The Reserve Bank of India lowered its benchmark repurchase rate by 75 bps to 4.40 percent from 5.15 percent on 27th March in an unscheduled move, joining central banks around the world in delivering stimulus to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the economy. The central bank also cut the cash reserve ratio by 100 basis points to 3% to boost liquidity. .
