This exploit leverages both invalid typecast and memory disclosure vulnerabilities in Microsoft Silverlight 5 in order to achieve code execution. This exploit code demonstrates remote code execution by popping calc.exe. It was obtained through the Packet Storm Bug Bounty program. Google flags this as malware so only use this if you know what you are doing. The password to unarchive this zip is the word "infected".

Microsoft Silverlight 5 suffers from invalid typecast and memory disclosure vulnerabilities that, when leveraged together, allow for arbitrary code execution. A memory disclosure vulnerability exists in the public WriteableBitmap class from System.Windows.dll. This class allows reading of image pixels from the user-defined data stream via the public SetSource() method. BitmapSource.ReadStream() allocates and returns byte array and a count of array items as out parameters. These returned values are taken from the input stream and they can be fully controlled by the untrusted code. When returned "count" is greater than "array.Length", then data outside the "array" are used as input stream data by the native BitmapSource_SetSource() from agcore.dll. Later all data can be viewed via the public WriteableBitmap.Pixels[] property. Exploitation details related to these findings were purchased through the Packet Storm Bug Bounty program.

From June 2018 to June 2019, the Australian Bureau of Statistics says Australians made a record 11.3 million trips overseas – double the number of trips just 10 years ago. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, millions of Australians have been forced to cancel or alter their international travel plans.

This has left many Australians struggling to get refunds from travel providers. Flight Centre was charging $300 in processing fees per person, in some cases leading to fees that cost more than the value of the refund, until the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission stepped in and threatened legal action, causing the company to waive fees for trips cancelled by travel providers. The ACCC also warned travel providers against retroactively changing their cancellation policies after tour companies including Topdeck and Intrepid attempted to retrospectively apply updated refund policies that would force customers to take credit rather than cash for cancelled trips.

Following a four-day trial and less than an hour of deliberations, a federal jury today convicted tax return preparer, Marcel J. Toto-Ngosso, of Silver Spring, Md., of 17 counts of preparing false tax returns in connection with a scheme to generate fraudulent tax refunds for client-taxpayers.

“This forfeiture of more than $40 million in jewelry should remind criminals around the globe that they will be found, prosecuted and stripped of assets that are not theirs to keep,” said Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer.
