May 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of poet Walt Whitman, who revolutionized the style and content of American poetry with his 1855 publication of Leaves of Grass. Whitman was also a journalist, printer, publisher, orator, and prose writer.

The Library of Congress holds the largest group of Whitman-related special collection materials in the world, including printed materials, rare books, photographs, and manuscripts. In this webinar program, Manuscript Division historian Barbara Bair highlights the content and research use of three digitized Whitman manuscript collections as well as programs celebrating Whitman’s birthday at the Library of Congress.

Toll collections to see 13% drop due to 57-day coronavirus lockdown: CRISIL Research

With the nationwide lockdown to fight the COVID-19 pandemic restricting inter- and intra-state traffic to essential services, toll collections from build-operate-transfer (BOT) highway projects, and remittances from publicly funded projects would decline sharply in the near term, Crisil report said.

NHAI to resume toll collection on national highways from April 20

Replying to a letter from NHAI, the ministry said the NHAI in letters dated April 11 and 14 has highlighted reasons for resuming the collection of user fee on national highways, saying that the Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed a lot of activities with effect from April 20, including commercial and private establishments and construction activities.

Besides construction activity, the home ministry has allowed commercial and private establishments to resume operations. Toll collection falls under this category. Interstate and intra-state movement of all trucks and other goods or carrier vehicles has also been allowed.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as well as highway developers resumed collection at toll plazas. Highways developer IRB Infrastructure Developers said all its Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) "have resumed their toll collection from 00.00 hours today" in line with the NHAI directives.
