The reactivity of a [VV] alkylidyne with unsaturated substrates such as NCR (R = Ad or Ph) and PCAd leads to the formation of rare transition metal complexes featuring an α-aza-vanadacyclobutadiene and a β-phospha-vanadacyclobutadiene moieties.
