Assistant United States Attorney - Criminal Division

USAO Southern District of California
Attorney positions available in the San Diego Office
San Diego, California
Announcement #: 20-SDCA-10808887-AUSA03
Application Deadline: May 25, 2020

The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently seeking experienced attorneys for one or more positions as an Assistant U.S. Attorney ("AUSA") in the Criminal Division.  Positions are available in the San Diego office.

The Criminal Division is organized into seven sections, which consist of the Border Enforcement Section, Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF Section), the Violent Crimes and Human Trafficking Section, the Major Frauds and Public Corruption Section, the National Security and Cybercrimes Section, the Asset Recovery Section, and the Appellate Section.  (See the San Diego U.S. Attorney’s website www.justice.gov/usao-sdca for a detailed description of each section.)

Commensurate with experience and needs of the Office, AUSAs may be assigned to different sections in the U.S. Attorney’s Office.  New hires are expected to start in the Border Enforcement Section.  The Border Enforcement Section is the largest section in the Criminal Division and accounts for approximately 95 percent of the cases prosecuted in the Southern District of California.

The Border Enforcement Section handles a large volume of reactive cases that arise from policing the 141-mile long border between California and Mexico, six Ports of Entry, and the roughly 70 miles of coastline stretching from the U.S.-Mexico border to the northernmost tip of San Diego County. Cases commonly include illegal entry and reentry, drug importation and alien smuggling prosecutions.  This section consists of an Intake Team, Fast-Track Team, Immigration Team and four Trial Teams.  Border Enforcement Section attorneys try a large number of cases and often oversee the use of investigative tools like search and tracking warrants, undercover operations and confidential sources.

Enclosed is a link to the Southern District of California's web page for more information about the office.

Jealousy-freeness and other common properties in Fair Division of Mixed Manna. (arXiv:2004.11469v2 [cs.GT] UPDATED)

We consider a fair division setting where indivisible items are allocated to agents. Each agent in the setting has strictly negative, zero or strictly positive utility for each item. We, thus, make a distinction between items that are good for some agents and bad for other agents (i.e. mixed), good for everyone (i.e. goods) or bad for everyone (i.e. bads). For this model, we study axiomatic concepts of allocations such as jealousy-freeness up to one item, envy-freeness up to one item and Pareto-optimality. We obtain many new possibility and impossibility results in regard to combinations of these properties. We also investigate new computational tasks related to such combinations. Thus, we advance the state-of-the-art in fair division of mixed manna.

Individual-specific information generation apparatus and individual-specific information generation method

The generation of individual-specific information having a good reliability and uniqueness is made possible with a little circuit scale. For this purpose, in an individual-specific information generation apparatus, a plurality of digital circuits are in the same circuit configuration. Each of the digital circuits outputs a fixed or a random number output value individually without their output with respect to a certain input being determined unambiguously among the digital circuits. In each of the digital circuit, an order is defined in advance. A random number judgment unit judges whether the output value is a random value or fixed, for each of the plurality of digital circuits. An individual-specific information generation unit generates the individual-specific information based on information of the order defined in the digital circuit judged by the random number judgment unit as having a fixed output value among the plurality of digital circuits and the output value.

Integer divider module

A method includes receiving a dividend and a divisor for performing a division operation. Numbers p and n are found, for which the divisor equals 2n(1+2p). An interim result, which is equal to a reciprocal of 1+2p multiplied by the dividend, is calculated. The interim result is divided by 2n to produce a result of the division operation.

The secondary coil assembly (4) has a first coil section (4a) disposed radially inside the turns (3) of the primary coil assembly (2) and a second coil section (4b) disposed radially outside the turns (3) of the primary coil assembly (2). The fault current limiter has an increased inductance ratio.

The positive write trace is separated into at least two positive write trace sections located at two different layers respectively, and the negative write trace is separated into at least two negative write trace sections located at two different layers respectively. Each positive write trace section and each negative write trace section are alternately arranged along a longitudinal direction on two different layers, and the positive write trace sections at different layers are connected together via conductive crossovers, and the negative write trace sections are connected together via conductive crossovers. The present invention can obtain balanced propagation time in the stacked trace structure to reduce signal distortion, and obtain widened frequency bandwidth.

divi

Method for arbitrary-precision division or modular reduction

A method in a portable data carrier for executing a cryptographic operation on security-relevant data comprises a step of determining a remainder (r) of a dividend (a) modulo a divisor (b). In so doing, the remainder (r) is determined iteratively by means of a division device of the data carrier. In each iteration there is carried out a Montgomery multiplication with the divisor (b) as the modulus and an additive linkage of an output value of the Montgomery multiplication with a coefficient (ai) derived from the dividend (a) and associated with the respective iteration. The Montgomery multiplication is carried out here by means of a multiplication device of the data carrier, preferably a corresponding coprocessor. The Montgomery multiplication of a subsequent iteration receives a result of a preceding iteration as an input value.

Method and system for synchronizing the phase of a plurality of divider circuits in a local-oscillator signal path

A method and system for synchronizing the output signal phase of a plurality of frequency divider circuits in a local-oscillator (LO) or clock signal path is disclosed. The LO path includes a plurality of frequency divider circuits and a LO buffer for receiving a LO signal coupled to the plurality of frequency divider circuits. The method and system comprise adding offset voltage and setting predetermined state to each of the frequency divider circuits; and enabling the frequency divider circuits. The method and system includes enabling the LO buffer to provide the LO signal to the frequency divider circuits after they have been enabled. When the LO signal drives each of the frequency divider circuits, each of the frequency divider circuits starts an operation. Finally the method and system comprise removing the offset voltage from each of the frequency divider circuits to allow them to effectively drive other circuits.
