ual Marcionism was an Early Christian dualist belief system that originated in the teachings of Marcion of Sinope at Rome around the year 144 A.D. -- Marcion believed Jesus Christ was the savior sent by God and Paul of Tarsus was his chief apostle, **but he r By en.wikipedia.org Published On :: Marcionism, similar to Gnosticism, depicted the Hebrew God of the Old Testament as a tyrant or demiurge (see also God as the Devil). Marcion was labeled as gnostic by Eusebius. **Marcion's canon consisted of [only] eleven [NT] books: A gospel consisting of ten sections from the Gospel of Luke edited by Marcion; and ten of Paul's epistles. All other epistles and gospels of the 27 book New Testament canon were rejected. Paul's epistles enjoy a prominent position in the Marcionite canon, since Paul is credited with correctly transmitting the universality of Jesus' message. Other authors' epistles [Notably: Peter, James, Jude, Matthew and John] were rejected since they seemed to suggest that Jesus had simply come to found a new sect within broader Judaism. Religious tribalism of this sort seemed to echo Yahwism, and was thus regarded as a corruption of the "Heavenly Father"'s teaching. ***Marcionism was denounced by its opponents as heresy, and written against, notably by Tertullian, in a five-book treatise Adversus Marcionem, written about 208 A.D. Marcion's writings are lost, though they were widely read and numerous manuscripts must have existed. Even so, many scholars (including Henry Wace) claim it is possible to reconstruct and deduce a large part of ancient Marcionism through what later critics, especially Tertullian, said concerning Marcion. The best definition of the Trinity is that there is only one God, but in unity of the divine and infinite Godhead there are three personalities, the Father, the Word (or Son), and Holy Spirit, of one substance, power and eternity, each having the whole divine essence, yet the essence undivided. Again in simpler terms; There is only one God, but in the unity of the Godhead there are three eternal and co-equal Persons; the same in essence but distinct in existence. ual The Holiness Movement by Gary Gilley -- The Holiness Movement actually traces its roots to John Wesley (June 28, 1703 - March 2, 1791) in the eighteenth-century, who taught sort of a two-tiered salvation - The first tier [John 20:22, Luke 24:45 - initial By www.svchapel.org Published On :: Revivalists, in the early 1800s, such as Asa Mahan (president of Oberlin College) and evangelist Charles Finney advanced Wesley's theology. They taught "that sinners had the natural ability to believe, and that evangelistic methods could overcome their 'moral' inability through the persuasive power of the Gospel." "Finney and Mahan applied this same understanding to the Christian's growth toward spiritual maturity. To be sanctified, they insisted, required only the same kind of simple, instantaneous faith one exercised to be converted." In 1836 both men experienced what they called "baptisms of the Holy Ghost" which they believed not only freed them from committing sin but also removed their tendency toward sin. Contributing to the spread of this "Holiness" doctrine were the popular camp meeting revivals of the first half of the 1800s, the ministry of Phoebe Palmer (1807-1874) (who taught that sanctification could be reached instantaneously by an act of faith) and the "Prayer Revival" of 1857-1858 (sometimes called the Third Great Awakening). There was also much unrest in Methodist circles as many felt the denomination had lost its fervor. The Wesleyan Methodist (in 1843) and the Free Methodist (in 1860) left the denomination to form the first Holiness denominations. Until the 1890s the Holiness Movement was largely a Methodist phenomenon, but as the Methodists settled more into mainstream Christianity tensions escalated into a schism which resulted in new, non-Methodist, Holiness denominations. These included the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana (1880), Church of the Nazarene (1908) and Pilgrim Holiness Church (1897). The Holiness adherents saw themselves as the true descendents of the Wesleys and practiced strict moral ethics, abstinence from worldly pleasures and amusements and a strong belief in entire sanctification (also known as the "second blessing" and the baptism of the Holy Spirit). More importantly "Holiness teaching offered 19th-century evangelicals a means of overcoming their sectarian conflicts. Doctrine might divide, but the experience of a pure heart would unite all true believers against the threats posed by religious formalism, atheism, and Roman Catholicism." This Holiness emphasis would continue to be spread throughout the 19th century by individuals and groups as diverse as the Salvation Army, Quakers, D. L. Moody, Hannah Whitall Smith, the Y.M.C.A., the Keswick Movement and Oswald Chambers. A brief explanation concerning some of those might prove helpful. ... Maturity in Christ is expected of every believer; freedom from spiritual battle with the world, the flesh and the devil is attained only in the next life. At the same time, we must be careful that we do not over react to Holiness philosophy and believe that godliness is attained through our own self-determined efforts of obedience. We are certainly called to obedience, but it is not a self-energized, self-motivated or self-obtaining obedience. It is an obedience made possible only because of the power of God in our lives. This is the consistent teaching of the New Testament, but we will direct our attention to Romans 8:12-13. So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh-for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Peterson, once again, summarizes things well, "Holiness of life is not simply attained by moral effort nor even by striving to keep the law of God. It is not even a matter of 'letting go and letting God.' Practical holiness involves 'putting to death' in our lives what God has already sentenced to death on the cross ('mortification') and living out the new life given to us by the indwelling Christ. Human effort is required, but not apart from, nor distinct from the activity of God's Spirit, who subdues the flesh as we mortify it in His power, and as we set our minds upon the things of the Spirit." -- Holiness of life should be the heart-felt desire of every Christian. But that holiness is not found in either short-cuts or self effort. **It is found as we pursue righteousness (2 Timothy 2:22) laying aside the deeds of the flesh (Colossians 3:5-10) through the power of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16) and as we behold the glory of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18). The Holiness Movement was in many ways a reaction to the dead orthodoxy and lifeless spirituality that infiltrated so much of Christianity during the nineteenth-century. However, its [explicit] remedy, a second blessing [based more on human ability] resulting in the eradication of sinful tendencies and a higher life not available to the unbaptized, went beyond the teaching of Scripture. As is often the case in reactionary movements, the cure [i.e. a cultural salvation, human based rules salvation] may be as bad as the [original sin] disease. Full Article

ual Fedora KDE approved to become of equal status to Fedora GNOME By www.osnews.com Published On :: Fri, 08 Nov 2024 20:33:50 +0000 Earlier this year, a proposal was made to replace the primary edition of Fedora from the GNOME variant to the KDE variant. This proposal, while serious, was mostly intended to stir up discussion about the position of the Fedora KDE spin within the larger Fedora community, and it seems this has had its intended effect. A different, but related proposal, to make Fedora KDE equal in status to the Fedora GNOME variant, has been accepted. The original proposal read: After a few months of being live, the proposal has now been unanimously accepted, which means that starting with Fedora 42, the GNOME and KDE versions will have equal status, and thus will receive equal marketing and positioning on the website. Considering how many people really enjoy Fedora KDE, this is a great outcome, and probably the fairest way to handle the situation for a distribution as popular as Fedora. I use Fedora KDE on all my machines, so for me, this is great news. Full Article Fedora Core

ual The Duality Of Internet Network Marketing By work-from-home-success.blogspot.com Published On :: Mon, 23 Jul 2007 20:23:00 +0000 (This is an extract from our newsletter - if you wouldlike to find out more check out the resource box)It's a beautiful morning here in Washington DC. I wokeup and went out side and just sat there for a fewminutes to listen. There's a light breeze and justhearing the rustling of the leaves as gentle wind blowson them is a powerfully calming feeling. As I sat there I thought about the Internet and how weuse it. As I watched the leaves blow from one directionto the next an extremely important principle poppedinto my mind. Something I've never thought aboutdirectly, but just as that gentle wind blew the leavesfrom direction so does this affect your business, maybewithout you even knowing about it.This may be one of the most important emails that Iever send to you. If you can understand what I am aboutto say you'll understand the true fabric of both theInternet and using the Internet to grow your networkmarketing business.Understand this . . .Just as there are two sides to everything, a ying andyang to say, so are there two sides to your internetbusiness and many make the mistake by not taking noteof this. There are several things that you can do to generatetargeted traffic to your site and for each and everysingle one of them there are about 50 guys withproducts telling you and me how to do them the best. That's fine and it's actually a good sign because itmeans there truly is more than one way to skin a catwith any given traffic generation technique, but unlessyou realize what you're doing you can put a great dealof undue stress on yourself.I don't mean know what you're doing in terms of beingan expert in any of this stuff, I mean a goal, a visionof what your business is going to look like one yearfrom now, and then 5 and 10 years from now.Without this you can easily put yourself in a positionwhere you're doing far too much for little to noappreciable result and a mind full of mixed emotionsand fear.Quite a few of the people that email me fall into thistrap. (It's not their fault, it just happens to us apeople if we're not aware of what's going on in ourmind and let our emotions lead us.)Their emails go something like this . . ."John I've been doing xyz and I've generated sometraffic, but no one is buying anything I'm scared, frustrated, and I think I'm going to quite."What you think is what generally happens so when I readthese words I can literally see the little spark thatstarted their business start to flutter out.Further . . .Even putting things like this into writing is the wrongidea because it creates and transmits the wrong mentalvibe for success, and mostly likely will send you on adownward spiral towards a negative outlook on yourbusiness. And if you're not positive about yourbusiness you're on the way out. It's reactionary in nature. Entrepreneurs don't reactthey create. And all this happens because most don't really knowwhat they are doing. They have a vague idea that theywant more money right now and they've found a businesswith an opportunity to fulfill that, but they don'tthink past it.This happened to me when I began and it left me open toself victimization. Anything that promised me money nowI boughtand subsequently failed.Understand this about the internet . . .There are things that you can do that are quick fixesand others that will build a foundation so that yourbusiness continues to grow for years to come.I chose to do the later, after trying the other way.The strategies and the mental focus differsignificantly. If you think I need to set up a PPC campaign so that Ican get people into my business today because I needmoney right now then you'll most likely do thefollowing. You'll find the quickest and easiest way to put up avaguely targeted Google Adwords campaign and just throwit out there to see what sticks. Most of the stuff won't. And you'll say I generatedsome traffic but nothing is happening. On the other hand, if you think with a long termperspective in mind on your business when you approachyour marketing, even with that same exact PPC campaignyou'll do things totally differently. You'll say I want this campaign to still producetargeted traffic a year from now and I don't want tohave to keep updating it all the time so let me makesure when I do my research I do it thoroughly so Iwon't have to do it again. It will take longer to do, but the results are muchmuch better both in the short and long term.Do you see what I'm saying here? It's where you focus you mind in your marketing thatwill dictate your results.Think first of what you want and then create yourinternet advertising campaign around that, and what youwant has to be more specific than just some targetedtraffic and some leads and some people in my businessso that I make money now.Have a real defined end in mind before the game begins. And don't think this faulty mindset is something thatonly happens to us as marketers. It happens to ownersof network marketing companies that go out of businessin just a few short years and those guys launchingproduct after product just to see what we will buy. These people also have a frantic "now now now" frame ofmind.Think about the type of people and companies you aredealing with just as much as yourself when doing yourmarketing.Stay as far away from those with vaguely defined goalsand visions of what they want no matter if they areyour upline leader, company owner, or the guy you'rethinking about buying an eBook from. Why?Well remember how I said I was listening and watchingthe leaves blow in the wind?If you or you follow the advice of a person who onlythinks about right now well then you become just likethose leaves. You leave yourself open to whateverweather blows you're way.If you plan and set out only to do those things thatfit your plan you root yourself deep into the groundlike a sturdy oak tree that ain't moving.Internet Network Marketing is about creating long termstable wealth online, not vague ideas on how to getrich quick only to be left broke.
