Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was re-elected from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in the general elections held in April 2024. But he relinquished the seat to retain the Congress’ traditional stronghold Rae Bareli. The constituency was in the news two months later when two massive landslides snuffed out hundreds of lives in the upper reaches of the hill district.
