Kinematic countermeasure

The present invention provides an improved kinematic countermeasure flare and method of constructing the same wherein the housing has integrated internal features. The flare nose weight is set at the end of a die core prior to molding for integration with the housing. Longitudinal grooves and other recesses in the die core allow for the formation of internal longitudinal ribs which propellant can bond to and a retaining bead for retaining the nose weight in the housing which are integrated with the housing. Propellant is cast into the formed housing. A propellant shaping mandrel is then inserted into the formed housing thereby forcing the propellant into the internal cavity created by the integrally molded longitudinal ribs, the shaping mandrel and the wall of the flare housing such that the propellant is bonded to the interior housing wall and the longitudinal ribs. This improved housing and method of construction eliminates the need to apply a non-flammable coating to propellant surfaces after its addition to the flare housing which a an imprecise and time consuming process.

Method and Device for Chronologically Synchronizing a Kinematic Location Network

Methods and devices are presented for synchronizing positioning signals in a kinematic location network. In particular, methods and devices are presented for synchronizing a unique positioning signal generated by a positioning-unit device to a reference positioning signal generated by a reference transmitter, where the positioning-unit device and the reference transmitter are moving relative to each other. In certain embodiments the reference transmitter or the positioning-unit device, or both, self-monitor trajectory data comprising one or more of location, velocity or acceleration, e.g. using inertial navigation systems, and broadcast that data in their positioning signals. The trajectory data enables estimation of Doppler shifts and propagation delays associated with the positioning signals, allowing measurement and correction of clock drift for synchronization of the positioning signals.

Of Note: Classical Music & Cinematography Collide in 'The Moon,' Artosphere's Finale Concert

Musical and cinematic storytelling collide in "The Moon," Artosphere Festival Orchestra's finale concert this Saturday, June 29, at Walton Arts Center . The concert, featuring music from Richard Strauss, John Williams, Debussy and more, pairs live classical music and narration with the George Melies' 1902 silent film “A Trip to the Moon.” Artistic director Francesco Micheli’s vision for "The Moon" project was born from his passion to explain music in other ways. “We try to build a journey by means of the music. We can say that we are on the Artosphere airlines, able to make an incredible journey between the starts and on the moon,” he said.
