emotional Kapoors perform emotional Ganesh aarti for final time at R.K Studios By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 15 Sep 2018 01:55:31 GMT The 'late' patriarch 'showman' Raj Kapoor's guru-mantra, 'the show must go on' continues to inspire his three illustrious actor-director sons Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv Kapoor. On Thursday, at the legendary R K Studios at Chembur, on Ganeshotsav following an elaborate Pujan, the sacred Ganesh aarti was performed by Randhir, Rajiv and 'nonagenarian' actor Vishwa Mehra (popularly called 'Mamaji' who was very close to Raj-saab and his family) late afternoon at 3.30 pm. The Ganeshotsav at R K Studios assumed extra-sentimental significance this year, because the iconic studio-property has been put up for sale. If the realty deal goes through, this could possibly be their last obeisance within their hallowed studio premises, witness to glorious cinematic history. It was an emotionally overwhelming moment for the Kapoors and the large number of guest-devotees when 'Mamaji', 92, broke down while performing the aarti. Rajiv spontaneously assisted 'Mamaji'. Rajiv and Randhir Kapoor with guests and staffers at the aarti The loyalist said, "It was 63 years ago that the first Ganeshotsav was held at RK and I have been with Raj Kapoor-saab even prior to that. The golden era I spent with creative genius Raj-saab, all his buddies and his technical crew flashed in my mind, from the time we shot 'Awara' (1951) in RK studios. Suddenly, I realised that none of those senior talented masters are alive and I was perhaps the odd surviving man out." Where's Rishi?Conspicuous by his absence was charismatic Rishi Kapoor, a staunch Ganesh-bhakt. He has his own Ganapati idol at his Pali Hill home. Rishi said, "Unfortunately, owing to some prior commitment, I just could not make it. But the very next day [Friday morning] I went for Ganesh darshan at RK." Tradition to continueA sentimental Randhir said, "As long as the studios are there, the ceremony will exist, Whenever we shift to another location and office premises, the annual Ganeshotsav tradition will continue. We share a divine bonding with Lord Ganesha. We were compelled to sell the studios, as we were incurring huge losses. Especially after the devastating fire that broke out at RK, it was just not economically viable to reconstruct it. Film folk were also reluctant to travel all the way to Chembur," he finished. emotional COVID-19: Indian sports psychologists working on emotional vulnerability By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 15 Apr 2020 02:55:49 GMT Uncertainty is so intrinsic to sports that elite athletes will not have much trouble coping up with a pandemic-forced lockdown, feel India's top sports psychologists as they become a part of their journey into an unchartered territory. Rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted minds as much as health and productivity, sports pyshologists Dr Chaitanya Sridhar, Nanaki J Chadha, and Keerthana Swaminathan are dealing with athletes across disciplines and economic spectrum, being their "sounding board, friend" and enabling them to process the magnitude of the situation. "When you are dealing with athletes, you can broadly divide them in three categories—the elite, the ones who are at national level aspiring to make it and the next group is academy bunch. The reaction to lockdown will be different," said Dr Sridhar, who is associated with JSW Sports and has worked with GoSports Foundation and IPL franchise RCB. For performance analyst and sports psychologist Nanaki, this is the time when "you help them steer clear of negative thoughts." For Keerthana, there is light at the end of the tunnel where a lot of athletes, who probably had injuries or may have been going through slump in form, get a chance to "recuperate both physically and emotionally" in the time away from sport. But yes, there is also the disappointed lot, which was hitting the peak in what was to be an Olympic year. "As a psychologist, it breaks my heart to see those who were really peaking before the big tournament. They are the ones likely to be disappointed more. But I am a big believer in Rahul Dravid's statement: 'Control the controllables'." Catch up on all the latest sports news and updates here. I would see him more often after , at RK Studios, when he trained as an actor for his film to be made, BOBBY .. a diligent enthusiastic youngster, ready to pounce onto every learning that came his way, in that famous large and legendary make up room, of Raj ji at the end of the first floor corridor of make up rooms .. He had a walk that was confident and determined .. a stride and style that was similar to that of his grandfather, the legendary Prithvi Raj ji .. a walk I had noticed in one of his earlier films .. that walk .. I never found it in any other .. We worked in several films together .. emotional Gulshan Grover gets emotional as he remembers his journey with friend Rishi Kapoor By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 7 May 2020 02:40:41 GMT The Bad Man of Bollywood, Gulshan Grover, who was also a good friend to Rishi Kapoor, shared how his journey in the world of showbiz along with the veteran has been a memorable one! Rishi Kapoor left behind a legacy after passing away. In an interview with Times Of India, Gulshan Grover got emotional as he remembered his dear friend Rishi Kapoor, who died on April 30, 2020, after battling leukaemia. The actor spoke at large about his early days, how Rishi Kapoor helped him make his place in the industry, and also, how Chintuji will always be a special friend to him. Gulshan Grover mentioned how Rishi played an important figure in his life. "I worked with him when I was new in the industry. I did a film titled, 'Hawalaat' which starred Rishi Kapoor along with Mithun Chakraborty and Shatrughan Sinha. I knew Mithun Chakraborty from my acting institute days where he was our teacher. He used to teach us acting and a subject called, 'Movement' where we had to express music without dancing through our expressions and without any words. I did not know Rishi Kapoor at all. I was quite intimidated." Speaking about his generosity, Gulshan Grover shared how Rishi Kapoor didn't charge a single penny for a cameo in his first web feature Bad Man. "When I was doing India's first web feature film called Bad Man, the producers suggested me to ask Rishi Kapoor if he will play a special cameo in the movie where he will be himself. They did not have the budget to get him on board so they asked me to ask him. I called him up and went to meet him. I asked him about the film and he told me to ask the director Soumik Sen to meet him. Later, they both called me up to say that Rishi ji will be doing the part and that too without charging anything. And he shot for it the next day itself in a studio." Gulshan Grover had also asked Rishi Kapoor to unveil one of the most important chapters of his life, his autobiography, titled The Bad Man. Despite not being in great condition, Rishi Kapoor agreed to help his friend. Sharing this incident, Gulshan Grover said, "When I was about to release my autobiography in the US in front of the media, I was asked to get Rishi ji to come for it as people there loved him and it would have given me and my book more weightage." The actor further added, "When I hesitantly asked Rishi ji, he replied by saying 'although I have been advised not to go to public places, for you, my friend, I will do it'. However, on the day of the event, he messaged me saying he had been called to the hospital for a blood transfusion. And he added that he didn't know when they will leave him and what condition he will be in after the process. My heart sank as I had promised everybody and it was all over the media. He told me not to worry and that he shall be there." Rishi Kapoor is indeed being missed by family, friends and his fans across the world!
