ends Fox And Friends On Pete Hegseth Nomination: 'Is That Real?' By crooksandliars.com Published On :: Wed, 13 Nov 2024 17:13:29 +0000 Fox and Friends co host Steve Doocy admitted his shock after realizing Trump had actually tapped his Fox News colleague Pete Hegseth to be Defense Secretary. "Is that real?" Doocy said, not believing it could be true. The Fox and Friends hosts did their best to pretend their colleague is completely qualified to be the Secretary of Defense, even though he has no experience running anything other than a shell charity that he paid his brother with. Doccy: So I’m looking at Twitter for a moment or X because I noticed that Peter Doocy was trending on Twitter and it turns out because he’s been suggested for press secretary. And that’s just so funny to me because it’s like, come on. And then I saw this thing. Pete Hegseth has been named the nominee for press secretary or, rather, Secretary of Defense, and I thought, ‘Well, is that real?’ And then it started to like a gusher. All this news that essentially caught Washington totally off guard. Pete Hegseth! The guy on the couch, is Donald Trump’s selection to be the Secretary of Defense. I didn't clip all the rest of their chitchat since they gave their rubes the basic "alternative facts" rationale to defend Donald Dump and anything MAGA. They almost claimed Hegseth was overqualified for the job. What a joke. read more Full Article Donald Trump cabinet nominations Pete Hegseth SecDef Steve Doocy Trump apologists
ends 'She didn't actually quit': CEO fires assistant after she spends $2k on fake farewell party with company funds By cheezburger.com Published On :: Wed, 13 Nov 2024 07:00:00 -0800 There's something universally awkward about office parties—whether it's the forced mingling, the questionable food choices, or that one coworker who takes "open bar" a little too literally. Most of us just try to blend into the crowd, avoid making eye contact with our managers, and hope the night ends without too many cringe-worthy moments. But for one unfortunate team, a party to celebrate an employee's resignation was nothing more than a "social experiment."It's one thing to make a grand exit when you're moving on to bigger things, but this employee decided to throw herself a farewell bash complete with company-funded catering, decorations, and a custom cake... all while the CEO was on out of the office. The CEO returned from a conference to find her assistant had announced her departure in a company-wide email and threw a party on the company's dime, just to admit she was never really leaving in the first place. ends Apple Defends Mac Mini Power Button Relocation By apple.slashdot.org Published On :: 2024-11-13T14:41:00+00:00 Apple executives have defended the relocation of the power button to the bottom of its new M4 Mac mini, citing the computer's significantly reduced size as the driving factor behind the design change. In a Bilibili video interview, Apple's Greg Joswiak and John Ternus explained that the Mac mini's form factor, now half the size of its predecessor, necessitated finding a new position for the power button. ends Mozilla Foundation lays off 30% of its employees, ends advocacy for open web, privacy, and more By www.osnews.com Published On :: Fri, 08 Nov 2024 20:43:21 +0000 More bad news from Mozilla. The Mozilla Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the Firefox browser maker Mozilla, has laid off 30% of its employees as the organization says it faces a “relentless onslaught of change.” Announcing the layoffs in an email to all employees on October 30, the Mozilla Foundation’s executive director Nabiha Syed confirmed that two of the foundation’s major divisions — advocacy and global programs — are “no longer a part of our structure.” ↫ Zack Whittaker at TechCrunch This means Mozilla will no longer be advocating for an open web, privacy, and related ideals, which fits right in with the organisation’s steady decline into an ad-driven effort that also happens to be making a web browser used by, I’m sorry to say, effectively nobody. I just don’t know how many more signs people need to see before realising that the future of Firefox is very much at stake, and that we’re probably only a few years away from losing the only non-big tech browser out there. This should be a much bigger concern than it seems to be to especially the Linux and BSD world, who rely heavily on Firefox, without a valid alternative to shift to once the browser’s no longer compatible with the various open source requirements enforced by Linux distributions and the BSDs. What this could also signal is that the sword of Damocles dangling above Mozilla’s head is about to come down, and that the people involved know more than we do. Google is effectively bankrolling Mozilla – for about 80% of its revenue – but that deal has come under increasing scrutiny from regulars, and Google itself, too, must be wondering why they’re wasting money supporting a browser nobody’s using. We’re very close to a web ruled by Google and Apple. If that prospect doesn’t utterly terrify you, I honestly wonder what you’re doing here, reading this. Full Article Mozilla Gecko
ends Valve ends Steam’s support for Windows 7 and 8 By www.osnews.com Published On :: Tue, 12 Nov 2024 21:54:24 +0000 Steam has finally stopped working on several older Windows operating systems, following a warning from Valve that it planned to drop support earlier this year. With little fanfare, Windows 7 and Windows 8 gaming on Steam is no longer possible following the most recent Steam client update on November 5. ↫ Ben Stockton at PCGamesN It’s honestly wild that Valve supported Windows 7 and 8 for this long for Steam in the first place. They’ve been out of support for a long time, and at this point in time, less than 0.3% of Steam users were using Windows 7 or 8. Investing any resources in continuing to support them would be financially irresponsible, while also aiding a tiny bit in allowing people to use such unsupported, insecure systems to this day. I’m sure at least one of you is still rocking Windows 7 or 8 as your daily driver operating system, so I’m sorry if you don’t want to hear this, but it’s really, really time to move on. Buying a Windows 10 or 11 license on eBay or whatever costs a few euros at most – if you’re not eligible for one the free upgrade programs Microsoft ran – and especially Windows 10 should run just fine on pretty much anything Windows 7 or 8 runs on. Do note that with Windows 10, though, you’ll be back in the same boat next year. Full Article Games

The reality is that the nature of work is evolving. During my more than 25-year career, I have held a number of leadership positions. Early in my time in the health insurance industry, compensation reigned supreme among my employees, while health and wellness were perceived as a nice-to-have benefit. Now, workplace norms are beginning to align more with employee wants and needs and new rules about conducting business are being established — particularly when it comes to employee health and wellness. I believe this shift, which I have witnessed within my own team, will continue to dominate work environments across the nation in the new year. complete article Full Article
