Seeking Covers of Hit Songs for Licensing Placements

The post houses and advertising agencies we work with seem to have a never ending demand for covers of popular songs. Therefor, we would like to broaden our catalog with inventive cover versions of compositions that have been big worldwide hits.

We are not looking for interpretations trying to imitate the original. We are seeking just the opposite - new takes on well known songs which transport them to new, unexpected directions. Covers are usually considered for film trailers and big ad campaigns, so it would be great to hear submissions that have space and a “cinematic” sound. However, if you have a dynamic, aggressive cover of a slow song, that could work too.

Below are some brilliant examples of what we would like to hear:
- Skylar Grey - Addicted To Love
- Vega Choir - Creep
- Lo-Fang - You’re The One That I Want
- Hannah Peel - Tainted Love
- Think Up Anger feat. Malia J - Smells Like Teen Spirit
- Lorde - Everybody Wants To Rule The World
- KI Theory - Enjoy The Silence

Please submit only professionally recorded and mastered songs.

As an added bonus, if your cover is Selected, we will offer to release your music on Filter Label. The songs by our talented artists can be heard in The OA, Exatlon, The Matrix Revisited, CSI: Las Vegas, Nikita, on ads for McDonald's, Nike, Philip Morris, Nestle Wagner, Bank Millennium, in shows on MTV, CNN, Nat Geo, NBC, Al Jazeera, Esquire, Channel 4 and almost every major TV network in the world.

Seeking Hopeful Songs for Sync Placements

We have noticed a repeating trend in the music requests we receive from our partners in the advertising world and therefor we would like to enrich our catalog with more songs about human kindness.

The genre is not really important as long as the song has a hopeful, optimistic feel. Possible lyrical directions could be: diversity, inclusion, walking the same ground, love (not romantic), people's kindness, help, togetherness etc.

Below are two great examples of the type of songs we are seeking:

- Birdy - People Help the People
- Brandi Carlile - The Joke

Please submit only professionally recorded and mastered songs. The best submissions will be included in our catalog for licensing which is available to our network of contacts in the film, TV and advertising industry.

As an added bonus, if your song is Selected, we will offer to release your music on Filter Label. Platinum-Selling Songwriter Jimmy Webb On The Stories Behind His Biggest Hits

Platinum-selling songwriter Jimmy Webb stopped by our studio last October to talk about his first memoir, " The Cake And The Rain ." Artists from Frank Sinatra to Barbara Streisand have recorded Webb's songs. Some of his hits include “Up, Up and Away,” “Wichita Lineman,” “MacArthur Park,” and “By The Time I Get to Phoenix.” Our conversation begins with a discussion of his childhood in rural Elk City, Oklahoma. He explains how his mother’s “iron will and sometimes anger” drove him to the piano. Plus, Webb talks about the time he was out plowing a field when a voice on the radio captivated him. It belonged to Glen Campbell , who became a close collaborator of Webb’s. He reveals the story behind his celebrated classic "By The Time I Get To Phoenix," for which Campbell won two Grammy awards. Webb also talks about his hit "Wichita Lineman," another song that Campbell recorded. Once, at the Songwriters Hall of Fame , Billy Joel described “Wichita Lineman” as being “emblematic of an ordinary

Perform Record a Version of the Song "Down by the Bay" (Remote)

I wrote a book for my son's birthday that is a version of the song Down by the Bay. I would love to accompany the not-quite-a-book with an MP3 of the song that he can sing along with. If you can sing and play an instrument (guitar, piano, kazoo, whatever) and put together a fun/happy/lively recording of the song, I want you! I was thinking $50 CAD? But I don't really know what's reasonable here. Also, I would somewhat prefer a Canadian just because I know how to email/text money to a Canadian, but I'm not really sure how I would pay anyone else. But if you have a way for me to pay you (I dunno a web site where I can "checkout" or whatever) then I'm happy for whoever.

Every Day A Song

It took a plague to slow me down enough to realize a years-held dream: posting a new video to youtube every day (almost) of me playing the guitar and singing a song. Been at it for a couple of weeks now and it's going pretty good! Covers so far include Lucinda Williams, Woody Guthrie, Doc Watson, and Steven Universe, plus a bunch by Trad of Itional, and I would describe the musical style as crude but heartfelt. Hope you enjoy!

Denver Rapper & Songwriter BVNK Releases New Single “SITUATIONS’

STREAM HERE: https://open.spotify.com/track/0ZuUEeXuSvg4uupbGRqzxu?si=YTak2s4-SaafSkR1vG0b4w

Exciting new rapper, singer and songwriter BVNK is a musical product of his environment, having been born in Nigeria, raised in the UK, and now residing in North America – his music is a melting pot of lush R&B, heavy-hitting hip hop, and melodic rap/sung, flavoured with indie music sensibilities, with his life experiences across three different continents informing his storytelling and songwriting. After dipping his toes into the waters last year with two mixtapes including fan-favourite ‘Promises’, Bvnk is set to take 2020 by the scruff of its neck, starting with his brand new single titled ‘SITUATIONS’.

Produced by burgeoning LA-based musician and beatsmith Twelve 92, and taken from his forthcoming debut EP titled XX/XX (pronounced 20/20), Bvnk’s ‘Situations’ sees the Denver rapper-singer taking responsibility for failures in his past relationship, as he croons, “I did something to you, I never said sorry to you”, before kicking off his rap verse with, “tell me what I did to make you feel like I was breaking you”. The track is led by dreamy R&B guitar licks, minimalist drum arrangements, groovy melodies, and an infectious bassline, over which Bvnk showcases his dual singing and rapping talents, and undeniable songwriting dexterities.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the ‘Situations’ track, Bvnk says, “In a time where the world is full of one sided stories, and men thinking that taking responsibility is weak for some reason or the other, with women left having to deal with their toxic masculine energy, I wanted to take the truthful route on ‘Situations’. The song is about me looking into the mirror, taking responsibility, and apologising for the hurt I had caused. Amidst it all, ‘two wrongs don’t make a right’ is the perfect quote that explains ‘Situations’, because I’m ultimately asking for a second chance”.
