A gas separation process for treating exhaust gases from combustion processes. The invention involves routing a first portion of the exhaust stream to a carbon dioxide capture step, while simultaneously flowing a second portion of the exhaust gas stream across the feed side of a membrane, flowing a sweep gas stream, usually air, across the permeate side, then passing the permeate/sweep gas back to the combustor.

A catalytic converter for an internal combustion engine includes a tubular member which defines a volume within which a catalytic converter substrate is located, the volume communicates with an inlet portion for receiving exhaust gas emissions and with a first outlet portion for discharging emissions after catalytic conversion. The catalytic converter may also include a pipe member within the tubular member, which connects the inlet portion with the volume and guides emissions from the inlet portion in a first direction. The pipe member opens into a deflector member which deflects emissions into the volume in a second direction, and the catalytic converter includes a second outlet portion connected to the deflector member and a valve to control gas flow through the second outlet portion to guide emissions away from the pipe member and out of the catalytic converter prior to reaching the catalytic converter substrate when the valve is open.

A system includes a gas turbine system having a turbine combustor, a turbine driven by combustion products from the turbine combustor, and an exhaust gas compressor driven by the turbine. The exhaust gas compressor is configured to compress and supply an exhaust gas to the turbine combustor. The gas turbine system also has an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The one or more oxidant compressors are separate from the exhaust gas compressor, and the one or more oxidant compressors are configured to supply all compressed oxidant utilized by the turbine combustor in generating the combustion products.

A method for operating a stationary gas turbine at partial load, having at least one compressor, at least one expansion turbine and a combustion chamber provided with at least one burner, which gas turbine further includes a hydraulic gap adjuster, wherein the method has the following steps: operating the gas turbine at partial load; operating the a hydraulic gap adjuster; during the operation of the hydraulic gap adjuster, increasing the fuel supply to the burner while increasing the temperature of the combustion gases which are guided to the expansion turbine.

A gas turbine engine duct turns radially inwardly in the downstream direction. The duct includes a plurality of radially extending stator vanes. A generally circumferentially extending splitter vane is provided between two circumferentially neighbouring stator vanes. The splitter vane improves the flow near to the radially inner wall of the duct. This can allow greater design freedom in the duct geometry.

A gas turbine engine includes a combustion section arranged between a compressor section and a turbine section that extend in an axial direction. A fan section is arranged upstream from the compressor section. An airfoil is arranged in one of the fan section, the compressor section and the turbine section. A 90° view projects into a tangential plane in a tangential direction normal to the axial direction and views between the 0° and 90° views. The airfoil has a maximum leading edge projection in a 20° to 40° view. The radial direction is normal to the axial and tangential directions.

A system for injecting a liquid fuel into a combustion gas flow field includes an annular liner that defines a combustion gas flow path. The annular liner includes an inner wall, an outer wall and a fuel injector opening that extends through the inner wall and the outer wall. The system further includes a gas fuel injector that is coaxially aligned with the fuel injector opening. The gas fuel injector includes an upstream end and a downstream end. The downstream end terminates substantially adjacent to the inner wall. A dilution air passage is at least partially defined by the gas fuel injector. A liquid fuel injector extends partially through the dilution air passage. The liquid fuel injector includes an injection end that terminates upstream from the inner wall.

A method of forming a vacuum insulated refrigerator cabinet structure includes providing a multi-layer sheet of material comprising at least one layer of barrier material that is disposed between first and second outer structural layers. The barrier material and the first and second outer layers comprise thermoplastic polymers. The process involves cooling process streams in one or more heat exchangers and separating condensed compounds in multiple separators to form a methane-rich product gas stream. Select solvent streams from a fractionation train and/or separate solvent streams are employed to lower the freeze point of one or more streams that contain high freeze point hydrocarbons. A corresponding system also is disclosed.

Illinois raised its per-gallon gasoline tax at the beginning of July and it’s already having an effect on state prices. AAA reports the current state average is around $3.14 per gallon, and may be driving some border residents to get their fuel in other states. GasBuddy petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan says the change came quickly. “Average prices shot up noticeably within the first 24 hours but it took almost 48-72 hours for stations to fully pass along the state’s 19 cent per gallon increase in gasoline tax,” he said. DeHaan says prices also remain high because of increased oil costs. This, he says, is due to tensions between Iran and the West in the Persian Gulf.

Aan het succes van Siegfried & Roy kwam abrupt een einde toen Horn in 2003 tijdens een optreden werd aangevallen door een van zijn dieren. Hij raakte zwaargewond en worstelde sindsdien met zijn gezondheid. Vorige week werd een coronabesmetting bij hem vastgesteld.

"De wereld is een van de grote goochelaars kwijtgeraakt en ik mijn beste vriend", reageert Siegfried Fischbacher op het overlijden van Horn. "Vanaf het moment dat we elkaar troffen, wist ik dat Roy en ik de wereld zouden veranderen. Er is geen Siegfried zonder Roy en geen Roy zonder Siegfried."

In 1999 kregen Siegfried & Roy een ster op de Hollywood Walk of Fame:

Als kind was Horn al gefascineerd door exotische dieren en had een jachtluipaard als huisdier. Deze Chico nam hij ook mee toen hij ging werken op een cruiseschip, eind jaren 50. Het was daar dat hij Fischbacher ontmoette, die naast zijn werk op het schip ook kleine goocheltrucs deed om de gasten te vermaken. Roy ging hem daarbij helpen en zo ontstond 's wereld bekendste illusionistenduo.

Na optredens overal ter wereld kwamen Horn en Fischbacher in 1967 met hun goochelshow in Las Vegas terecht. De Siegfried & Roy Show waarmee ze uiteindelijk in het hotelcasino The Mirage stonden, was bij aanvang in 1990 met een productiebudget van 30 miljoen dollar verreweg de grootste en duurste show in de gokstad.

Illusionist Hans Klok reageert geschrokken op het overlijden van de beroemde dompteur en illusionist. Hij had pas eerder deze week gehoord dat Roy met corona in het ziekenhuis lag, maar had erop gerekend dat hij er weer bovenop zou komen. "Hij had immers ook een aanval van een tijger overleefd", zei Klok in het NOS Radio 1 Journaal.

Voor de Nederlandse illusionist golden Siegfried & Roy als "hele grote voorbeelden". Hij kende Siegfried en Roy al tientallen jaren heel goed en voelde zich ook altijd erg gesteund door het Duitse duo. "Ze hebben ongelooflijk veel betekend voor de magic-wereld", aldus Klok.

Na de onaangekondigde show met de cheetah op het cruiseschip werden Siegfried & Roy ontslagen. "De kapitein van het schip was er niet zo erg blij mee", aldus Klok. Ze werden daarna gevraagd voor het Rode Kruis gala in Monte Carlo.

Prins Rainier en prinses Gracia (de voormalige filmster Grace Kelly) zaten vooraan. Grace Kelly droeg een bontjas "en dat ruikt een dier natuurlijk. Dus Siegfried & Roy laten die cheetah verschijnen en die maakt een sprong en vliegt bovenop Grace Kelly. Dat was wereldnieuws."

In de jaren 60 vertrokken Siegfried & Roy naar Las Vegas "en kregen hier te horen 'magic is not gonna work in this city' en de rest is history", zegt Klok. Twintig jaar lang waren ze de best betaalde artiesten in Las Vegas. "Zij, Elvis Presley en Frank Sinatra zijn de mensen die Las Vegas in de afgelopen decennia hebben opgebouwd tot wat het nu is."
