This workshop will convene leading experts from health and finance backgrounds in government, academia, and international organisations to take stock of progress in health expenditure forecasting and to discuss future directions, in light of policy needs and recent advancements in techniques, detailed data and computing power.

An ageing population brings new challenges both to healthcare systems and to medicine in terms of the increased manifestation of specific diseases primarily seen in the elderly. Biomedical innovation, and in particular research into "omics technologies", offers the promise of new means of detection, prevention and treatment of age-related disabilities and diseases.

The workshop "Impact of Inequality on the Future Elderly – Policy Tools and Actions" will take place at the OECD Headquarters in Paris on April 5-6, 2018. Access the agenda, background documents, and register to attend.

Held in Amsterdam on 7 April 2014, this workshop focused on: long-term pension investment strategies under risk-based regulation; riskiness and pro-cyclicality in pension asset allocation; and, regulatory challenges for long-term illiquid assets.

The OECD hosted a workshop on green investment banks on 20 May 2015. It built upon discussions of green banks at the OECD Green Investment Financing Fora (May 2015 and June 2014) and continued international dialogue on the experiences of green banks. The workshop welcomed 9 different green banks, public financial institutions, NGOs, the private sector and over 20 countries interested in the green bank model.

Training Workshop on the elaboration and evaluation of regulatory impact assessment (RIA)

This workshop focused on how to comply with international regulations on conflict-free gold supply chains and how to make the most of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.

The purpose of this workshop was to share information with the Ukrainian authorities about the obligations of governments under the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises related to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, one of four instruments of the Declaration.

This meeting will provide the opportunity to discuss the role of governments, international partners and businesses in promoting responsible mineral supply chains from conflict-affected and high-risk areas. Participants will learn first hand about international standards and approaches, and be able to ask questions to experts in supply chain due diligence implementation.

Archaeologists in Pakistan have found what they describe as 'definitely the largest ivory workshop discovered in the world.' The workshop was found at a renowned dig site in Bhanbhore.

Michael Northcroft has been using a broom for decades to sweep his store in east London but has now been told he can no longer use it by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The ancient workshop is thought to date back to the 18th Dynasty, during the reign of Amenhotep III - King Tut's grandfather. The sphinx and hundreds of hieroglyphic fragments were found at the site.

Mario Torero is an important figure in the San Diego California Barrio Logan group of artists active in the Chicano civil rights movement. From 1988 to 1993 he was the Commissioner of the City of San Diego Commission of Arts and Culture, and taught at several San Diego colleges and schools. He is a co-founder of several local cultural organizations, including the Centro Cultural de la Raza, and the Chicano Park Murals Outdoor Museum. Torero's work has been exhibited in the United States, Mexico, Peru, Germany, and Japan. Some of his major murals are in San Diego, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Prague. He has writen articles for the San Diego Union, the Los Angeles Times, Time magazine, and USA Today.
