Trick Shot, Take 2,000: Guy Flips Golf Tee Into Bottle Pour Spout

Because with enough time spent at home you can accomplish anything, no matter how incredibly inconsequential, this is a video of a guy with a dog bed full of golf tees successfully flipping one into a bottle's pour spout. I wonder how many tries it really took. And, wait -- is that olive oil? It's not even liquor?! So let me get this straight -- you're spending quarantine trying to flip golf tees into a bottle pour spout sober? Well thank God we didn't get trapped in the same house when the rona hit. "Why's that, GW?" You can't get drunk on olive oil. "Nope, no matter how much you drink." Or balsamic vinegar, I've tried. Keep going for the actual video (with a much more respectable frame rate), complete with "Let's go! Let's go!" celebration, although I'm fairly certain this guy isn't actually going anywhere.

  • against all odds
  • and they said it couldn't be done
  • dare to dream
  • feats of boredom
  • oh wow
  • so how are you spending your quarantine?
  • so that's what that looks like
  • try and try again
  • trying hard and believing in yourself

The design – inspired by concerns over the melting polar ice caps – is an arctic landscape.

My happy place: readers' travel tips

Memories of beaches – in the UK or further afield – as well as village bars, sunrise views and days out with tea and cake are sustaining readers during lockdown

A day out in Whitby. Morning tea and fruit cake with Wensleydale at Bothams. Walk to the sea, and out onto the pier. Walk up the beach, climb up the cliff and then back to the town past the whale’s jaw. Fresh crab sandwiches for lunch, then climb the 199 steps to the Priory. Back down, just enough time for afternoon tea and cake before crossing back over the river for a fish supper at the Magpie. Drive back over the beautiful North Yorkshire moors; the end of a perfect day, in perfect weather every time.

Covid-19 competence has given Australian governments some political capital. But there's a flipside | Katharine Murphy

Politicians have set a high bar for themselves – success on coronavirus has created community expectations that will be challenging to shift

“Let’s not give everything back, let’s not throw away all the progress we’ve made by letting our frustration get the better of us.” This was Daniel Andrews on Friday afternoon, shortly after national cabinet resolved to gradually restart economic and social activity by July.

The Victorian premier wanted people to understand he’d be hastening slowly – the message being here in the Massachusetts of Australia, we decide how quickly we’ll remove coronavirus restrictions. We don’t apply an arbitrary national average.
