mi N,N'-Bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)ethanediamide monohydrate: crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and computational study By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-01-01 The molecular structure of the title bis-pyridyl substituted diamide hydrate, C14H14N4O2·H2O, features a central C2N2O2 residue (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0205 Å) linked at each end to 3-pyridyl rings through methylene groups. The pyridyl rings lie to the same side of the plane, i.e. have a syn-periplanar relationship, and form dihedral angles of 59.71 (6) and 68.42 (6)° with the central plane. An almost orthogonal relationship between the pyridyl rings is indicated by the dihedral angle between them [87.86 (5)°]. Owing to an anti disposition between the carbonyl-O atoms in the core, two intramolecular amide-N—H⋯O(carbonyl) hydrogen bonds are formed, each closing an S(5) loop. Supramolecular tapes are formed in the crystal via amide-N—H⋯O(carbonyl) hydrogen bonds and ten-membered {⋯HNC2O}2 synthons. Two symmetry-related tapes are linked by a helical chain of hydrogen-bonded water molecules via water-O—H⋯N(pyridyl) hydrogen bonds. The resulting aggregate is parallel to the b-axis direction. Links between these, via methylene-C—H⋯O(water) and methylene-C—H⋯π(pyridyl) interactions, give rise to a layer parallel to (10overline{1}); the layers stack without directional interactions between them. The analysis of the Hirshfeld surfaces point to the importance of the specified hydrogen-bonding interactions, and to the significant influence of the water molecule of crystallization upon the molecular packing. The analysis also indicates the contribution of methylene-C—H⋯O(carbonyl) and pyridyl-C—H⋯C(carbonyl) contacts to the stability of the inter-layer region. The calculated interaction energies are consistent with importance of significant electrostatic attractions in the crystal. Full Article text
mi Crystal and molecular structures of a binuclear mixed ligand complex of silver(I) with thiocyanate and 1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-01-01 The complete molecule of the binuclear title complex, bis[μ-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione-κ2S:S]bis{(thiocyanato-κS)[1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione-κS]silver(I)}, [Ag2(SCN)2(C2H3N3S)4], is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry. The independent triazole-3-thione ligands employ the exocyclic-S atoms exclusively in coordination. One acts as a terminal S-ligand and the other in a bidentate (μ2) bridging mode to provide a link between two AgI centres. Each AgI atom is also coordinated by a terminal S-bound thiocyanate ligand, resulting in a distorted AgS4 tetrahedral coordination geometry. An intramolecular N—H⋯S(thiocyanate) hydrogen bond is noted. In the crystal, amine-N—H⋯S(thione), N—H⋯N(triazolyl) and N—H⋯N(thiocyanate) hydrogen bonds give rise to a three-dimensional architecture. The packing is consolidated by triazolyl-C—H⋯S(thiocyanate), triazolyl-C—H⋯N(thiocyanate) and S⋯S [3.2463 (9) Å] interactions as well as face-to-face π–π stacking between the independent triazolyl rings [inter-centroid separation = 3.4444 (15) Å]. An analysis of the calculated Hirshfeld surfaces shows the three major contributors are due to N⋯H/H⋯N, S⋯H/H⋯S and C⋯H/H⋯C contacts, at 35.8, 19.4 and 12.7%, respectively; H⋯H contacts contribute only 7.6% to the overall surface. mi Crystal structures of chlorido[dihydroxybis(1-iminoethoxy)]arsanido-κ3N,As,N']platinum(II) and of a polymorph of chlorido[dihydroxybis(1-iminopropoxy)arsanido-κ3N,As,N']platinum(II) By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-01-10 Each central platinum(II) atom in the crystal structures of chlorido[dihydroxybis(1-iminoethoxy)arsanido-κ3N,As,N']platinum(II), [Pt(C4H10AsN2O4)Cl] (1), and of chlorido[dihydroxybis(1-iminopropoxy)arsanido-κ3N,As,N']platinum(II), [Pt(C6H14AsN2O4)Cl] (2), is coordinated by two nitrogen donor atoms, a chlorido ligand and to arsenic, which, in turn, is coordinated by two oxygen donor ligands, two hydroxyl ligands and the platinum(II) atom. The square-planar and trigonal–bipyramidal coordination environments around platinum and arsenic, respectively, are significantly distorted with the largest outliers being 173.90 (13) and 106.98 (14)° for platinum and arsenic in (1), and 173.20 (14)° and 94.20 (9)° for (2), respectively. One intramolecular and four classical intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions are observed in the crystal structure of (1), which give rise to an infinite three-dimensional network. A similar situation (one intramolecular and four classical intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions) is observed in the crystal structure of (2). Various π-interactions are present in (1) between the platinum(II) atom and the centroid of one of the five-membered rings formed by Pt, As, C, N, O with a distance of 3.7225 (7) Å, and between the centroids of five-membered (Pt, As, C, N, O) rings of neighbouring molecules with distances of 3.7456 (4) and 3.7960 (6) Å. Likewise, weak π-interactions are observed in (2) between the platinum(II) atom and the centroid of one of the five-membered rings formed by Pt, As, C, N, O with a distance of 3.8213 (2) Å, as well as between the Cl atom and the centroid of a symmetry-related five-membered ring with a distance of 3.8252 (12) Å. Differences between (2) and the reported polymorph [Miodragović et al. (2013). Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 52, 10749–10752] are discussed. Full Article text
mi An unusually short intermolecular N—H⋯N hydrogen bond in crystals of the hemi-hydrochloride salt of 1-exo-acetamidopyrrolizidine By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-01-01 The title compound [systematic name: (1R*, 8S)-2-acetamidooctahydropyrrolizin-4-ium chloride–N-[(1R, 8S)-hexahydro-1H-pyrrolizin-2-yl)acetamide (1/1)], 2(C9H16N2O)·HCl or C9H17N2O+·Cl−·C9H16N2O, arose as an unexpected product when 1-exo-acetamidopyrrolizidine (AcAP; C9H16N2O) was dissolved in CHCl3. Within the AcAP pyrrolizidine group, the unsubstituted five-membered ring is disordered over two orientations in a 0.897 (5):0.103 (5) ratio. Two AcAP molecules related by a crystallographic twofold axis link to H+ and Cl− ions lying on the rotation axis, thereby forming N—H⋯N and N—H⋯Cl⋯H—N hydrogen bonds. The first of these has an unusually short N⋯N separation of 2.616 (2) Å: refinement of different models against the present data set could not distinguish between a symmetrical hydrogen bond (H atom lying on the twofold axis and equidistant from the N atoms) or static or dynamic disorder models (i.e. N—H⋯N + N⋯H—N). Computational studies suggest that the disorder model is slightly more stable, but the energy difference is very small. Full Article text

mi The 1:2 co-crystal formed between N,N'-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)ethanediamide and benzoic acid: crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and computational study By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-01-01 The crystal and molecular structures of the title 1:2 co-crystal, C14H14N4O2·2C7H6O2, are described. The oxalamide molecule has a (+)-antiperiplanar conformation with the 4-pyridyl residues lying to either side of the central, almost planar C2N2O2 chromophore (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0555 Å). The benzoic acid molecules have equivalent, close to planar conformations [C6/CO2 dihedral angle = 6.33 (14) and 3.43 (10)°]. The formation of hydroxy-O—H⋯N(pyridyl) hydrogen bonds between the benzoic acid molecules and the pyridyl residues of the diamide leads to a three-molecule aggregate. Centrosymmetrically related aggregates assemble into a six-molecule aggregate via amide-N—H⋯O(amide) hydrogen bonds through a 10-membered {⋯HNC2O}2 synthon. These are linked into a supramolecular tape via amide-N—H⋯O(carbonyl) hydrogen bonds and 22-membered {⋯HOCO⋯NC4NH}2 synthons. The contacts between tapes to consolidate the three-dimensional architecture are of the type methylene-C—H⋯O(amide) and pyridyl-C—H⋯O(carbonyl). These interactions are largely electrostatic in nature. Additional non-covalent contacts are identified from an analysis of the calculated Hirshfeld surfaces. Full Article text

There are two molecules in general positions in the asymmetric unit, one of them being the (1R)-camphor thiosemicarbazone isomer and the second the (1S)- isomer. In the crystal, the molecular units are linked by C—H⋯S, N—H⋯O and N—H⋯S interactions, building a tape-like structure parallel to the (overline{1}01) plane, generating R21(7) and R22(8) graph-set motifs for the H⋯S interactions. The Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the major contributions for crystal cohesion are from H⋯H (55.00%), H⋯S (22.00%), H⋯N (8.90%) and H⋯O (8.40%) interactions. Full Article text
mi Synthesis and crystal structure of a mixed alkaline-earth powellite, Ca0.84Sr0.16MoO4 By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-01-03 A mixed alkaline-earth powellite, Ca0.84Sr0.16MoO4 (calcium strontium molybdate), was synthesized by a flux method and its crystal structure was solved using single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) data. The compound crystallized in the I41/a space group as with a typical CaMoO4 powellite, but with larger unit-cell parameters and unit-cell volume as a result of the partial incorporation of larger Sr cations into the Ca sites within the crystal. The unit cell and volume were well fitted with the trendline calculated from literature values, and the powder X-ray diffraction (P-XRD) pattern of the ground crystal is in good agreement with the calculated pattern from the solved structure. mi (E)-{[(Butylsulfanyl)methanethioyl]amino}(4-methoxybenzylidene)amine: crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-01-17 The title hydrazine carbodithioate, C13H18N2OS2, is constructed about a central and almost planar C2N2S2 chromophore (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0263 Å); the terminal methoxybenzene group is close to coplanar with this plane [dihedral angle = 3.92 (11)°]. The n-butyl group has an extended all-trans conformation [torsion angles S—Cm—Cm—Cm = −173.2 (3)° and Cm—Cm—Cm—Cme = 180.0 (4)°; m = methylene and me = methyl]. The most prominent feature of the molecular packing is the formation of centrosymmetric eight-membered {⋯HNCS}2 synthons, as a result of thioamide-N—H⋯S(thioamide) hydrogen bonds; these are linked via methoxy-C–H⋯π(methoxybenzene) interactions to form a linear supramolecular chain propagating along the a-axis direction. An analysis of the calculated Hirshfeld surfaces and two-dimensional fingerprint plots point to the significance of H⋯H (58.4%), S⋯H/H⋯S (17.1%), C⋯H/H⋯C (8.2%) and O⋯H/H⋯O (4.9%) contacts in the packing. The energies of the most significant interactions, i.e. the N—H⋯S and C—H⋯π interactions have their most significant contributions from electrostatic and dispersive components, respectively. The energies of two other identified close contacts at close to van der Waals distances, i.e. a thione–sulfur and methoxybenzene–hydrogen contact (occurring within the chains along the a axis) and between methylene-H atoms (occurring between chains to consolidate the three-dimensional architecture), are largely dispersive in nature. mi Crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and computational study of the 1:2 co-crystal formed between N,N'-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)ethanediamide and 4-chlorobenzoic acid By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-01-21 The asymmetric unit of the title 1:2 co-crystal, C14H14N4O2·2C7H5ClO2, comprises two half molecules of oxalamide (4LH2), as each is disposed about a centre of inversion, and two molecules of 4-chlorobenzoic acid (CBA), each in general positions. Each 4LH2 molecule has a (+)antiperiplanar conformation with the pyridin-4-yl residues lying to either side of the central, planar C2N2O2 chromophore with the dihedral angles between the respective central core and the pyridyl rings being 68.65 (3) and 86.25 (3)°, respectively, representing the major difference between the independent 4LH2 molecules. The anti conformation of the carbonyl groups enables the formation of intramolecular amide-N—H⋯O(amide) hydrogen bonds, each completing an S(5) loop. The two independent CBA molecules are similar and exhibit C6/CO2 dihedral angles of 8.06 (10) and 17.24 (8)°, indicating twisted conformations. In the crystal, two independent, three-molecule aggregates are formed via carboxylic acid-O—H⋯N(pyridyl) hydrogen bonding. These are connected into a supramolecular tape propagating parallel to [100] through amide-N—H⋯O(amide) hydrogen bonding between the independent aggregates and ten-membered {⋯HNC2O}2 synthons. The tapes assemble into a three-dimensional architecture through pyridyl- and methylene-C—H⋯O(carbonyl) and CBA-C—H⋯O(amide) interactions. As revealed by a more detailed analysis of the molecular packing by calculating the Hirshfeld surfaces and computational chemistry, are the presence of attractive and dispersive Cl⋯C=O interactions which provide interaction energies approximately one-quarter of those provided by the amide-N—H⋯O(amide) hydrogen bonding sustaining the supramolecular tape. In each complex, two deprotonated pyridine aroylhydrazone ligands {3,4,5-trimethoxy-N'-[1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene]benzohydrazide} coordinate to the ZnII ion through the N atoms of the pyridine group and the ketamine, and, additionally, through the O atom of the enolate group. In the crystal, dimers are formed by π–π interactions between the planar ligand moieties, which are further connected by C⋯O and C⋯C interactions. The intermolecular interactions were investigated using Hirshfeld surface analysis and two-dimensional fingerprint plots, revealing that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H⋯H (44.8%), H⋯C/C⋯H (22.2%), H⋯O/O⋯H (18.7%) and C⋯C (3.9%) interactions. mi Synthesis and crystal structure of (2S,4aR,8aR)-6-oxo-2,4a,6,8a-tetrahydropyrano[3,2-b]pyran-2-carboxamide By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-04-30 The pyranopyran amide (2S,4aR,8aR)-6-oxo-2,4a,6,8a-tetrahydropyrano[3,2-b]pyran-2-carboxamide, C9H9NO4, 3, was prepared by a chemoselective hydration of the corresponding nitrile, 2, using a heterogeneous catalytic method based on copper(II) supported on molecular sieves, in the presence of acetaldoxime. Compound 3 belongs to a new class of pyranopyrans that possess antibacterial and phytotoxic activity. Crystallographic analysis of 3 shows a bent structure for the cis-fused bicyclic pyranopyran, similar to nitrile 2. Evidence of an intramolecular hydrogen bond involving the amide group and ring oxygen was not observed; however, two separate intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions were observed between the amide hydrogen atoms and adjacent carbonyl oxygen atoms along the b- and a-axis directions. The latter interaction may also be supported by an intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bond. The lattice is filled out by close-packed layers of this hydrogen-bonded network along the c-axis direction, related from one to the next by a 21 screw axis. Full Article text
mi Crystal structure of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridinium-based hybrid salt (C13H12N3)2[MnCl4] By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-02-06 A new organic–inorganic hybrid salt [L]2[MnCl4] (I) where L+ is the 2-methyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)imidazo[1,5-a]pyridinium cation, is built of discrete organic cations and tetrachloridomanganate(II) anions. The L+ cation was formed in situ in the oxidative cyclocondensation of 2-pyridinecarbaldehyde and CH3NH2·HCl in methanol. The structure was refined as a two-component twin using PLATON (Spek, 2020) to de-twin the data. The twin law (−1 0 0 0 − 1 0 0.5 0 1) was applied in the refinement where the twin component fraction refined to 0.155 (1). The compound crystallizes in the space group P21/c with two crystallographically non-equivalent cations in the asymmetric unit, which possess similar structural conformations. The fused pyridinium and imidazolium rings of the cations are virtually coplanar [dihedral angles are 0.89 (18) and 0.78 (17)°]; the pendant pyridyl rings are twisted by 36.83 (14) and 36.14 (13)° with respect to the planes of the remaining atoms of the cations. The tetrahedral MnCl42– anion is slightly distorted with the Mn—Cl distances falling in the range 2.3469 (10)–2.3941 (9) Å. The distortion value of 0.044 relative to the ideal tetrahedron was obtained by continuous shape measurement (CShM) analysis. In the crystal, the cations and anions form separate stacks propagating along the a-axis direction. The organic cations display weak π–π stacking. The anions, which are stacked identically one above the other, demonstrate loose packing; the minimum Mn⋯Mn separation in the cation stack is approximately 7.49 Å. The investigation of the fluorescent properties of a powdered sample of (I) showed no emission. X-band EPR data for (I) at 293 and 77 K revealed broad fine structure signals, indicating moderate zero-field splitting. Full Article text

Compound (I) crystallizes in space group P21/c with Z' = 1, (II) in Pnma with Z' = 0.5 and (III) in Cmcm with Z' = 0.25. Consequently, the molecules of (II) are constrained by m and those of (III) by m2m site symmetries. Despite this, both (I) and (II) are distorted towards mild boat conformations, as is typical of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-substituted phenyl compounds, reflecting the high local steric pressure of the flanking alkyl groups. Compound (III) by contrast is planar and symmetric, and this lack of distortion is compatible with the lower steric pressure of the flanking 2,6-diisopropyl substituents. Full Article text
mi Crystal structure of poly[(μ3-4-amino-1,2,5-oxadiazole-3-hydroxamato)thallium(I)] By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-02-11 The title compound represents the thallium(I) salt of a substituted 1,2,5-oxadiazole, [Tl(C3H3N4O3)]n, with amino- and hydroxamate groups in the 4- and 3- positions of the oxadiazole ring, respectively. In the crystal, molecules are linked by C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to the (10overline{1}) plane, which are in turn linked by offset π–π interactions [intercentroid distances 3.4779 (9) and 3.6526 (8) Å], forming a supramolecular three-dimensional structure. Reaction of the ligand H2L1 with Cu(ClO4)2 in acetonitrile leads to the formation of the binuclear complex, [μ-(3-{hydroxy[(quinolin-8-yl)imino]methyl}pyrazin-2-yl)[(quinolin-8-yl)imino]methanolato]bis[diacetonitrilecopper(II)] tris(perchlorate) acetonitrile disolvate, [Cu2(C24H15N6O2)(CH3CN)4](ClO4)3·2CH3CN or [Cu2(HL1−)(CH3CN)4](ClO4)3·2CH3CN (I). In the cation of complex I, the ligand coordinates to the copper(II) atoms in a bis-tridentate fashion. A resonance-assisted O—H⋯O hydrogen bond is present in the ligand; the position of this H atom was located in a difference-Fourier map. Both copper(II) atoms are fivefold coordinate, being ligated by three N atoms of the ligand and by the N atoms of two acetonitrile molecules. The first copper atom has a perfect square-pyramidal geometry while the second copper atom has a distorted shape. In the crystal, the cation and perchlorate anions are linked by a number of C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a supramolecular three-dimensional structure. Full Article text

mi Redetermination of the crystal structure of R5Si4 (R = Pr, Nd) from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-03-10 The crystal structures of praseodymium silicide (5/4), Pr5Si4, and neodymium silicide (5/4), Nd5Si4, were redetermined using high-quality single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. The previous structure reports of Pr5Si4 were only based on powder X-ray diffraction data [Smith et al. (1967). Acta Cryst. 22 940–943; Yang et al. (2002b). J. Alloys Compd. 339, 189–194; Yang et al., (2003). J. Alloys Compd. 263, 146–153]. On the other hand, the structure of Nd5Si4 has been determined from powder data [neutron; Cadogan et al., (2002). J. Phys. Condens. Matter, 14, 7191–7200] and X-ray [Smith et al. (1967). Acta Cryst. 22 940–943; Yang et al. (2002b). J. Alloys Compd. 339, 189–194; Yang et al., (2003). J. Alloys Compd. 263, 146–153] and single-crystal data with isotropic atomic displacement parameters [Roger et al., (2006). J. Alloys Compd. 415, 73–84]. In addition, the anisotropic atomic displacement parameters for all atomic sites have been determined for the first time. These compounds are confirmed to have the tetragonal Zr5Si4-type structure (space group: P41212), as reported previously (Smith et al., 1967). The structure is built up by distorted body-centered cubes consisting of Pr(Nd) atoms, which are linked to each other by edge-sharing to form a three-dimensional framework. This framework delimits zigzag channels in which the silicon dimers are situated. Full Article text

mi Crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and computational study of 2-chloro-N-[4-(methylsulfanyl)phenyl]acetamide By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-03-31 In the title compound, C9H10ClNOS, the amide functional group –C(=O)NH– adopts a trans conformation with the four atoms nearly coplanar. This conformation promotes the formation of a C(4) hydrogen-bonded chain propagating along the [010] direction. The central part of the molecule, including the six-membered ring, the S and N atoms, is fairly planar (r.m.s. deviation of 0.014). The terminal methyl group and the C(=O)CH2 group are slightly deviating out-of-plane while the terminal Cl atom is almost in-plane. Hirshfeld surface analysis of the title compound suggests that the most significant contacts in the crystal are H⋯H, H⋯Cl/Cl⋯H, H⋯C/C⋯H, H⋯O/O⋯H and H⋯S/S⋯H. π–π interactions between inversion-related molecules also contribute to the crystal packing. DFT calculations have been performed to optimize the structure of the title compound using the CAM-B3LYP functional and the 6–311 G(d,p) basis set. The theoretical absorption spectrum of the title compound was calculated using the TD–DFT method. The analysis of frontier orbitals revealed that the π–π* electronic transition was the major contributor to the absorption peak in the electronic spectrum. Full Article text

mi Crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and DFT studies of 6-bromo-3-(12-bromododecyl)-2-(4-nitrophenyl)-4H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-04-21 The title compound, C24H30Br2N4O2, consists of a 2-(4-nitrophenyl)-4H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine entity with a 12-bromododecyl substituent attached to the pyridine N atom. The middle eight-carbon portion of the side chain is planar to within 0.09 (1) Å and makes a dihedral angle of 21.9 (8)° with the mean plane of the imidazolopyridine moiety, giving the molecule a V-shape. In the crystal, the imidazolopyridine units are associated through slipped π–π stacking interactions together with weak C—HPyr⋯ONtr and C—HBrmdcyl⋯ONtr (Pyr = pyridine, Ntr = nitro and Brmdcyl = bromododecyl) hydrogen bonds. The 12-bromododecyl chains overlap with each other between the stacks. The terminal –CH2Br group of the side chain shows disorder over two resolved sites in a 0.902 (3):0.098 (3) ratio. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H⋯H (48.1%), H⋯Br/Br⋯H (15.0%) and H⋯O/O⋯H (12.8%) interactions. The optimized molecular structure, using density functional theory at the B3LYP/ 6–311 G(d,p) level, is compared with the experimentally determined structure in the solid state. The HOMO–LUMO behaviour was elucidated to determine the energy gap. Full Article text
mi Structure of a push–pull olefin prepared by ynamine hydroboration with a borandiol ester By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-04-21 N-[(Z)-2-(2H-1,3,2-Benzodioxaborol-2-yl)-2-phenylethenyl]-N-(propan-2-yl)aniline, C23H22BNO2, contains a C=C bond that is conjugated with a donor and an acceptor group. An analysis that included similar push–pull olefins revealed that bond lengths in their B—C=C—N core units correlate with the perceived acceptor and donor strength of the groups. The two phenyl groups in the molecule are rotated with respect to the plane that contains the BCCN atoms, and are close enough for significant π-stacking. Definite characterization of the title compound demonstrates, for the first time in a reliable way, that hydroboration of ynamines with borandiol esters is feasible. Compared to olefin hydroboration with borane, the ynamine substrate is activated enough to undergo reaction with the less active hydroboration reagent catecholborane. Full Article text
mi Crystal structure and DFT computational studies of (E)-2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-{[3-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]iminomethyl}phenol By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-04-24 The title compound, C23H28F3NO, is an ortho-hydroxy Schiff base compound, which adopts the enol–imine tautomeric form in the solid state. The molecular structure is not planar and the dihedral angle between the planes of the aromatic rings is 85.52 (10)°. The trifluoromethyl group shows rotational disorder over two sites, with occupancies of 0.798 (6) and 0.202 (6). An intramolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bonding generates an S(6) ring motif. The crystal structure is consolidated by C—H⋯π interactions. The molecular structure was optimized via density functional theory (DFT) methods with the B3LYP functional and LanL2DZ basis set. The theoretical structure is in good agreement with the experimental data. The frontier orbitals and molecular electrostatic potential map were also examined by DFT computations. Full Article text
mi Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of 2-phenyl-1H-phenanthro[9,10-d]imidazol-3-ium benzoate By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-04-24 In the title compound, C21H15N2+·C7H5O2−, 2-phenyl-1H-phenanthro[9,10-d]imidazole and benzoic acid form an ion pair complex. The system is consolidated by hydrogen bonds along with π–π interactions and N—H⋯π interactions between the constituent units. For a better understanding of the crystal structure and intermolecular interactions, a Hirshfeld surface analysis was performed. Full Article text
mi Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of 4-{[(anthracen-9-yl)methyl]amino}benzoic acid dimethylformamide monosolvate By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-04-24 The title compound, C22H17NO2·C3H7NO, was synthesized by condensation of an aromatic aldehyde with a secondary amine and subsequent reduction. It was crystallized from a dimethylformamide solution as a monosolvate, C22H17NO2·C3H7NO. The aromatic molecule is non-planar with a dihedral angle between the mean planes of the aniline moiety and the methyl anthracene moiety of 81.36 (8)°. The torsion angle of the Caryl—CH2—NH—Caryl backbone is 175.9 (2)°. The crystal structure exhibits a three-dimensional supramolecular network, resulting from hydrogen-bonding interactions between the carboxylic OH group and the solvent O atom as well as between the amine functionality and the O atom of the carboxylic group and additional C—H⋯π interactions. Hirshfeld surface analysis was performed to quantify the intermolecular interactions. Full Article text
mi Synthesis and crystal structure of a pentacopper(II) 12-metallacrown-4: cis-diaquatetrakis(dimethylformamide-κO)manganese(II) tetrakis(μ3-N,2-dioxidobenzene-1-carboximidate)pentacopper(II) By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2020-04-30 The title compound, [Mn(C3H7NO)4(H2O)2][Cu5(C7H4NO3)4]·C3H7NO or cis-[Mn(H2O)2(DMF)4]{Cu[12-MCCu(II)N(shi)-4]}·DMF, where MC is metallacrown, shi3− is salicylhydroximate, and DMF is N,N-dimethylformamide, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n. Two crystallographically independent metallacrown anions are present in the structure, and both anions exhibit minor main molecule disorder by an approximate (non-crystallographic) 180° rotation with occupancy ratios of 0.9010 (9) to 0.0990 (9) for one anion and 0.9497 (8) to 0.0503 (8) for the other. Each pentacopper(II) metallacrown contains four CuII ions in the MC ring and a CuII ion captured in the central cavity. Each CuII ion is four-coordinate with a square-planar geometry. The anionic {Cu[12-MCCu(II)N(shi)-4]}2− is charged-balanced by the presence of a cis-[Mn(H2O)2(DMF)4]2+ cation located in the lattice. In addition, the octahedral MnII counter-cation is hydrogen bonded to both MC anions via the coordinated water molecules of the MnII ion. The water molecules form hydrogen bonds with the phenolate and carbonyl oxygen atoms of the shi3− ligands of the MCs. Full Article text
