If you buy the "One4All" gift card you can redeem it for Xbox or Playstation credit, or a bunch of other brands. I had the mperks points in my account within an hour, and just redeemed my $50 gc for PSN credit with no issues. If you shop at Meijer anyway, this is 40% off Sony or MS credit if you do the minimum $50 gift card purchase. If you put $70 on it that would be a new full price game for $50. I believe this can only be used once per Mperks account. Full Article

credit A Credit-fuelled Economic Recovery Stores Up Trouble for Turkey By www.chathamhouse.org Published On :: Mon, 17 Feb 2020 13:47:40 +0000 A Credit-fuelled Economic Recovery Stores Up Trouble for Turkey Expert comment sysadmin 17 February 2020 Turkey is repeating the mistakes that led to the 2018 lira crisis and another freefall for the currency may not be far off. — Headquarters of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. Photo: Getty Images. Since the 2018 economic crisis, when the value of the lira plummeted and borrowing costs soared, Turkey’s economy has achieved a miraculous ‘V-shaped’ economic recovery from a recession lasting three quarters to a return back to quarterly growth above 1 per cent in the first three months of 2019. But this quick turnaround has been built on vast amounts of cheap credit used to re-stimulate a consumption and construction boom. This so-called ‘triple C’ economy generated a rapid growth spurt akin to a modestly able professional sprinter injected with steroids. This has made the currency vulnerable. The lira has steadily depreciated by 11 per cent against the US dollar since the beginning of 2019 and crossed the rate of 6 lira versus the US dollar on 7 February. And there are further warning signs on the horizon. Credit bonanza Statistics reveal that Turkish domestic credit grew by around 13 per cent on average throughout 2019. The credit bonanza is still ongoing. Mortgage-backed home sales jumped by a record high of 600 per cent last December alone and the 2019 budget deficit catapulted by 70 per cent due to higher government spending. Turkey’s central bank fuelled this credit expansion by cutting interest rates aggressively to below inflation and, since the start of this year, purchasing lira-denominated bonds equivalent to around one-third of total acquisitions last year to push yields lower. Equally, it has linked bank lending to reserve requirements – the money that banks have to keep at the central bank – to boost borrowings via state and private banks. Banks with a ‘real’ loan growth (including inflation) of between 5 and 15 per cent enjoy a 2 per cent reserve ratio on most lira deposits, which authorities adjusted from an earlier band of 10-20 per cent that did not consider double-digit inflation. Cumulatively, bond purchases (effectively quantitative easing) and reserve management policies have also contributed to eased credit conditions. Commercial banks have also reduced deposit rates on lira accounts to less than inflation to encourage consumption over saving. Together with low lending rates, the boost to the economy has flowed via mortgages, credit card loans, vehicle leasing transactions and general business borrowings. Accordingly, stimulus is at the forefront of the government’s economic approach, as it was in 2017 and 2018. It does not seem to be implementing structural change to re-orient growth away from consumption towards productivity. In addition, governance is, again, a central issue. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s near total monopolization of policymaking means he guides all domestic and external policies. He forced out the previous central bank governor, Murat Cetinkaya, in July 2019 because he did not share the president’s desire for an accelerated pace of interest rate reductions. New challenges Despite the similarities, the expected future financial turbulence will be materially different from its 2018 predecessor in four crucial respects. Firstly, foreign investors will only be marginally involved. Turkey has shut out foreign investors since 2018 from lira-denominated assets by restricting lira swap arrangements. Unsurprisingly, the non-resident holdings of lira bonds has plummeted from 20 per cent in 2018 to less than 10 per cent today. Secondly, the Turkish government has recently introduced indirect domestic capital controls by constraining most commercial transactions to the lira rather than to the US dollar or euro to reduce foreign currency demand in light of short-term external debt obligations of $191 billion. Thirdly, the Turkish state banks are intervening quite regularly to soften Lira volatility, thereby transitioning from a ‘free float’ to a ‘managed float’. So far, they have spent over $37 billion over the last two years in a futile effort to buttress the lira. This level of involvement in currency markets cannot be maintained. Fourthly, the Turkish state is being far more interventionist in the Turkish stock exchange and bond markets to keep asset prices elevated. Government-controlled local funds have participated in the Borsa Istanbul and state banks in sovereign debt to sustain rallies or reverse a bear market. All these measures have one running idea: exclude foreign investors and no crisis will recur. Yet, when the credit boom heads to a downturn sooner or later, Turks will probably escalate lira conversions to US dollars; 51 per cent of all Turkish bank deposits are already dollar-denominated and the figure is still rising. If Turkey’s limited foreign reserves cannot satisfy the domestic dollar demand, the government may have to impose comprehensive capital controls and allow for a double digit depreciation in the value of the lira to from its current level, with significant repercussions on Turkey’s political stability and economic climate. To avoid this scenario, it needs to restore fiscal and monetary prudence, deal the with the foreign debt overhang in the private sector and focus on productivity-improving economic and institutional reforms to gain the confidence of global financial markets and Turks alike. credit Flow Control Credit Updates in PCIe 6.1 ECN By community.cadence.com Published On :: Fri, 13 Sep 2024 21:25:20 GMT As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, the importance of robust and efficient interconnect standards cannot be overstated. Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) has been a cornerstone in high-speed data transfer, enabling seamless communication between various hardware components. With the advent of PCIe 6.1 ECN, a significant advancement in speed and efficiency, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of its operations is paramount. One critical aspect of this is the verification of shared credit updates. For detailed understanding on Shared Credit, please refer Understanding PCIe 6.0 Shared Flow Control. In this blog, we will discuss why this verification is essential and what it entails. Introduction PCIe 6.1 ECN brings numerous advancements over earlier versions, such as increased bandwidth and faster data transfer speeds. A crucial mechanism for efficient data transmission in PCIe 6.0 is the credit-based flow control system. In this system, devices monitor credits, representing the buffer capacity available for incoming data. When a device transmits data, it uses credits, which are replenished or adjusted once the data is received and processed. This system ensures that the sender does not overload the receiver. Given the critical role of shared credit updates in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of data transfers, verification of these updates is crucial. Proper management of credit updates is essential to ensure data integrity, as any discrepancies can lead to data loss, corruption, or system crashes. Verification also guarantees efficient resource allocation, preventing scenarios where some components are starved of credit while others have an excess, thus avoiding inefficiencies. Credit inefficiencies pose issues in low power negotiations by preventing devices from entering low power states. Additionally, verification involves checking for proper error handling mechanisms, ensuring that the system can recover gracefully from errors in credit updates and maintain overall stability. PCIe 6.1 ECN Flow Control Optimizations Over PCIe 6.0 PCIe 6.1 ECN builds on the FLIT-based architecture introduced in PCIe 6.0, further optimizing flow control mechanisms to handle increased data rates and improved efficiency. PCIe 6.1 ECN introduced refinements in credit management, making the allocation and advertisement of credits more precise, which helps in reducing bottlenecks and improving data flow efficiency. Enhancements in flow control protocols ensure better management of buffer spaces and more efficient credit allocation. These enhancements are designed to handle the increased data rates and throughput demands of next-generation applications, ensuring robust and efficient data flow across PCIe devices. Below are some major updates: There have been improvements in error detection and correction mechanisms in PCIe 6.1 ECN to enhance flow control reliability by ensuring that corrupted data packets are detected and handled appropriately without disrupting the flow of valid packets. The merged credit system, which was a key feature introduced int PCIe 6.0 to simplify and optimize credit management, was further enhanced in PCIe 6.1 ECN to improve performance and efficiency. PCIe 6.1 ECN introduced better algorithms for allocating and reclaiming merged credits to handle high data rates, introduced more robust error detection and correction mechanism reducing the degradation or system instability. PCIe 6.1 ECN provided clear guidelines on how to implement the merged credit system correctly, helping developers to implement more reliable systems. For more details, please refer to Specifications section 2.6.1 Flow Control (FC) Rules. Summary In summary, PCIe 6.0 is a complex protocol with many verification challenges. You must understand many new Spec changes and think about the robust verification plan for the new features and backward compatible tests impacted by new features. Cadence’s PCIe 6.0 Verification IP is fully compliant with the latest PCIe Express 6.0 specifications and provides an effective and efficient way to verify the components interfacing with the PCIe 6.0 interface. Cadence VIP for PCIe 6.0 provides exhaustive verification of PCIe-based IP and SoCs, and we are working with early adopter customers to speed up every verification stage. This exact situation happened in one office until one clever employee decided to turn the tables. After watching his entitled coworker repeatedly swipe his projects and pass them off as her own, he put together a presentation just for her. Packed with confusing data points and meaningless buzzwords, the presentation was just convincing enough to look important…until you actually tried to explain it. And sure enough, the coworker snagged it and confidently presented it in front of their boss. The employee watched with quiet satisfaction as she stumbled through, each buzzword making less sense than the last. When the boss turned to him for clarification, he threw her under the bus, telling the boss she had no idea what she was talking about. Sweet, sweet office justice.
