Hydrogen bonding contributes to the organization of the asymmetric units in columns along the a axis generating a porous supra­molecular structure. The structure was refined as a two-component twin with a refined BASF value of 0.4104 (13).

The structure of the title compound, [C14H18N2)2Ag2](NO3)2, contains subtle differences in ligand, metal, and counter-anion coordination. One quinoxaline ligand uses one of its quinoxaline N atoms to bond to one silver cation. That silver cation is bound to a second quinoxaline which, in turn, is bound to a second silver atom; thereby using both of its quinoxaline N atoms. A nitrate group bonds with one of its O atoms to the first silver and uses the same oxygen to bond to a silver atom (related by symmetry to the second), thereby forming an extended network. The second nitrate group on the other silver bonds via two nitrate O atoms; one silver cation therefore has a coordination number of three whereas the second has a coordination number of four. One of the quinoxaline ligands has a disordered ethyl group.

The title compound, [Ru(C19H13N5)2](PF6)2·3C4H10O, was obtained from the reaction of Ru(bimpy)Cl3 [bimpy is 2,6-bis­(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine] and bimpy in refluxing ethanol followed by recrystallization from diethyl ether/aceto­nitrile. At 125 K the complex has ortho­rhom­bic (Pca21) symmetry. It is remarkable that the structure is almost centrosymmetric. However, refinement in space group Pbcn leads to disorder and definitely worse results. It is of inter­est with respect to potential catalytic reduction of CO2. The structure displays N—H⋯O, N—H⋯F hydrogen bonding and significant π–π stacking and C—H⋯π stacking inter­actions.

Mol­ecular structure and selective theophylline com­plexation by conformational change of diethyl N,N'-(1,3-phenyl­ene)dicarbamate

The receptor ability of diethyl N,N'-(1,3-phenyl­ene)dicarbamate (1) to form host–guest com­plexes with theophylline (TEO) and caffeine (CAF) by mechanochemistry was evaluated. The formation of the 1–TEO com­plex (C12H16N2O4·C7H8N4O2) was preferred and involves the conformational change of one of the ethyl carbamate groups of 1 from the endo conformation to the exo conformation to allow the formation of inter­molecular inter­actions. The formation of an N—H⋯O=C hydrogen bond between 1 and TEO triggers the conformational change of 1. CAF mol­ecules are unable to form an N—H⋯O=C hydrogen bond with 1, making the conformational change and, therefore, the formation of the com­plex impossible. Conformational change and selective binding were monitored by IR spectroscopy, solid-state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The 1–TEO com­plex was characterized by IR spectroscopy, solid-state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance, powder X-ray diffraction and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

In the title compound, C18H22O7, two hexane rings and an oxane ring are fused together. The two hexane rings tend toward a distorted boat conformation, while the tetra­hydro­furan and di­hydro­furan rings adopt envelope conformations. The oxane ring is puckered. The crystal structure features C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which link the mol­ecules into a three-dimensional network. According to a Hirshfeld surface study, H⋯H (60.3%) and O⋯H/H⋯O (35.3%) inter­actions are the most significant contributors to the crystal packing.

In the crystal, the only identifiable directional inter­action is a weak C—H⋯π hydrogen bond, which generates inversion dimers that stack along the a-axis direction.

The synthesis, crystal structure, and a Hirshfeld surface analysis of tris­{N,N-diethyl-N'-[(4-nitro­phen­yl)(oxo)meth­yl]carbamimido­thio­ato}cobalt(III) conducted at 180 K are presented. The complex consists of three N,N-diethyl-N'-[(4-nitro­benzene)(oxo)meth­yl]carbamimido­thio­ato ligands, threefold sym­metric­ally bonded about the CoIII ion, in approximately octa­hedral coordination, which generates a triple of individually near planar metallacyclic (Co—S—C—N—C—O) rings. The overall geometry of the complex is determined by the mutual orientation of each metallacycle about the crystallographically imposed threefold axis [dihedral angles = 81.70 (2)°] and by the dihedral angles between the various planar groups within each asymmetric unit [metallacycle to benzene ring = 13.83 (7)°; benzene ring to nitro group = 17.494 (8)°]. The complexes stack in anti-parallel columns about the overline{3} axis of the space group (Poverline{3}), generating solvent-accessible channels along [001]. These channels contain ill-defined, multiply disordered, partial-occupancy solvent. Atom–atom contacts in the crystal packing predominantly (∼96%) involve hydrogen, the most abundant types being H⋯H (36.6%), H⋯O (31.0%), H⋯C (19.2%), H⋯N (4.8%), and H⋯S (4.4%).

The crystal structures of two inter­mediates, 4-amino-3,5-di­fluoro­benzo­nitrile, C7H4F2N2 (I), and ethyl 4-amino-3,5-di­fluoro­benzoate, C9H9F2NO2 (II), along with a visible-light-responsive azo­benzene derivative, diethyl 4,4'-(diazene-1,2-di­yl)bis­(3,5-di­fluoro­benzoate), C18H14F4N2O4 (III), obtained by four-step synthetic procedure, were studied using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The mol­ecules of I and II demonstrate the quinoid character of phenyl rings accompanied by the distortion of bond angles related to the presence of fluorine substituents in the 3 and 5 (ortho) positions. In the crystals of I and II, the mol­ecules are connected by N—H⋯N, N—H⋯F and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, C—H⋯F short contacts, and π-stacking inter­actions. In crystal of III, only stacking inter­actions between the mol­ecules are found.

Synthesis, crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of a new copper(II) complex based on diethyl 2,2'-(4H-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-di­yl)di­acetate

The title compound, bis­[μ-2,2'-(4H-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-di­yl)di­acetato]­bis­[di­aqua­copper(II)] dihydrate, [Cu2(C6H5N3O4)2(H2O)4]·2H2O, is a dinuclear octa­hedral CuII triazole-based complex. The central copper atoms are hexa-coordinated by two nitro­gen atoms in the equatorial positions, two equatorial oxygen atoms of two carboxyl­ate substituents in position 3 and 5 of the 1,2,4-triazole ring, and two axial oxygen atoms of two water mol­ecules. Two additional solvent water mol­ecules are linked to the title mol­ecule by O—H⋯N and O⋯H—O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is built up from the parallel packing of discrete supra­molecular chains running along the a-axis direction. Hirshfeld surface analysis suggests that the most important contributions to the surface contacts are from H⋯O/O⋯H (53.5%), H⋯H (28.1%), O⋯O (6.3%) and H⋯C/C⋯H (6.2%) inter­actions. The crystal studied was twinned by a twofold rotation around [100].
