Decades of rallying cries from professional societies, medical education and training programs, and government stakeholders have distilled the conversation of social determinants of health (SDOH) from theoretical proposals into practical solutions [1-3]. No longer standing on the precipice of change, we are now in the trenches. The nation's health care system recognizes SDOH as important drivers of health and is taking steps to address them in the practice environment.

More widespread action and attention by the health care system drives the need to train the next generation of physicians in the concepts and actions related to SDOH. This includes SDOH as a core part of the medical curriculum, offering clinical and research experiences and service in the community [4-5]. Unfortunately, to date only a handful of programs have brought this vision to fruition. Across the country, most programs offer educational content that is largely didactic and provided in short or one-time sessions [6]. Though a start, such approaches are insufficient to prepare the next generation of physicians for their important work ahead.

At the time of this writing, healthcare systems are facing worldwide the pandemic of the coronavirus severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) and its associated disease, named cronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19). This virus is a new human pathogen, and currently, there are no specific treatment options.¹ COVID-19 mostly affects the respiratory system, ranging from mild flu-like symptoms to severe pneumonia, but extrarespiratory multisystemic involvement has also been reported.² Li et al.³ recently described the neuroinvasive potential of COVID-19, but, to our knowledge, no case of acute dysimmune neuropathy has been described so far. Here, the authors report the case of an acute and severe peripheral nervous system disorder possibly related to COVID-19 infection.

Alemtuzumab is approved for the treatment of relapsing-remitting MS and is used off-label for patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and as induction and antirejection therapy in kidney transplant recipients.¹ Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) or chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) complicating alemtuzumab treatment was reported in 9 patients with hematologic malignancy or MS.^1–3 The risk of GBS or CIDP in solid organ transplant recipients treated with alemtuzumab is unknown.
