cam 'Go Back Where You Came From': The Long Rhetorical Roots Of Trump's Racist Tweets By www.krcc.org Published On :: Tue, 16 Jul 2019 10:47:30 +0000 When President Trump tweeted his racist remarks Sunday, asking why certain Democratic congresswomen don't just "go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came," he did not just take aim at the four women of color — three of whom were born in the U.S. He did so using a taunt that has long, deeply entrenched roots in American history: Why don't you just go back where you came from? The question doesn't always appear in those precise words, nor does it always surface in the same situations. And it doesn't always get directed at the same groups of people — far from it, in fact. But more often than not, it conveys the same sentiment: You — and others like you — are not welcome here. "There have been different phrases that have been used," says Michael Cornfield , a scholar of rhetoric at George Washington University , "but the idea that we don't have any more room for people, or those people don't look like us, this is a long, ugly strain in American Full Article

cam Ronan Farrow on a Campaign of Silence By www.wnyc.org Published On :: Mon, 21 Oct 2019 12:00:00 -0400 Farrow’s reporting on Harvey Weinstein and other accused perpetrators of sexual assault helped opened the floodgates of the #MeToo movement. In his new book, “Catch and Kill,” and in “The Black Cube Chronicles” published on newyorker.com, Farrow details the measures that were taken against him and against some of the accusers who went on the record. These included hiring a private spy firm staffed by ex-Mossad officers. Speaking with David Remnick, Farrow lays out a connection between accusations against Harvey Weinstein and NBC’s Matt Lauer. And he interviewed a private investigator named Igor Ostrovskiy who was assigned to spy on him—until he had a crisis of conscience. cam Youtube travel show - video camera By ask.metafilter.com Published On :: Mon, 04 May 2020 09:25:59 -0800 A low budget one man type of travel show, similar to "Bald and Bankrupt". What sort of camera setup would you use? I am looking to buy camera and all related gear but it seem like there are a lot of conflicting aspects in terms of what would best work. Please give me your own opinion and advice, here are some of my key criteria:1) I am thinking it has to have the option for mic jack / external mic, relying on the built in mic seems to often give really shitty audio.2) Size, as compact as possible, needs to be easy to tote around while travelling3) Price - not so much that I cannot spend the $$$, I guess "discreet" is more the thing... where I will be shooting there could be thieves as well as police or other officials that would think "journalism" if they see a really pro looking setup. When I look up "prosumer" level cameras I see fairly bulky and fancy looking units. Again my main concern here is I do not want to look too juicy to thieves, and I need to be able to work in places where border guards will not immediately think "journalist" and police and others will think more "tourist who just happens to have good gear".Oh, and:1) one man show, so all auxilliary gear etc needs to fit in like a backpack or large tote bag2) needs to be digital, such that uploading footage to the cloud is easy3) should be flexible such that it is easy to point and shoot throughout travels, as well as set up like on a tripod for properly framed scenesIf I am thinking about this entirely wrong, please tell me that, too.If you think "just shoot with your phone" that is kind of off the table, I want to be producing semi-pro quality video and audio when I do this.So please, tell me, what would you buy? cam Less expensive mirrorless camera for video? By ask.metafilter.com Published On :: Thu, 30 Apr 2020 14:01:21 -0800 So what do you buy in 2020 if you want an inexpensive ILC that you're going to use primarily for video? Panasonic? I'm thinking of buying used for less than, say, $850 with lens. Probably just leave the kit lens on there for the moment, probably just use it for family videos. I love the form factor of the GX9 but the lack of a mic jack is a bummer. But if I'm not shooting super serious video do I even need a mic jack? Please don't suggest phones, I really hate phones. cam Beats needed for TV & Online Advertising Campaigns in South Korea ($500-$14,000 per use) By feedproxy.google.com Published On :: Mon, 13 May 2019 11:51:04 +0000 Currently seeking “beats” for use in TV & Online advertising campaigns in South Korea! ,br> When I say “beats”, I mean any tracks that are driven by a breakbeat, as one, if not the most dominant part of the track. Ie, Drum & Bass, Hip-Hop, Dubstep, Electronica, Edm, Trap, Grime, Experimental etc. All tracks must be upbeat and have a “Phat Beat”, “Killer Beat”, “Sick Beats”, “Dope Beat” or whatever your preferred description would be. Music must be well produced, high-quality, mixed and mastered. Instrumental tracks preferred please, but great vocal tracks can be accepted too (if you can supply instrumental versions even better) and all tempos considered. Artists must own all rights to their music 100% on both sides and there must be no copyright infringement. All music will be listened to, reviewed and feedback given. The average cost of TV advertising commercial in Korea is $800 to $1,500 per track, and for worldwide rights up to $14,000. The average cost of Online & YouTube advertising in Korea is $500-$2500 (geo restricted for single country of Korea), and worldwide use for $3000-$5000. Selected tracks be sent to clients in South Korea and music licensed on a non-exclusive basis (so you maintain all rights to your music), we simply go 50-50 on deals we get and you're paid quarterly. The South Korean market is built on a unique structure, which is not the same as any foreign market structure around the world. Because of this Korea has a higher advertising music fee than most other countries. This may be due to systemic limitations that the performing royalties cannot be collected, but also because there is no subsequent secondary payment after the initial payment of music fees. The total amount paid in Korea is 100% mechanical payout. Clients who will be using music in South Korea; Korea's major advertising agencies including the CHEIL and INOCEAN and brands such as; Samsung, LG, Hyundai and SK to name a few. If you make “beats’ I really look forward to hearing from you ! All the best, - Giles Gale - Music supervisor, sync & Licensing Manager - Resonant Music Licensing Full Article

cam CDC Guidance For Reopening Schools, Child Care And Summer Camps Is Leaked By feedproxy.google.com Published On :: Thu, 07 May 2020 23:14:00 +0000 No field trips. No game rooms. No teddy bears. These are some of the CDC's guidelines for reopening schools, childcare centers and day camps safely in places where coronavirus cases are on the decline. The guidance, which also covers restaurants, churches and other public places, was obtained by The Associated Press , which reports that the White House tried to keep it from coming to light. The New York Times quoted Mark Meadows, the chief of staff, as being concerned that the guidelines were "overly prescriptive." The CDC does not have authority to enforce its guidance, which is intended for public information only; the actual policy decisions are up to state and local governments. Schools are closed through the end of the school year throughout much of the country, with the exception of Montana, which welcomed a handful of students back this week. Child care protocols are different in different states. But millions of parents need child care so they can work, and socialization and Full Article
