ETSI, which produces globally applicable standards for ICT, has launched a new Industry Specification Group on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (ISG RIS). The group has been created to review and establish global standardization for RIS technology.

Joint work with Ailsa Keating (Cambridge). We prove the homological mirror symmetry conjecture of Kontsevich for K3 surfaces in the following form: The Fukaya category of a projective K3 surface is equivalent to the derived category of coherent sheaves on the mirror, which is a K3 surface of Picard rank 19 over the field of formal Laurent series. This builds on prior work of Seidel (who proved the theorem in the case of the quartic surface), Sheridan, Lekili--Ueda, and Ganatra--Pardon--Shende.

I will try to keep prerequisites to a minimum, in particular, I will not assume prior knowledge of the Fukaya category.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Building Technologies Office has released a request for information seeking stakeholder input on the design and construction of tenant spaces that achieve high levels of energy efficiency in commercial buildings.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) Confined Spaces in Construction final rule, issued May 4, 2015, created confusion in the HVAC industry. ACCA announced that, after months of negotiations with OSHA, an agreement clarifies that the rule has very limited application in the residential HVAC industry.

If contractors in colder climates focus on educating their customers on what new higher-efficiency furnaces bring to the table, often times the furnaces will sell themselves.

Cold climate heat pumps were on full display on the AHR show floor and manufacturers were eager to share their progress reports in the Department of Energy’s CCHP Challenge.

Manufacturers will have five years, from the date the rule is published in the Federal Register, to ensure that new gas furnaces comply with the new minimum.

Residential gas furnaces must all have a minimum AFUE of 95% beginning in five years. Some in the HVAC industry say the new Department of Energy rule will ultimately hurt homeowners.

The program, which started in 2018 with in-person sprints and moved virtual in 2020, uses a flexible Agile framework that spans a week of interactions, such as planning, training, ideation, coding, standups, demos, etc. What’s great about the program is that all sides learn — the customer’s developers get more direct experience coding in OCI, the customer’s executive management gets needed projects initiated that can be evolved to eventual deployment, and Oracle gets valuable engineering feedback that can help improve OCI.
