move through them, making changes if you have convictions or leaving things as they are if you don’t. At the end of this process, you may be asked to allow location and one or two other things. The Twidere main screen is pretty simple. Across the top are four tabs: Home, Interactions (i.e., Mentions), Trends, and Messages (i.e., Direct Messages). In the bottom right corner is a New Tweet icon. The first time you visit a tab, the screen displays no tweets or messages; you need to refresh to populate the screen. To visit a tab, either tap the tab icon at the top of the screen, or swipe left or right with two fingers. For example, let’s say you’re on your timeline and you want to go to your mentions. Either tap Interactions, or swipe left once with two fingers. To refresh the screen, long-press its tab icon. For example, if you want new tweets to appear, long-press Home. To open the menu, touch the very left edge of the screen, then swipe right with two fingers. This is one of those things that takes a little practice, then works right every time. Once tweets are displayed on the screen, each has three lines of information. The top line is the sender’s name and Twitter handle. The middle line is the sender’s profile icon and the tweet itself. The bottom line is a row of controls, which varies a little. Typically, controls are Reply, Retweet, Like, and an unlabeled button I’ve called More. Tapping More brings up additional controls, like Share, Copy, and Add to Filter. Exploring is the best way to read the screen. To send a new tweet, tap the Compose icon in the bottom right corner. The new screen displays an edit box (above) and the keyboard (below). To the right of the edit box are a check box for adding your location and the Send button. Below the edit box is a row of icons for changing the account, adding an image, taking a photo, and saving as draft. The app is very accessible. The only hiccups I’ve found are the unlabeled button in the third row of each tweet and the fact that TalkBack doesn’t announce, “Selected,” when you touch the tab for the screen you’re on. getting Volkron Checkbook: Getting Started By www.inclusiveandroid.com Published On :: Sun, 30 Oct 2016 17:03:05 +0000 Volkron Checkbook is a ledger for keeping track of your bank accounts. Its Play Store link is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.volkron.checkbook.andr... The app is free and completely accessible. I haven't found any unlabeled buttons or other wonkiness. Well, there is one thing, but it's pretty minor. I'll mention it below. The app's tag line is that it's simple and elegant, and this is true. In fact, the app is so simple and elegant that it's confusing when you're new to it. When you open the app for the first time, you find Open Navigation Drawer in the top left corner, More Options in the top right corner, Default Account near the top of the screen, and New in the bottom right corner. Tapping Open Navigation Drawer lists your accounts at the top and some preferences farther down. Tapping More Options lists various search/display filters. Tapping New brings up a new transaction form. To create an account, tap Open Navigation Drawer, then Settings, then Accounts. This brings up a screen with your existing accounts (i.e., Default Account) near the top. There's also an Add button in the top right corner. For your first account, tap Default Account, edit the name, and fill out the rest of the form. For additional accounts, tap Add and fill out the form. If you want to delete an account, tap the name of the account, then tap Delete in the top right corner. The new account screen is pretty basic, really just the account name (e.g., Checking, Savings) and the starting balance. When you're done, tap Save in the top right corner. The next time you open the app, you find yourself on the last screen you worked on. Most likely, this is the account you moved money into or out of most recently. the name of the account is at the top, and your transactions appear as a list, with the oldest at the bottom. To create a new transaction, tap New in the bottom right corner and fill out the transaction form. Information appears as a list: amount at the top, name of the party giving you the money or taking it from you (e.g., AT&T), Category (e.g., phone bill), number or code (e.g., check number or invoice number), date, and Notes. To the left of the amount is a minus sign, which TalkBack announces as "Switch." Tapping this symbol changes it to a plus sign, which TalkBack correctly announces. the edit boxes for Name and Category each have a button to the left for bringing up a list of names and categories you use often so you can just tap the one you want. Btw, when you install the app, it doesn't have any suggested names or categories, but each time you type a new one, it is saved for you automatically. When you finish filling out the transaction form, tap Save in the top right corner. To work with a different account, tap Open Navigation Drawer to move to the screen with all your accounts and with a few preferences. Then tap the account you want. This is enough to get started. The rest is easy enough to figure out. Volkron Checkbook has a modern interface and is 99% accessible. I also like the way it displays and filters transactions on the Account and Statement screens. Unlike a similar app by Digital Life Style Solutions, Volkron doesn't have options for recurring transactions, like payday and auto bill pay, and it doesn't really let you export your files. You can back your information up as a DB file, but if you don't have a database app, you can't really do anything with that. The Play Store description for Volkron says these two features are forthcoming as premium features. When they come, the app will definitely be worth paying for. getting Getting Started and How to use a Samsung phone with Talkback By www.inclusiveandroid.com Published On :: Wed, 13 Dec 2017 02:35:24 +0000 Introduction to Android. Android is the operating system of your phone. Much like Windows is to a computer; it helps you control all functions of your phone. Firstly, if there is something you don't like about the way your device works from the file explorer, to the phone dialer, to the voice recognition engine to the browser or any other aspect of your device's interface or operation, likely you can change it. Initial startup with Voice Assistant: When you first power on the device, to activate voice assistant (the built in screen reader); simply hold 2 fingers on the surface of the touchscreen. After about 5 seconds it will announce tell you to keep holding down on the screen if you wish to enable it. A few seconds later you will hear the screen reader start up. You will at this point be presented with the startup wizard that will take you through connecting your phone to a wifi hotspot, connecting your google / gmail account and setting up the initial parameters of the device. Depending on what version of Android your device uses, you may need a set of earphones in order to hear your password spoken out. Talk Back, the screen reader: Samsung and Google have their own adaptive technology layers. Some of the tools need to be installed on a Samsung device in order to make it usable. For example, Samsung has its own screen reader called "voice assistant", it is not very good. (e.g. doesn't support web content, keyboard access or braille very well or at all). You need to install Talkback (Google's screen reader) separately from the play store. You can do this either yourself or ask for sighted help to do this so if you are asking for sighted assistance, you can start by turning off Voice Assistance before passing the phone ober. 1. From the Home button, slide your finger up slightly and you should hear Apps. Double tap to open it. 2. Use two fingers slightly separated and swipe upwards with short strokes till you get to the bottom of the list. 3. Slide your finger till you hear Settings and double tap to open it. 4. Scroll down a bit and tap on Play Store. 3. Tap on the Search button on the upper part of the screen. 4. Tap on the edit field and type Talkback. 5. Tap on Google Talkback. 6. Tap on Install. Once installed, you will not be able to have the two running at the same time. Enabling Talkback will automatically disable Voice Assistance. To perform the switch, you will need to do the following: 1 From the home screen, tap Apps. 2 Tap Settings. 3 you will need to scroll down a little to Tap on Accessibility 4 Tap Vision. 5 Scroll down past the Services heading and Tap on TalkBack. 6 Tap the slider to enable Talkback. 7. An alert screen will pop up requesting permissions. 8. Tap on OK and the switch is done. Talk Back Tutorial: To familiarize yourself with the gestures, you should practice the tutorial by going to settings then slide and double tap on accessibility then slide and double tap on talkback then slide and double tap on settings then slide and double tap on Launch Explore by Touch Tutorial Below is a list of the most common gestures used with an Android phone. Gestures: You use a single finger swipe left to go forward and swipe right to go back through the items on a screen. You hold your finger on the screen to open a menu related to the shortcut on the screen. You double tap anywhere on the screen to activate the item that has the focus. You use 2 fingers (swiping left, right, up or down to scroll in a list, scroll on a page or scroll around a multi-screen layout. You can pair a gesture with a limited choice of commands. By default, the following gestures work: Global menu Draw an upper case L on the screen (i.e. touch the surface of the screen and quickly draw a line down, than continue to the right and raise your finger) to open the global menu to access reading commands like read all, read from last touched item, spell last utterance, the quicknav commands and also there are a few buttons for global commands like disable talkback temporarily and talkback settings. Previous screen Draw an upper case L backwards (I.e. touch the surface of the screen and quickly draw a line down, than continue to the left and raise your finger) to go to the previous screen Local menu Draw an upside down upper case L (i.e. touch the surface of the screen and quickly draw a line up, than continue to the right and raise your finger) to go to the local menu where you will find specific commands for the field or control that currently has focus such as the label button command if focus is on an unlabeled button or the paste command if the focus is on an edit or input field. Home Draw a backwards and upside down upper case L (I.e. touch the surface of the screen and quickly draw a line up, than continue to the left and raise your finger) to go to the “home” screen It does take a little practice to learn how to do the "L" based gestures at first and it is important to listen to the audio cues that talkback provides to advise you if talkback recognizes the gesture you just completed as a valid "L" gesture. Configurable gestures: To configure the unused gestures, go to settings then slide and double tap on accessibility then slide and double tap on talkback then slide and double tap on settings then slide and double tap on Gestures. Read the list of gestures and find an unassigned gesture. Double Tap on it to open the list of commands that are available to associate with the gesture. Select the desired command by double Tapping on it and the dialog box will close and you will be back at the gestures screen. You can try the new gesture immediately. Suggested gesture configurations for quick navigation and reading: Swipe Up “Read from next item” Swipe down “ Next navigation setting” Swipe Left “Previous item” Swipe right “Next item” In the Talkback settings screen, you can customize your talkback gestures and even experiment with some new ones such as "shake to activate" which many people set to "read all"; so that when they shake their device it reads out the entire screen to them. Nova Launcher: When your device completes the initial startup wizard, you will be in your device's "launcher". Depending on the manufacturer and device this launcher could be the google now launcher, senseUI or any of a host of other launchers. Many people will install Nova Launcher to replace the default launcher of the device. Once installed, you must enable it by double tapping settings then slide and double tap on accessibility then slide and double tap on services then slide and double tap on Nova Launcher. The desktop, the first screen you will encounter when unlocking or starting up your phone or when you press the Home button, will likely have several pages to the left and several pages to the right; each page contains a grid view of icons. At the bottom, you will encounter a line called the dock which usually contains the following icons, Phone, Apps and three others that you may choose amongst the ones that you use most often. The Phone icon is the icon used to control all calling functions of the cell phone. The app drawer contains a grid view of all the apps you have installed on the device. Below that line, at the very bottom, on each side of your Home button, is another line with the following icons that appear as needed. Back, Home and Recent Apps Back icon, returns you to the previous screen Home button, returns you to the Desktop screen. Recent Apps icon opens a screen with the apps presently in use or in memory. You would use this screen to close apps that are not being used to free up memory. Making your phone easier to use. Extending Screen time out You may want more time of inactivity before the screen locks. This is controlled with the screen time out option. Nova Launcher forces this orientation throughout all applications. To access Nova Launchers settings, you need to be at your phones desktop. Once at the desktop, press the Home button. This will open the Nova Launchers Settings panel. Double tap on the Settings button, then double tap on the Look & Feel item. Slide your finger till you find Screen Orientation and double tap to open it. Slide your finger to the Force Portrait list item and double tap it. This will save your choice and bring you back to the previous screen. Using the phone: Press the HOME button or slide your finger from left to right in the middle of the screen to answer the phone when it is ringing. To hang up the phone, press once on the power button. To call someone in your contacts list, double Tap on the phone icon, first icon at the bottom left of your screen. Then double Tap on the Contacts tab, the tab directly below your search edit field and double Tap on the person’s name. If you have more than one number for that contact, you will be presented with the list of numbers available. Double Tap on the desired number to start the dialing process. Voice Search You can use the voice search button located at the right of the Search edit field. Double tap on it, you will hear a blink sound, say the name of the person you want to call or the numbers you want to dial. A different blink sound will be heard once the phone has stopped listening to your voice and the phone will dial the persons name if it recognizes it in your contact list. If that person has more than one number, a list of numbers associated will be presented. Double tap on the number you wish to use. If you have only said the numbers to be dialed, it will dial them for you. getting Is Blogging Just About Getting More Traffic? By dailyfisk.blogspot.com Published On :: Thu, 2 Mar 2006 21:52:00 -0800 I may regret this. My mom always told me to stay out of other people's fights. But I was always too headstrong for my own good so here goes. Over at Copyblogger Brian tells us: " Steve used a clever little PR gimmick (that would never work for an unknown blogger today, mind you) to literally propel himself to the enviable point he is now. Nothing wrong with that, unless of course, two years later, you look down from your A-List perch and proclaim that traffic is now bad." Frankly I'm a little weary of the term "A-List". But I have to agree with that thought. It's easy to mock the tail that wags the blog when you're at the top.A commentor said: "Anyone who says traffic doesn't matter, relative to having a web presence, is either disingenuous or has a ton of traffic already. In Steve's case, likely both." P.S.: It's called HYPOCRISY! Steve Rubel has redefined the art of tagging wrapping all his posts around ever popular keyword themes. "Blog", "Technorati, "Google", "Top Ten", "Best", "Success", "Killer", "Sex", "Porn"... whatever works. Slog that Technorati gravy train Steve and keep those numbers up.Another commentor also mentioned performancing.com -- that self-absorbed group of omni poobahs forever beating their own drum. Until a couple of months ago nobody had ever heard of them. After spending a little advertising money at Technorati and a few smug posts later they have somehow transformed themselves into self-proclaimed blog experts. Which only proves that if you toot your own horn loud and long enough you will begin to believe your own press. It also demonstrates how many gullible bloggers there are eager to jump on the blogging gold train.Taking notes? ...shameless self-promoting tags: daily fisk blog weblog blogging blog tools technology tech fun funny humor humour technorati technorati tags keywords steve rubel link bait link baiting Full Article

getting Getting Quotes By www.timesheetsmts.com Published On :: 2006-10-04T11:54:50+09:30 OK we're back from holidays today. I spent a couple of hours marking up copies of the house/land layout for faxing out to suppliers for quotation purposes. I had four marked up plans showing: 1. Retaining wall positions and height plus including the design table for the walls as supplied by the engineering report. 2. Areas of the house to be carpeted and areas to be tiles. 3. A site layout showing likely stormwater drainage and including a total length of stormwater likely to be required. 4. A site layout showing the total area to be paved and the area of the driveway to be paved. Once I'd prepared these drawings I faxed each one to several suppliers asking for quotations within 7 days. These quotations will help with our own budget but will also be supplied to the bank for finalizing the loan process. Full Article
