product Position-independent product increase rate in a shaker mill revealed by position-resolved in situ synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction By journals.iucr.org Published On :: 2024-11-08 We investigated the position and time dependence of a mechanochemical reaction induced by ball milling using in situ synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction with changing X-ray irradiation position. The mechanochemical reduction of AgCl with Cu was monitored in situ with the X-rays incident at two different vertical positions on the jar. Our previously developed multi-distance Rietveld method was applied to analyze the in situ diffraction data with a 1 min resolution. Both the vertical and the horizontal sample positions were determined using the sample-to-detector distances from the in situ data. Position dependence was found in the powder spreading and induction time. We reveal that the increase rate of the product is independent of the sample position when measured with a 1 min time resolution, confirming the validity of in situ monitoring of part of the space in a milling jar for a gradual mechanochemical reaction. product α-d-2'-Deoxyadenosine, an irradiation product of canonical DNA and a component of anomeric nucleic acids: crystal structure, packing and Hirshfeld surface analysis By journals.iucr.org Published On :: 2024-01-22 α-d-2'-Deoxyribonucleosides are products of the γ-irradiation of DNA under oxygen-free conditions and are constituents of anomeric DNA. They are not found as natural building blocks of canonical DNA. Reports on their conformational properties are limited. Herein, the single-crystal X-ray structure of α-d-2'-deoxyadenosine (α-dA), C10H13N5O3, and its conformational parameters were determined. In the crystalline state, α-dA forms two conformers in the asymmetric unit which are connected by hydrogen bonds. The sugar moiety of each conformer is arranged in a `clamp'-like fashion with respect to the other conformer, forming hydrogen bonds to its nucleobase and sugar residue. For both conformers, a syn conformation of the nucleobase with respect to the sugar moiety was found. This is contrary to the anti conformation usually preferred by α-nucleosides. The sugar conformation of both conformers is C2'-endo, and the 5'-hydroxyl groups are in a +sc orientation, probably due to the hydrogen bonds formed by the conformers. The formation of the supramolecular assembly of α-dA is controlled by hydrogen bonding and stacking interactions, which was verified by a Hirshfeld and curvedness surface analysis. Chains of hydrogen-bonded nucleobases extend parallel to the b direction and are linked to equivalent chains by hydrogen bonds involving the sugar moieties to form a sheet. A comparison of the solid-state structures of the anomeric 2'-deoxyadenosines revealed significant differences of their conformational parameters. Full Article text
product Structure and absolute configuration of natural fungal product beauveriolide I, isolated from Cordyceps javanica, determined by 3D electron diffraction By journals.iucr.org Published On :: 2024-02-27 Beauveriolides, including the main beauveriolide I {systematic name: (3R,6S,9S,13S)-9-benzyl-13-[(2S)-hexan-2-yl]-6-methyl-3-(2-methylpropyl)-1-oxa-4,7,10-triazacyclotridecane-2,5,8,11-tetrone, C27H41N3O5}, are a series of cyclodepsipeptides that have shown promising results in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and in the prevention of foam cell formation in atherosclerosis. Their crystal structure studies have been difficult due to their tiny crystal size and fibre-like morphology, until now. Recent developments in 3D electron diffraction methodology have made it possible to accurately study the crystal structures of submicron crystals by overcoming the problems of beam sensitivity and dynamical scattering. In this study, the absolute structure of beauveriolide I was determined by 3D electron diffraction. The cyclodepsipeptide crystallizes in the space group I2 with lattice parameters a = 40.2744 (4), b = 5.0976 (5), c = 27.698 (4) Å and β = 105.729 (6)°. After dynamical refinement, its absolute structure was determined by comparing the R factors and calculating the z-scores of the two possible enantiomorphs of beauveriolide I. Full Article text
product Crystal structures of two unexpected products of vicinal diamines left to crystallize in acetone By journals.iucr.org Published On :: 2024-08-23 Herein we report the crystal structures of two benzodiazepines obtained by reacting N,N'-(4,5-diamino-1,2-phenylene)bis(4-methylbenzenesulfonamide) (1) or 4,5-(4-methylbenzenesulfonamido)benzene-1,2-diaminium dichloride (1·2HCl) with acetone, giving 2,2,4-trimethyl-8,9-bis(4-methylbenzenesulfonamido)-2,3-dihydro-5H-1,5-benzodiazepine, C26H30N4O4S2 (2), and 2,2,4-trimethyl-8,9-bis(4-methylbenzenesulfonamido)-2,3-dihydro-5H-1,5-benzodiazepin-1-ium chloride 0.3-hydrate, C26H31N4O4S2+·Cl−·0.3H2O (3). Compounds 2 and 3 were first obtained in attempts to recrystallize 1 and 1·2HCl using acetone as solvent. This solvent reacted with the vicinal diamines present in the molecular structures, forming a 5H-1,5-benzodiazepine ring. In the crystal structure of 2, the seven-membered ring of benzodiazepine adopts a boat-like conformation, while upon protonation, observed in the crystal structure of 3, it adopts an envelope-like conformation. In both crystalline compounds, the tosylamide N atoms are not in resonance with the arene ring, mainly due to hydrogen bonds and steric hindrance caused by the large vicinal groups in the aromatic ring. At a supramolecular level, the crystal structure is maintained by a combination of hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions. In 2, amine-to-tosyl N—H⋯O and amide-to-imine N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds can be observed. In contrast, in 3, the chloride counter-ion and water molecule result in most of the hydrogen bonds being of the amide-to-chloride and ammonium-to-chloride N—H⋯Cl types, while the amine interacts with the tosyl group, as seen in 2. In conclusion, we report the synthesis of 1, 1·2HCl and 2, as well as their chemical characterization. For 2, two synthetic methods are described, i.e. solvent-mediated crystallization and synthesis via a more efficient and cleaner route as a polycrystalline material. Salt 3 was only obtained as presented, with only a few crystals being formed. Full Article text
product Crystal structures of four gold(I) complexes [AuL2]+[AuX2]− and a by-product (L·LH+)[AuBr2]− (L = substituted pyridine, X = Cl or Br) By journals.iucr.org Published On :: 2024-06-18 Bis(2-methylpyridine)gold(I) dibromidoaurate(I), [Au(C6H7N)2][AuBr2], (1), crystallizes in space group C2/c with Z = 4. Both gold atoms lie on twofold axes and are connected by an aurophilic contact. A second aurophilic contact leads to infinite chains of alternating cations and anions parallel to the b axis, and the residues are further connected by a short H⋯Au contact and a borderline Br⋯Br contact. Bis(3-methylpyridine)gold(I) dibromidoaurate(I), [Au(C6H7N)2][AuBr2], (2), crystallizes in space group C2/m with Z = 2. Both gold atoms lie on special positions with symmetry 2/m and are connected by an aurophilic contact; all other atoms except for one methyl hydrogen lie in mirror planes. The extended structure is closely analogous to that of 1, although the structures are formally not isotypic. Bis(3,5-dimethylpyridine)gold(I) dichloridoaurate(I), [Au(C7H9N)2][AuCl2], (3) crystallizes in space group Poverline{1} with Z = 2. The cation lies on a general position, and there are two independent anions in which the gold atoms lie on inversion centres. The cation and one anion associate via three short H⋯Cl contacts to form a ribbon structure parallel to the b axis; aurophilic contacts link adjacent ribbons. Bis(3,5-dimethylpyridine)gold(I) dibromidoaurate(I), [Au(C7H9N)2][AuBr2], (4) is isotypic to 3. Attempts to make similar compounds involving 2-bromopyridine led instead to 2-bromopyridinium dibromidoaurate(I)–2-bromopyridine (1/1), (C5H5BrN)[AuBr2]·C5H4BrN, (5), which crystallizes in space group Poverline{1} with Z = 2; all atoms lie on general positions. The 2-bromopyridinium cation is linked to the 2-bromopyridine molecule by an N—H⋯N hydrogen bond. Two formula units aggregate to form inversion-symmetric dimers involving Br⋯Br, Au⋯Br and H⋯Br contacts. Full Article text
product Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of 2-bromoethylammonium bromide – a possible side product upon synthesis of hybrid perovskites By journals.iucr.org Published On :: 2024-06-18 This study presents the synthesis, characterization and Hirshfeld surface analysis of a small organic ammonium salt, C2H7BrN+·Br−. Small cations like the one in the title compound are considered promising components of hybrid perovskites, crucial for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications. While the incorporation of this organic cation into various hybrid perovskite structures has been explored, its halide salt counterpart remains largely uninvestigated. The obtained structural results are valuable for the synthesis and phase analysis of hybrid perovskites. The title compound crystallizes in the solvent-free form in the centrosymmetric monoclinic space group P21/c, featuring one organic cation and one bromide anion in its asymmetric unit, with a torsion angle of −64.8 (2)° between the ammonium group and the bromine substituent, positioned in a gauche conformation. The crystal packing is predominantly governed by Br⋯H interactions, which constitute 62.6% of the overall close atom contacts. Full Article text

product Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of the salt 2-iodoethylammonium iodide – a possible side product upon synthesis of hybrid perovskites By journals.iucr.org Published On :: 2024-10-31 The title organic–inorganic hybrid salt, C2H7IN+·I−, is isotypic with its bromine analog, C2H7BrN+·Br− [Semenikhin et al. (2024). Acta Cryst. E80, 738–741]. Its asymmetric unit consists of one 2-iodoethylammonium cation and one iodide anion. The NH3+ group of the organic cation forms weak hydrogen bonds with four neighboring iodide anions, leading to the formation of supramolecular layers propagating parallel to the bc plane. Hirshfeld surface analysis reveals that the most important contribution to the crystal packing is from N—H⋯I interactions (63.8%). The crystal under investigation was twinned by a 180° rotation around [001]. Full Article text
product Roth MKM Gives Buy Rating to Bitcoin Co. Following October Production Update By www.streetwisereports.com Published On :: Wed, 06 Nov 2024 00:00:00 PST Source: Darren Aftahi 11/06/2024 Terawulf Inc. (WULF:NASDAQ) "gained better insight into its supply chain for delivering ~72.5MW of HPC capacity by 2Q25, with the potential to generate ~US$90M in annualized revenue with US$60M+ in profit," wrote a Roth MKM analyst in an updated report.Roth MKM analyst Darren Aftahi, in a research report published on November 5, 2024, maintained a Buy rating on Terawulf Inc. (WULF:NASDAQ) with a price target of US$7.50. The report follows TeraWulf's October production update and insights into its HPC capacity expansion plans. Its 2.5MW concept building is now complete, and its 20MW facility is on schedule for 1Q25." Regarding October's production metrics, the analyst noted, "WULF mined 150 BTC in October, up 7% m/m on a comparable basis to only Lake Mariner in September (140 BTC). The ending hash rate is now 8.1 EH/s (vs. 10) from the removal of Nautilus." He added that "machine efficiency is now 22 J/TH vs. the prior combined rate of ~24.6 J/TH." The analyst observed operational improvements, commenting, "Avg. operating hash rate was ~6.8 or ~84%, slightly ahead of prior months (although reported in aggregate). Part of this is being driven by the accelerated replacement of older miners at Lake Mariner." The report noted that upon reinstallation of damaged miners at Lake Mariner, the hash rate would increase to approximately 8.7 EH/s, though power cost per BTC increased about 5% month over month. Roth MKM's valuation methodology is based on an EBITDA multiple approach. Aftahi explained, "We apply a ~24x multiple to our projected FY25 adj. EBITDA of ~US$120M to arrive at our price target of US$7.50." The analyst outlined several risk factors, including Bitcoin price volatility, regulatory changes, unproven new business segments, capital requirements, weather impacts, competition, power contracts, and reliance on third-party suppliers. In conclusion, Roth MKM's maintenance of their Buy rating and US$7.50 price target reflects confidence in TeraWulf's operational execution and growth potential in both Bitcoin mining and HPC capacity. The share price at the time of the report of US$5.98 represents a potential return of approximately 25.4% to the analyst's target price.
