Kolkata tram trundles back to familiar atmosphere of neglect and protests — a sign it is still alive

Friday’s CTUA protest was initially planned to demand restoration of the third surviving route, Ballygunge-Tollygunge, which was shut down temporarily about four months ago due to pipeline work; but by Friday they had more things to protest against as media reports showed bituminisation of not-in-use tram tracks in Alipore.

Music Review: Junglee

<strong>EXPECTATIONS</strong> With the soundtrack of <em>Junglee</em> arriving on the day of the film's release, there has hardly been any awareness around the music. Moreover, the film is a jungle adventure and hence at best one expects composer Sameer Uddin to have come up with situational numbers. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-967442" src="https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Junglee-2.jpg" alt="" width="720" height="450" /> <strong>MUSIC</strong> There are only three songs in the album, and the first one is written by Anvita Dutt. Titled <strong><em>'Fakeera Ghar Aaja'</em></strong>, this one is about a man's homecoming and makes for a situational setting. With a decent sound to it, it has some functional rendition by Jubin Nautiyal and just about passes muster. Next to arrive is Kumar Suryavanshi written <strong><em>'Garje Gajraj Hamare'</em></strong> and this one is an ode to elephants. It tries to be all cute and nice with a child accompanying Vidyut as they go around the village. However, the end result is hardly the kind that would make you feel like playing this Navraj Hans, Hamsika Iyer, Abhishek Nailwal and Gulshan Kumar sung number on loop. Kumar Suryavanshi is also the lyricist for last number in the album, <strong><em>'Dosti'</em></strong>. This one actually turns out to be better of the lot with Mohan Kannan's vocals adding to the song's appeal. This one has a kind of setting that Pritam puts together for many a Mohit Chauhan numbers and actually makes for a pleasant hear. <strong>OVERALL</strong> The music of Junglee is by and large forgettable. <strong>OUR PICK(S)</strong> <em>‘Dosti’</em>

Tarantula toxin untangles pain pathways

A toxin isolated from the Togo starburst tarantula provides new insights into pain mechanisms and could lead to new treatments for irritable bowel syndrome

With their large, hairy bodies and long legs, tarantulas are an arachnophobe’s worst nightmare. For pain researchers, however, these outsized spiders are a dream come true: Their venom contains a cocktail of toxins, each of which activates pain-sensing nerve fibres in different ways, and researchers in the United States have now identified one such toxin that will help them to better understand pain, and could also lead to treatments for the chronic pain associated with irritable bowel syndrome.

Physical pain signals are transmitted from the body to the brain by specialised sensory neurons called nociceptors. These pain-sensing neurons have cell bodies located just outside the spinal cord, and possess a single conductive fibre that splits in two, with one branch extending out towards the skin surface, and the shorter one entering the back of the cord.

[ Singles & Dating ] Open Question : Is bring a girl home ok?

So once I went on a night out and I kissed a drunk girl and she was hinting she wanted to come home with me but I didn't let it happen. If this happens again will it be weird if I bring a girl home at like 3 in the morning and I live with my parents. Do I have to hide her? What if we have sex? In the morning my mum just come in and opens the door to get my washing. What if she does this and there is a girl in the bed? Will I get in trouble? I don't know anything about this stuff. I'm 21 do people this age even do this or is it only people in there 30s? It will be nice to spend the night with a girl. Is it a bad idea. I have no brothers or friends so I don't know what people do. I want to know for the next time?
