387- The Worst Video Game Ever

Deep within the National Museum of American History’s vaults is a battered Atari case containing what’s known as “the worst video game of all time.” The game is E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and it was so bad that not even the might of Steven Spielberg could save it. It was so loathsome that all remaining copies were buried deep in the desert. And it was so horrible that it’s blamed for the collapse of the American home video game industry in the early 1980s.

Video game characters having evolving traits

A server-based video game system maintains a number of video game characters having computer-simulated genetic (“digenetic”) structures that prescribe a number of physical and cognitive performance traits and characteristics for the video game characters. The system allows end users to establish remote online access to the game characters (via, e.g., the Internet). The results of competitions and training activities are based upon the game characters' digenetics, the conditions of the game environment, and the game characters' current levels of physical and cognitive development. The game characters' performance capabilities and cognition are updated continuously in response to the results of competitions and training activities. Competition and training results can be processed by the game servers and transmitted to the end user presentation devices for graphics rendering. In this manner, the video game system need not be burdened by network latency and other delays. The game system also supports game character breeding; game character evolution based upon the digenetics; and game character buying, trading, selling, and collecting.

Bringing retro video games to the Mission — on the roof of a car

It’s Friday night on the corner of 16th and Valencia in San Francisco’s Mission District. Shops are closing up and folks that live out here are settling into vacant doorways. The traffic on the street sounds frustrated; revving, waiting, and beeping as the last of the commuters surface from the BART station and breeze by. Most of them don’t even notice a man in a poofy red and white mushroom hat, sorting through a tangled web of colored wires and extension cords.

Get 5 figures for your music placed with 2 huge video game companies

GET PAID BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR!!!

One of the few industries not suffering right now is gaming. In fact, video game companies are selling more titles than ever.

2 of the biggest game publishers who release on Playstation, Xbox and mobile are both looking for new music for a number of upcoming titles.

We can’t give the names of the game titles (for obvious reasons) but in total over 100 tracks are required across them, straddling pretty much all musical genres.

We are happy to consider Rock, Indie, Pop, Hip Hop / Rap, Christian, Blues, Jazz, Easy listening, Romantic Ballads, Metal, New Age / World, R&B, Country, Industrial, EDM, Beats, Funk, Classical and Soundtrack. Covers are also acceptable as are partial, cues and instrumentals as well as full tracks with vocals of course!

We will take demos too but if selected they will need to be completed for delivery this year.

This is a 100% NON exclusive deal so you are not giving up any rights. Payments will range from one or two thousand dollars per track right up to 5 figure deals and each track you select will be considered for numerous titles.

So, if you want to be considered for this opp then all you need to do is SUBMIT TODAY!

Finally we have said this before but it is SUPER IMPORTANT. We will happily take and include multiple tracks from the same artist, band or writer, so feel free to submit multiple pieces. And as always, a track being previously selected, currently on hold, or not by us does NOT exclude it from this opp. This opp is totally new and you have JUST as much chance to be placed as anyone. In fact, more often if we have heard a track before, it is likely to resonate due to the familiarity. So, let’s hear your amazing tracks, old and new!

Last date for submissions is the 27th of May 2020.

Pathological Video Game Use Among Youths: A Two-Year Longitudinal Study

Several correlational studies documented that participants who would be classified as "pathological" video gamers demonstrate a pattern of correlations with other variables that are comorbid (eg, depression) or occur with (eg, poorer grades and increased hostility) other addictions.

Following a large sample across 2 years, this study provides needed data on risk factors for becoming a pathological gamer, how long pathological gaming lasts, outcomes, and whether it is a primary problem or is a symptom of comorbid problems. (Read the full article)

Impact of an Active Video Game on Healthy Children's Physical Activity

Active video games can enable children under laboratory conditions to participate in moderate, and even vigorous, physical activity. There are inconsistencies in the literature, however, about whether active video games enable children to increase physical activity under more naturalistic circumstances.

This study tests whether children receiving a new active video game spontaneously engaged in more physical activity, and whether commercially available active video games have a public health benefit. No additional physical activity was detected, suggesting no public health benefit. (Read the full article)

Video Game Use in Boys With Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, or Typical Development

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and those with ADHD are at risk for problematic video game use. However, group differences in media use or in the factors associated with problematic video game use have not been studied.

Boys with ASD and ADHD demonstrated greater problematic video game use than did boys with typical development. Inattention was uniquely associated with problematic use for both groups, and role-playing game genre was associated with problematic use among the ASD group only. (Read the full article)
