In addition to this, two more repatriation flights -- one each from Singapore and Manila ( Philippines) -- are expected to arrive in Mumbai on Sunday, it said. While the flight from Singapore (AI 343) will be carrying 243 passengers, the Manila-Mumbai flight (AI 387) would bring back 241 Indian nationals from the South East Asian country, as per the statement. This study explores the possibility of measuring the dynamics of proteins in solution using X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS) at nearly diffraction-limited storage rings (DLSRs). We calculate the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of XPCS experiments from a concentrated lysozyme solution at the length scale of the hydrodynamic radius of the protein molecule. We take into account limitations given by the critical X-ray dose and find expressions for the SNR as a function of beam size, sample-to-detector distance and photon energy. Specifically, we show that the combined increase in coherent flux and coherence lengths at the DLSR PETRA IV yields an increase in SNR of more than one order of magnitude. The resulting SNR values indicate that XPCS experiments of biological macromolecules on nanometre length scales will become feasible with the advent of a new generation of synchrotron sources. Our findings provide valuable input for the design and construction of future XPCS beamlines at DLSRs.

The residual strain distribution has been measured as a function of depth in both top coat and bond coat in as-received and heat-treated air plasma sprayed thermal barrier coating samples. High-energy synchrotron X-ray beams were used in transmission to produce full Debye–Scherrer rings whose non-circular aspect ratio gave the in-plane and out-of-plane strains far more efficiently than the sin2ψ method. The residual strain in the bond coat is found to be tensile and the strain in the β phase of the as-received sample was measured. The residual strains observed in the top coat were generally compressive (increasing towards the interface), with two kinds of nonlinear trend. These was a `jump' feature near the interface, and in some cases there was another `jump' feature near the surface. It is shown how these trend differences can be correlated to cracks in the coating.
