HANDS-FREE STRIKER FOR LIGHTING A TORCH

A hands-free striker assembly for use with a torch cart for igniting a torch attached to the torch cart. The hands-free striker has a mounting body mounted to the torch cart having a striker tip for lighting the torch. The hands-free striker also has a friction pad for lighting the torch by passing the torch over the friction pad and into contact with the striker tip.

LIGHTING ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTING A LIGHTING ARRANGEMENT

A lighting arrangement has a housing having an interior and a light outlet region, and at least one light-providing device. The light-providing device is configured such that it can be arranged within the interior to emit light during operation through the light outlet region to the outside. The light-providing device can be coupled to the housing and can be freely positioned at least within one region of the interior. A second lighting arrangement has a housing having an interior and a light outlet region, the housing having an opening, which is set up to guide at least one line through the opening out of the interior. The second lighting arrangement has at least one brush, which is provided with hairs or fibres or bristles, which are arranged in the opening and/or cover the opening at least in portions.

LIGHTING DEVICE

A lighting device includes: a first board and a second board; a first light-emitting element mounted on the first board; a second light-emitting element mounted on the second board; and a base member including a first attachment face to which the first board is attached; and a second attachment face to which the second board is attached. As the lighting device is viewed from a light-emitting side, the first attachment face is disposed in front of the second attachment face. The second attachment face has an overlap area in which the second attachment face overlaps the first attachment face. The second light-emitting element is disposed in an area of the second attachment face different from the overlap area.

LUMINAIRE, ESPECIALLY FOR ROAD LIGHTING

The invention provides a luminaire for illuminating a road, comprising a light source (10), a reflector arrangement (12) defining a light entrance window (18) at the top to which light is supplied by the light source (10) and a larger light exit window (20) at the bottom, and an optical plate (22) over the light exit window (20). The optical plate (22) comprises an array of elongate prisms which each extend in a side-to-side direction corresponding to the width direction of the road. The reflector (12) is primarily responsible for control of the light output in the road width direction and the optical plate (22) is primarily responsible for control of the light output in the road length direction.

LIGHTING MODULE FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE

A luminous module for an automotive vehicle, including at least one light source each associated with a light-entrance member of a primary optical component that is placed facing a projecting secondary optical component formed by a mirror. The module has three surfaces for treating the geometric aberration of the light rays, two of which are borne by the primary optical component. The exit face of the light-entrance member is placed in a plane coincident with an object focal plane of the projecting system formed by the primary and secondary optical components.

A lighting apparatus includes: a projection lens; a light source behind the projection lens; a reflector that reflects light from the light source toward the projection lens; and a shield that blocks a portion of the light reflected by the reflector to form a cutoff line in a distribution pattern of the light. A textured section demarcated by unit regions is formed on a surface of the projection lens, and when a region in a center of the projection lens is defined as a central region, and regions left and right of the central region are defined as left and right regions, respectively, in a front view, a proportion of the unit regions in the central region is greater than a proportion of the unit regions in each of the left region and the right region.

LIGHTING DEVICE FOR A SHEET METAL AND SYSTEM HAVING THE SAME

A lighting device for a sheet metal is provided, for emitting lights on a sheet metal. The lighting device includes: a bottom plate; a wireless remote module, including a signal receiver for receiving a wireless control signal; a plurality of lighting modules, for emitting a plurality of light colors; a cover body, covering the lighting modules and including a light translucent portion and a light opaque portion. The wireless remote module controls the lighting modules to emit light. The light from the lighting modules goes through the light translucent portion and projects a projection boundary defined by a common boundary constructed by the light translucent portion and the light opaque portion on the sheet metal. A lighting system for a sheet metal is also provided, including the lighting device described above and a support device. The lighting device is adjustably assembled with the support device.

LIGHTING ASSEMBLY

A modular lighting assembly uses LED banks as the light sources. The assembly allows the power supply and LED banks to be independently replaced. The assembly uses a power supply that is separated from the LED banks and electrically connected to the LED banks with a plug connector that may be unplugged and plugged back in to allow the power supply or LED bank to be independently and readily replaced. The assembly provides for easy replacement of the different components of the assembly. One feature that makes the components easier to replace is that the light modules and/or the power supply may be carried by the housing that is removable from the base mount that is secured to a mounting structure such as a wall or ceiling.

CONFORMAL COATED LIGHTING OR LUMINATION SYSTEM

The present invention is related to a lighting device (100, 200, 300) and to a method for manufacturing such lighting device (100, 200, 300). A template (102) is provided having cavities (104) distributed across the template (102). The cavities (104) define mounting positions for a plurality of light source packages (110) each comprising a light source (112). The shape of the cavities matches the shape of the light source packages (110) such that the light source packages (110) have a limited number of possible mounting configurations in the cavities (104). Subsequently electrical conductors (122) are applied on a top surface of the template (102) for contacting electrodes of the light source packages (110). The light source packages (110, 208, 300) or the plurality of cavities comprise a reflective bottom layer (132, 220) and a light emitting surface of the light source (112, 210) faces the reflective bottom layer (132, 220).

Linkable Lighting Systems

An LED linkable light system including LED light assemblies having LED light fixtures which are linkable together to enable linked individual LED lights to be turned on or off individually or together. Any number of LED linkable light fixtures can be linked together, and electricity is provided by a power cord being linked to one of the linked LED light fixtures and to a power source. A motion sensing lighting device includes a base seat, an illuminating assembly, and a sensing component. The base seat has a pivotal portion. Announcing (2) Small-Class Lighting Workshops Baltimore / Washington, DC Area, Dec. 6 and 7



UPDATE: Both workshops filled very quickly. I only do these about once a year; apologies for the imbalance. I have set up a system so people who are potentially interested in future small-class lighting workshops can receive advance notice. More info here.

I'll be teaching two, full-day lighting workshops in the suburban Baltimore/DC area on December 6 and 7.

They are two separate one-day events. These are small-group workshops, with a maximum class size of 12 people each day. These are shooting workshops, and you'll be behind (and/or in front of!) a camera for most of the day.

Assuming you arrive at this class with a basic understanding of f/stops and shutter speeds, you will leave with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of off-camera lighting. You will be comfortable using single and multiple lights both alone and/or balanced with a mix of ambient lighting.

All lighting gear will be provided. We will also provide lunch.

You will need to bring a camera that is adjustable in manual mode and has a hot shoe connection for a flash, a lens that covers normal and/or portrait range, one or two fully charged batteries and an empty storage card. Maybe a notebook and pen if you like.

That's it. Just show up ready to learn and to have fun. Leave the rest to me.

I very much enjoy teaching small-class lighting workshops. But because of time constraints they only happen about once or twice a year.

When workshops do open up, they fill very quickly — often before many people even know they were available. So I have decided to create an interest list to help make notification of an upcoming workshop a much fairer process.


About the Classes

Strobist® Lighting Workshops are held as both single- an multi-day events. They have small class sizes and feature lots of time behind the camera. In the longstanding tradition of Strobist.com, our goal is to deliver as much value and knowledge as possible while keeping the costs economically accessible.

We work in an environment of rotating small teams, with lots of one-to-one instruction. We have fun, and I can guarantee you'll have a solid understanding of lighting principles before you leave. Or I won't let you leave.



Single day workshops are usually held near my home base in the Baltimore/Washington area, but are occasionally held elsewhere. That is why I am also collecting geo-information, so I can notify people if a one-day workshop would be occurring near their home.

Extended lighting workshops (usually 2-3 days in length) are generally held in an area that is both economically accessible, and very much worth the trip. Because if you are going to travel for something like this, why not go to a cool destination?

The goal for multi-day workshops is a fast-paced/fun/firehose weekend, in a fantastic setting, while working to keep everything to a manageable cost.

Trump Signs Executive Order Greenlighting 'Corporate Takeover Of Oceans'

Donald Trump issued an executive order late Thursday that environmentalists warned will accelerate the corporate exploitation of oceans by relaxing regulations on and streamlining the construction of industrial offshore aquaculture facilities, which critics deride as "floating factory farms" that pump pollution and diseases into public waters.

The Don't Cage Our Ocean Coalition, which was formed to oppose ocean industrial fish farming, said in a statement that Trump's Executive Order on Promoting American Seafood Competitiveness and Economic Growth "mandates federal agencies to craft a program for rapid authorization of industrial offshore aquaculture facilities, which use giant floating cages to cultivate finfish, allowing toxic pollution to flow into open waters."

Siemens to acquire smart lighting control company Enlighted Inc. for an undisclosed sum

Siemens Building Technologies division announced it will acquire Enlighted Inc., a smart IoT building technology provider. The transaction is expected to close in Q3’18.

Enlighted Inc.’s core element is an advanced lighting control application. It is based on a patented, software-defined smart sensor that collects and monitors real-time occupancy, light levels, temperatures and energy usage.

The sensor can gauge temperature, light level, motion, energy, and has Bluetooth connectivity.

The Enlighted Micro Sensor

The Enlighted system works by collecting temperature, light and motion data via its smart sensors. A gateway device carries the information to Energy Manager, a secure browser-based interface to create profiles and adjust settings of the entire Enlighted Advanced Lighting Control System. The Energy manager operates as an analytics device.

The whole system consists of multi-function sensors, distributed computing, a network, and software applications run by Enlighted Inc.
