interoperability Why is interoperability between the two fields of chemical crystallography and protein crystallography so difficult? By scripts.iucr.org Published On :: 2019-08-13 The interoperability of chemical and biological crystallographic data is a key challenge to research and its application to pharmaceutical design. Research attempting to combine data from the two disciplines, small-molecule or chemical crystallography (CX) and macromolecular crystallography (MX), will face unique challenges including variations in terminology, software development, file format and databases which differ significantly from CX to MX. This perspective overview spans the two disciplines and originated from the investigation of protein binding to model radiopharmaceuticals. The opportunities of interlinked research while utilizing the two databases of the CSD (Cambridge Structural Database) and the PDB (Protein Data Bank) will be highlighted. The advantages of software that can handle multiple file formats and the circuitous route to convert organometallic small-molecule structural data for use in protein refinement software will be discussed. In addition some pointers to avoid being shipwrecked will be shared, such as the care which must be taken when interpreting data precision involving small molecules versus proteins. Full Article text
interoperability National Academy of Medicine Publication Outlines Use of Procurement Requirements to Drive Interoperability in Health Care By feedproxy.google.com Published On :: Fri, 12 Oct 2018 05:00:00 GMT While health care has made great strides in recent years with the proliferation of electronic health records (EHRs), establishment of regional health information exchanges, and development of data exchange standards and interfaces, interoperability among health care technologies remains very limited, says a new National Academy of Medicine (NAM) special publication. interoperability Redundancy and interoperability in multi-channel optoelectronic devices By www.freepatentsonline.com Published On :: Tue, 19 May 2015 08:00:00 EDT A multi-channel optoelectronic device is configured to establish a redundant status link with a remote device. The optoelectronic device can transmit N transmit optical signals to the remote device over a plurality of transmit channels and receive N receive optical signals from the remote device over a plurality of receive channels. The optoelectronic device includes one or more spare transmit and receive channels. When used with a remote device having spare transmit and receive channels, each device can establish a status link with the other and use the status link to switch out transmit and/or receive channels to identify and permanently switch out the worst transmit and/or receive channels. Alternately, the device can interoperate with a non-status-link enabled remote device by determining that the remote device is not status-link enabled, transitioning to a low transmit power mode, and transmitting and receiving over a plurality of default transmit and receive channels. interoperability interoperability By looselycoupled.com Published On :: 2003-08-07T17:00:00-00:00 Ability to work with each other. In the loosely coupled environment of a service-oriented architecture, separate resources don't need to know the details of how they each work, but they need to have enough common ground to reliably exchange messages without error or misunderstanding. Standardized specifications go a long way towards creating this common ground, but differences in implementation may still lead to breakdowns in communication. Interoperability is when services can interact with each other without encountering such problems. Full Article
