ida Freak Out Friday – February 28, 2020 By www.peterdavid.net Published On :: Fri, 28 Feb 2020 16:54:15 +0000 We’ve been through pandemic viruses before. Most recently it was in 2014 when Fox News relentlessly beat the drums declaring that we were all going to die of the much more lethal Ebola virus. And Fox & Friends regular guest Donald Trump was one of the loudest leaders of the opposition. He declared without evidence that Barack ObamaContinue Reading "Freak Out Friday – February 28, 2020" → Full Article 1

That is the latest claim from Trump and his team of sycophants, toadies and bootlickers. Presidential eras are oftentimes defined by their nicknames. Probably the most memorable one, off the top of my head, is that of John F. Kennedy. ida Freak Out Friday – April 10, 2020 By www.peterdavid.net Published On :: Fri, 10 Apr 2020 20:05:55 +0000 The GOP has traditionally stood for Grand Old Party. I think in the age of Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell, the initials should be changed. The alteration should be made to reflect what the party has become. I must admit, that’s a little outside of my realm of expertise. But based upon this past week…indeed, this past year…I can certainly see the reasons for the contention. He’s certainly opposed to life. That’s a given. His constant ignoring of the early warnings which, hadContinue Reading "Freak Out Friday – April 23, 2020" → Full Article 1

ida This Europe Day we send a message of solidarity and friendship to British people By www.theguardian.com Published On :: 2020-05-09T07:30:50Z The UK may no longer be an EU member but, as the current health crisis shows, cooperation continues to be essentialCoronavirus shows British–EU solidarity vital, say ambassadorsOn Saturday, for the first time in almost 50 years, we observe Europe Day without the United Kingdom as a member state of the European Union. As ambassadors and high commissioners representing the EU and its 27 countries in the UK, we are nonetheless very keen to mark the date with all the citizens of this great country and with the millions of EU nationals who live and work in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We celebrate Europe on 9 May because on this same day in 1950, exactly 70 years ago, in the aftermath of the devastating second world war, Robert Schuman, the Luxembourg-born foreign minister of France, laid the foundations of our collective endeavour. He said then: “Europe will not be made all at once, or according to a single plan. It will be built through concrete achievements which first create a de facto solidarity.” Continue reading... ida COVID-19 | This period is really frustrating: Kidambi Srikanth By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 15 Apr 2020 07:54:52 GMT Former World no.1 badminton player Kidambi Srikanth has said that he was not happy with the unexpected break from the sport activities due to the lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Srikanth last played at the All England Championships in March, where he lost to China's Chen Long in the first round. "I am not really happy with this forced break. We, as players, usually would like a break from the regular stretch of tournaments, training and then playing tournaments again," Srikanth said in his column on Hindustan Times. "Having said that, this is not exactly the kind of break we want to take. You do not want to be in a position where you cannot even train. Hence, this period is really very frustrating as neither can you go out, train or pretty much do anything." Srikanth said that most of his time went in sleeping and he spends about 15 minutes every day working out. "With so much time available and nothing much to do, I have been sleeping mostly; that is where most of my time goes. I sleep for 12 to 14 hours every day, after which there is little time left anyway," he said. Srikanth had been in the middle of a race against time to seal qualification to the Tokyo Olympics when the coronavirus pandemic exploded on a global scale. It ultimately led to an unprecedented postponement of the Olympics itself to 2021. Catch up on all the latest sports news and updates here.
