9. BMX Männle Turnier Tuttlingen



On 12.08-13.08.17 the 9th time the BMX "Männle Turnier" takes place in Tuttlingen, it took place for the first time in 2009. At the Männle, there are different classes, no matter if you are big or small, everyone can register and prove themselves at the Männle Turnier. Besides the main contest, there are various jam sessions, a concert and a night session. If you need a housing and don't know where you can sleep, there is either a Hotel, which is 5min. From the park and where you get as a driver even a bonus, otherwise there is a small campsite right next to the skate park which is free of charge. We are happy that you're coming!

10th BMX Männle Turnier Tuttlingen



From the 04 - 05 of August 2018, the BMX Männle Turnier will take place again at the Skatepark in Tuttlingen. It's the 10th time for the BMX Männle Turnier, this means that we have to celebrate the anniversary on this weekend! You can sign up via e-mail info@bmx-maennle.de or on-site as usual. It's possible to pitch the tents directly at the park. Showers and toilets are also available directly at the park and can be used free and at any time. For a more comfortable stay, the Hotel Schlack offers single and double rooms at discounted rates.

BMX Winter Games Mühlhausen 2019



at the 23th of February the BMX Winter Games will take place at the new renovated Skatehall in Mühlhausen. You can choose between 4 disciplines (Park, Minirampe, Street and Vert). By the way there are overall 3000€ prize money. The starting fee per discipline is 5 euros, for all four disciplines 15 euros. If you don't want to take part in the contest, but still want to shred the new park, you've to roll the dice for your entry (1-6 EUR). Spectators have free admission.

Re-publication of 'Flora of Northumberland and Durham' (1831): A dramatic account of change

The classical treatise "Flora of Northumberland and Durham" by Nathaniel John Winch is re-published through the innovative Advanced Books platform as an example of combining modern information technology together with historical scholarship to create a new sort of resource and data re-use. This publication will be supporting ongoing research on the botany of the region, which can be seen as a model for other regions in Europe.

The on-line semantically enriched re-publication marries the meticulous detail of old books with the interconnectedness of the internet bringing advantages of the digitization and markup efforts such as data extraction and collation, distribution and re-use of content, archiving of different data elements in relevant repositories and so on.

"Historic biodiversity literature is not just of cultural interest, it can be used to chart biogeographic change and help us understand the impacts of environmental change on biodiversity. Even if we are trying to predict future scenarios for biodiversity, understanding the changes of the past will help understand the changes we should expect in the future" said Dr Quentin Groom from the Meise Botanical Garden, Belgium, who initiated the project and marked up the original text.

The North-east of England has seen many changes since the publication of Winch's Flora. In the 19th Century the area was a powerhouse of the industrial revolution. It was an important coal mining area and significant for the production of iron and steel. It was also a centre for industries such as shipbuilding and engineering. In contrast the uplands in the west of the region were some of the most isolated areas in England, covered in blanket bog and rarely visited.

Since that time heavy industry and mining have declined, but the population has continued to grow. Agriculture and forestry have become mechanized changing the countryside perhaps beyond the recognition of Winch. Many of the plants and localities he mentions have disappeared and a large number of new species have been introduced. The local botanists are still very active in the region. With GPS systems and modern maps they are mapping the region's flora in ever more detail.

The extensive efforts of Quentin Groom from the Botanic Garden Meise and editor of this re-publication combined with the cutting-edge technologies for semantic enhancements used by Pensoft's Advanced Books platform, have resulted in additional details including links to the original citations and coordinates of the mentioned localities. In some cases the habitat that Winch described for a locality differs dramatically from what can be found in the same location nowadays.

The flora, for example, frequently mentions Prestwick Carr, an area of lowland bog, once full of rare species. Sadly it was largely drained just thirty years after the publication of the flora. Yet in recent years the Northumberland Wildlife Trust has been working to restore the bog to its former glory. "When reading Winch's flora, it is easy to see what has been lost, but more importantly what remains to be conserved", comments Groom.

The re-publication of Winch's flora is just one step towards fully understanding all the impacts on wild plants of all the environmental changes that have occurred since the 19th century. Nevertheless, digitization of this flora not only tells us about plants but also about the history of science. Between the lines of this flora one can see a rudimentary understanding of ecology and the beginnings of research on phytogeography.

Consider that in 1831 Charles Darwin set sail on the Beagle, collecting and cataloguing biodiversity around the world, much as Winch had done in North-east England over the preceding 30 years. Field botany at the time was not just a hobby, but a serious pursuit that led to many new discoveries.

Understanding the causes of biodiversity change is only possible if you have data over a long period. The North-east England has an enviable botanical history dating back to William Turner (1508-1568), the so-called, Father of English Botany, who came from Morpeth in Northumberland. Yet he was only the first in a long list of North-eastern botanists, including John Wallis (1714-1793), Nathaniel John Winch (1769-1838), John Gilbert Baker (1834-1920), George Ralph Tate (1805-1871), Gordon Graham and George Swan (1917). Their publications and the works of many others have contributed to a large corpus of literature on the region's flora.

Thoughts From a Pastoral Team Strategist

When I started my ministry career 18 years ago, I never thought I would ever type the title of this entry: Thoughts from a Pastoral Team Strategist. I definitely wasn’t desiring to fill that role on a pastoral team. I wanted to see my dreams fulfilled in much different ways. I am still convinced that Jesus has called me to something completely different than strategist. I am a worship pastor/worship leader/singer/songwriter/artist. Jesus and I are still arguing about this. Turns out He is just as stubborn as the Son of God should be.

I started falling into the role of systems/strategy guy on pastoral teams because it was a very obvious need on the staffs I was part of. Turns out that a lot of pastors lean towards hiring very talented people with specialized, but limited, skill sets. Administration isn’t sexy…and is hard to put on a visible platform. Many church staffs find themselves comprised of really talented speakers, Bible scholars, personalities, musicians, media gurus and kids' creative types. There is a huge gap in a lot of churches and that gap isn't in the visionary/dreamer category.

The global church is packed full of people that have the vision and the dream but is lacking on willing people called to set aside their personal dreams to help another pastor make a bigger impact. This is where I come in. I’m sure I have the capacity to be a visionary on some things, but I know I am called to serve my lead pastor. I am called to help him be the healthiest pastor possible and to create environments in which his vision can come to life. I am called to bring a strategy to his vision. I am called to be one of his No. 2’s. I am not called to push my agenda or make the next coolest worship recording that would distract our church from the bigger picture. (Even though we do and will make cool recordings, my heart is to resource the church with stories of what God is doing at my church.) 

Being a pastoral team strategist has been an interesting and stretching journey. I have navigated this role for a while now. But only for the last 4 years have I been given the authority to go with the burden. I serve my lead pastor as one of his executive pastors. I am loving this role and, to my surprise, it feels like a good fit. I connect really well with other leaders in this field. I feel fulfilled, for the most part, helping our ministries align with values, culture and best practices. When the team wins, I win. I have grown in my ability to love our pastoral team and respect them. I wasn’t expecting this when I said yes to the position, but when you pray for your team every day, you see people differently. God has been rewiring me from the inside out and that has its joys and pains (more on that later).

I feel the onus of giving 150% of myself to this role because I think it is the difference maker in a successful organization. There is a delicate balance between vision and strategy. I have made some notes along the way that may help you if you ever find yourself in a systems/strategy rut. I have numerous influences in my life when it comes to organizational leadership and vision/strategy; ( you probably do too)—Rick Lorimer (my pastor), Bill Hybels, Andy Stanley, Chris Sonksen, Dan Reiland, Jim Collins and Henry Cloud. (Just ask me if you’d like a specific resource recommendation.) I am sure most of my musings are not original but maybe my commentary has a different spin on it. Just a few things to chew on:

 Vision without strategy is just a good idea.

  • This is a personal conviction of mine. I believe God is speaking all the time and that He has anointed and appointed our lead pastors as the CVO’s (chief visionary officer) of our organizations. I have been a part of small and large, Christian and non-Christian organizations that never fell short of having incredible ideas. The problem is, sometimes you can become so enamored about a really great idea that you don’t think about practicality. You can easily forget about the capacity of the team. You can find yourself being so excited, with good intentions, but you accidentally “out punt your coverage.” Some leaders won’t agree with me on this point, but I don’t think it is the lead pastor’s job to carry this burden. I believe the role of the executive pastor is to have an open relationship with the lead pastor to help process his or her vision. Is this vision for now or later? Is it obtainable/ sustainable? Does this complicate anything? Can we pay for it and how? What do we need to change to make this vision happen? Do we say yes to this or do we keep praying? Not every vision or burden is meant to be developed. Just like a songwriter, a visionary must never stop dreaming. For every good song I’ve written, there are ten others I threw away and no one will ever hear them. (Maybe that song was just for Jesus.) It is my job to make sure my lead pastor has the freedom to keep dreaming.

Vision made public invites accountability.

  • I remember when I felt God tell me to share that in 2011 we were going to make a worship recording. We didn’t have the talent or experience. I had no idea how this was gong to happen. I closed my eyes and vision cast this in front of our worship department. I was scared to death, but knew I needed accountability if this was going to happen. Strategy came later, but this was an essential move to make sure that I would take the risk and make a bold move. Strategy or no strategy, if you share your vision publicly, people will expect something from you. Use that public share momentum to develop strategy and to shepherd buy-in. You don’t need a strategy in place to share a vision; you just need to be committed to develop one. It is so easy for charismatic (likeable) personalities to get distracted by accusations of manipulation when they don’t have a strategy. But when people hear a great vision, they should ask questions, like, “How can I get involved?”  “What’s next?”  “What are you asking me to do?” Don’t miss an opportunity to develop onramps to your vision because you haven’t identified a next step. People often allow themselves to feel “satisfied” by just feeling excited or inspired. Our job as pastors is to equip people to do kingdom work. Vision cast to inspire God’s people but commit to developing a strategy, and then empower them to be part of the mission as well.

 Strategy or no strategy, if you share your vision publicly, people will expect something from you.

 Never allow lack of strategy to kill the vision.

  • I believe that God is in the dream and the devil is in the details. Commit to developing a strategy but don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t come right away. Keep working at it and inviting the right people into the conversation. Some of the best, most impacting visions are accompanied by resistance. When it comes to your vision, there is nothing the devil loves more than to discourage you and steal your confidence. If he succeeds at this, then he stops you from dreaming.

One of my favorite quotes from John Maxwell is: “He who thinks he leads, but has no followers, is only out for a walk.”  Strategy is simply a vehicle to allow people to follow your God-given vision.  A simple tweak in your leadership conviction could be the difference between walking alone or leading an army.

Fearing Le Pen, the left saves Macron and recovers "pink neoliberalism"

The big loser in the French elections was not the far right. It's true that if it hadn't been for the spurious agreements between the New Popular Front and the Macronists, the National Regroupment would have grown even more. But the result of the second round is not exactly a victory for the left. After Marine Le Pen's RN led the first round of the elections, the leaders of the NFP fell into the trap of the French press and Emmanuel Macron, abandoning numerous candidates of their own to increase the chances of the neoliberal right linked to the Renaissance party beating the far right.  The French big bourgeoisie called for a "republican front" to create a "cordon sanitaire" made up of the left and the neoliberal right in order to prevent a landslide victory for the RN, which led to agreements in around 220 constituencies for the candidate with supposedly the least chance of winning the RN to abandon the race in favour of the candidate with the greatest chance. Except that most of the abandonments were by the NFP so that Macron's allies could beat Le Pen's allies, even though the NFP came second in the first round, far ahead of Macron's coalition.

Herein, the single-crystal X-ray structure of α-d-2'-de­oxy­adenosine (α-dA), C10H13N5O3, and its conformational parameters were determined. In the crystalline state, α-dA forms two conformers in the asymmetric unit which are connected by hydro­gen bonds. The sugar moiety of each conformer is arranged in a `clamp'-like fashion with respect to the other conformer, forming hydro­gen bonds to its nucleobase and sugar residue. For both conformers, a syn conformation of the nucleobase with respect to the sugar moiety was found. This is contrary to the anti conformation usually preferred by α-nucleosides. The sugar conformation of both conformers is C2'-endo, and the 5'-hydroxyl groups are in a +sc orientation, probably due to the hydro­gen bonds formed by the conformers. The formation of the supra­molecular assembly of α-dA is controlled by hydro­gen bonding and stacking inter­actions, which was verified by a Hirshfeld and curvedness surface analysis. Chains of hydro­gen-bonded nucleobases extend parallel to the b direction and are linked to equivalent chains by hydro­gen bonds involving the sugar moieties to form a sheet. A com­parison of the solid-state structures of the anomeric 2'-de­oxy­adenosines revealed significant differences of their conformational parameters.

Borotropic shifting of the hydro­tris­[3-(2-furyl)pyrazol-1-yl]borate ligand in high-coordinate lan­tha­nide com­plexes

The coordination of hydro­tris­[3-(2-furyl)pyrazol-1-yl]borate (Tp2-Fu, C21H16BN6O3) to lan­tha­nide(III) ions is achieved for the first time with the com­plex [Ln(Tp2-Fu)2](BPh4)·xCH2Cl2 (1-Ln has Ln = Ce and x = 2; 1-Dy has Ln = Dy and x = 1). This was accom­plished via both hydrous (Ln = Ce) and anhydrous methods (Ln = Dy). When isolating the dysprosium analogue, the filtrate produced a second crop of crystals which were revealed to be the 1,2-borotropic-shifted product [Dy(κ4-Tp2-Fu)(κ5-Tp2-Fu*)](BPh4) (2) {Tp2-Fu* = hydro­bis­[3-(2-furyl)pyrazol-1-yl][5-(2-furyl)pyrazol-1-yl]borate}. We con­clude that the pres­ence of a strong Lewis acid and a sterically crowded coordination environment are contributing factors for the 1,2-borotropic shifting of scorpionate ligands in conjunction with the size of the conical angle with the scorpionate ligand.

Mol­ecular structure and selective theophylline com­plexation by conformational change of diethyl N,N'-(1,3-phenyl­ene)dicarbamate

The receptor ability of diethyl N,N'-(1,3-phenyl­ene)dicarbamate (1) to form host–guest com­plexes with theophylline (TEO) and caffeine (CAF) by mechanochemistry was evaluated. The formation of the 1–TEO com­plex (C12H16N2O4·C7H8N4O2) was preferred and involves the conformational change of one of the ethyl carbamate groups of 1 from the endo conformation to the exo conformation to allow the formation of inter­molecular inter­actions. The formation of an N—H⋯O=C hydrogen bond between 1 and TEO triggers the conformational change of 1. CAF mol­ecules are unable to form an N—H⋯O=C hydrogen bond with 1, making the conformational change and, therefore, the formation of the com­plex impossible. Conformational change and selective binding were monitored by IR spectroscopy, solid-state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The 1–TEO com­plex was characterized by IR spectroscopy, solid-state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance, powder X-ray diffraction and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

Synthesis, characterization and structural analysis of com­plexes from 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine derivatives with transition metals

The synthesis and structural characterization of three families of coordination com­plexes synthesized from 4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (8, Ph-TPY), 4'-(4-chloro­phen­yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (9, ClPh-TPY) and 4'-(4-meth­oxy­phen­yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (10, MeOPh-TPY) ligands with the divalent metals Co2+, Fe2+, Mn2+ and Ni2+ are reported. The com­pounds were synthesized from a 1:2 mixture of the metal and ligand, resulting in a series of com­plexes with the general formula [M(R-TPY)2](ClO4)2 (where M = Co2+, Fe2+, Mn2+ and Ni2+, and R-TPY = Ph-TPY, ClPh-TPY and MeOPh-TPY). The general formula and structural and supra­molecular features were determinated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction for bis­(4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine)­nickel(II) bis­(per­chlo­rate), [Ni(C21H15N3)2](ClO4)2 or [Ni(Ph-TPY)2](ClO4)2, bis­[4'-(4-meth­oxy­phen­yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]­manganese(II) bis­(per­chlo­rate), [Mn(C22H17N3O)2](ClO4)2 or [Mn(MeOPh-TPY)2](ClO4)2, and bis­(4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-ter­py­ridine)­manganese(II) bis­(per­chlo­rate), [Mn(C21H15N3)2](ClO4)2 or [Mn(Ph-TPY)2](ClO4)2. In all three cases, the com­plexes present distorted octa­hedral coordination polyhedra and the crystal packing is determined mainly by weak C—H⋯π inter­actions. All the com­pounds (except for the Ni derivatives, for which FT–IR, UV–Vis and thermal analysis are reported) were fully characterized by spectroscopic (FT–IR, UV–Vis and NMR spectroscopy) and thermal (TGA–DSC, thermogravimetric analysis–differential scanning calorimetry) methods.

Using cocrystals as a tool to study non-crystallizing mol­ecules: crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and com­putational study of the 1:1 cocrystal of (E)-N-(3,4-di­fluoro­phen­yl)-1-(pyridin-4-yl)methanimine and acetic

Using a 1:1 cocrystal of (E)-N-(3,4-di­fluoro­phen­yl)-1-(pyridin-4-yl)methanimine with acetic acid, C12H8F2N2·C2H4O2, we investigate the influence of F atoms introduced to the aromatic ring on promoting π–π inter­actions. The cocrystal crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1. Through crystallographic analysis and com­putational studies, we reveal the mol­ecular arrangement within this co­crystal, demonstrating the presence of hydrogen bonding between the acetic acid mol­ecule and the pyridyl group, along with π–π inter­actions between the aromatic rings. Our findings highlight the importance of F atoms in promoting π–π inter­actions without necessitating full halogenation of the aromatic ring.

Crystal structure and cryomagnetic study of a mononuclear erbium(III) ox­am­ate inclusion com­plex

The synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of an ox­am­ate-con­taining erbium(III) com­plex, namely, tetra­butyl­ammonium aqua­[N-(2,4,6-tri­methyl­phen­yl)oxamato]erbium(III)–di­methyl sulfoxide–water (1/3/1.5), (C16H36N)[Er(C11H12NO3)4(H2O)]·3C2H6OS·1.5H2O or n-Bu4N[Er(Htmpa)4(H2O)]·3DMSO·1.5H2O (1), are reported. The crystal structure of 1 reveals the occurrence of an erbium(III) ion, which is surrounded by four N-phenyl-substituted ox­am­ate ligands and one water mol­ecule in a nine-coordinated environment, together with one tetra­butyl­ammonium cation acting as a counter-ion, and one water and three dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) mol­ecules of crystallization. Variable-temperature static (dc) and dynamic (ac) magnetic mea­sure­ments were carried out for this mononuclear com­plex, revealing that it behaves as a field-induced single-ion magnet (SIM) below 5.0 K.

A brief review on com­puter simulations of chal­co­py­rite surfaces: structure and reactivity

Chalcopyrite, the world's primary copper ore mineral, is abundant in Latin America. Copper extraction offers significant economic and social benefits due to its strategic importance across various industries. However, the hydro­metallurgical route, considered more environmentally friendly for processing low-grade chal­co­py­rite ores, remains challenging, as does its concentration by froth flotation. This limited understanding stems from the poorly understood structure and reactivity of chal­co­py­rite surfaces. This study reviews recent contributions using density functional theory (DFT) calculations with periodic boundary conditions and slab models to elucidate chal­co­py­rite surface properties. Our analysis reveals that reconstructed surfaces preferentially expose S atoms at the topmost layer. Furthermore, some studies report the formation of di­sulfide groups (S22−) on pristine sulfur-terminated surfaces, accom­panied by the reduction of Fe3+ to Fe2+, likely due to surface oxidation. Additionally, Fe sites are consistently identified as favourable adsorption locations for both oxygen (O2) and water (H2O) mol­ecules. Finally, the potential of com­puter modelling for investigating collector–chal­co­py­rite surface inter­actions in the context of selective froth flotation is discussed, highlighting the need for further research in this area.

Formation of a di­iron–(μ-η1:η1-CN) com­plex from aceto­nitrile solution

The activation of C—C bonds by transition-metal com­plexes is of continuing inter­est and aceto­nitrile (MeCN) has attracted attention as a cyanide source with com­paratively low toxicity for organic cyanation reactions. A di­iron end-on μ-η1:η1-CN-bridged com­plex was obtained from a crystallization experiment of an open-chain iron–NHC com­plex, namely, μ-cyanido-κ2C:N-bis­{[(aceto­nitrile-κN)[3,3'-bis­(pyridin-2-yl)-1,1'-(methyl­idene)bis­(benzimidazol-2-yl­idene)]iron(II)} tris­(hexa­fluoro­phos­phate), [Fe2(CN)(C2H3N)2(C25H18N6)2](PF6)3. The cyanide appears to originate from the MeCN solvent by C—C bond cleavage or through carbon–hy­dro­gen oxidation.
