pp 'Our eyes met and love happened...' By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 30 Mar 2016 00:30:57 GMT Dear Diana,A few days ago, I was at a ice lolly stall in my neighbourhood. It was late afternoon and the heat had got to me. I ordered for a lime lolly. As I waited for my order, I saw this girl at the cart. In a second, I felt attracted to her. I kept looking at her. Realising it, she felt conscious and moved away. She was with her friends and we kept looking at each other. When they left, I tailed them till they entered a housing complex in the vicinity. Ever since, I have been going to the ice lolly cart every other day hoping to see her again. This girl haunts me. How do I know who she is? I think she is the girl for me. I have been visiting the ice lolly and juice centre at different timings, but to no avail. How do I know where exactly she lives? Thanks to my frequent trips to the centre, the attendants have realised what is on my mind. One of the extra friendly guys at the cart tells me she does visit regularly, but our paths have not crossed.— Vickrant Illustration/Uday Mohite Dear Vickrant,You may feel it is love at first sight, but you don't know who she is. Nor are you aware what is on her mind. Just because your eyes met does not mean anything. Like you, she must have been parched and looking for a quencher. By landing at the ice lolly and juice centre all the time, you sure are giving good business to them. Instead of planning a future with the girl, try to find out who she is. If you feel she is a regular at the outlet, you can find out from the attendant, who you have befriended, around what time she usually frequents the place. But do not stalk her or you will get into trouble. The next time you see her, smile and then, may be, start a conversation. Full Article
pp 'I bumped into my ex at a shopping mall...' By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 02 Apr 2016 02:25:35 GMT Dear Diana,I was in a relationship with a girl for four years before we parted ways three years ago. Our break up was quite bitter and obviously we never tried contacting each other after that. Last week, I bumped into her at a shopping mall. I was with my girlfriend and she was with a guy too, but I don’t know if he was her boyfriend. We were in the same store and happened to cross paths. We smiled at each other, but didn’t talk. Now, just seeing her brought back so many memories. I have never had the same emotional connection I had with her and I can’t stop thinking about her. I don’t know if it’s love or just nostalgia, but I can’t get her out of my head. I have been having constant fights with my current girlfriend because she can sense that something is amiss. Please help.— Abhinav Illustrastion/Uday Mohite Dear Abhinav,Bumping into an ex can get very awkward, but the fact that you can’t stop thinking about her even after just seeing her means that you still have feelings for her. If you were in love with your current girlfriend, meeting your ex flame would have meant nothing to you. So, I feel you should first understand that yourself. Then, talk to your present girlfriend about your feelings because you do owe an explanation to her. Even if both of you decide to take a break or call it off, it will only be for the better. Now, as far as your ex-girlfriend is concerned, try and figure out if she also has feelings for you. There is no point going after her if she is not on the same page as you. Best of luck! pp Christmas 2017: The Dapper Guide for men By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 24 Dec 2017 03:32:16 GMT We know it's the ladies who are all about 'what to wear for that New Year's eve party?', but the gentlemen need to clean up too, right? If you are wondering whether to go all-out formal or casual chic, let's help you out. Here are looks - made up of smart basics and separates, as well as standout pieces - that will set you up for that once-in-a-year party. Pic/Pradeep Dhivar A Timeless CombinationAkshay Tejwani in HP Su MisuraRiaan says: Men love blues, no matter what anyone may say. Blue is the new black, the fashion experts will tell you. And for that very reason, we picked a classic navy suit and white shirt. You can't go wrong with these colours and a well-tailored suit will see you through a New Year's eve party quite effortlessly as it is simple yet sharp. Note, however, that the cut has to be impeccable. For this particular look, dress it down a bit and not use a tie, to keep it a bit easier. That said, I did add a pocket square to add a dash of colour and break the monotony of the suit jacket. Elegance with restraint is a good idea. Pic/Bipin Kokate The Edgy LookChirag Sachanandani in Celio Riaan says: Possibly, one of the most indispensable pieces of the season, the bomber has been lauded as a layering essential in every man's wardrobe. People living in warmer places need not worry because these days, there are lighter variations available, even in cotton and linen. Pair the bomber over distressed jeans to give it a nice rugged flavour. Under the bomber, add a bit of a geeky detail, like a Star Wars tee. In keeping with current trends, pair the look with chic white sneakers, as opposed to boots or suede lace-ups, which are a more traditional option. Pic/Pradeep Dhivar Full-Out FormalMohit Sirothiya in Monsieur MRiaan says: For our three-piece suit, we chose a grey and not a blue, which is common. This suit features an elegant notch lapel, with black satin piping detailing, to highlight the sharpness of the notch point. The notch point complements the jawline and neck alignment. The waistcoat has a wide neck to provide a stronger chest structure. The fitted trousers with a narrow break helps tie in the look perfectly. Pic/Pradeep Dhivar The Quintessential DandyAkshay Tejwani in HP Su MisuraRiaan says: This look is perfect for a modern guy who does not hesitate to experiment with colour, texture and patterns. It is what the Italians like to call spezzato, which literally translates to using different statement separates in one look. Mix and match starting with a blazer featuring grey checks. To complement the checked blazer, paired with a tailored black shirt and paired it with slim-fit navy chinos. Keep the other elements of the look simple in order to let the blazer stand out. While the colour palette remains simple, it certainly makes a bold statement. Pic/Bipin Kokate Casual ChicChirag Sachanandani in Celio Riaan says: This look is perfect for a holiday party with friends. Nothing says casual elegance quite like the classic shirt and pullover combination. The idea is to let the collar peek out of the cardigan to break the monotony of colour. Pair a classic white Oxford shirt with a bright red cardigan. And since beige chinos are always stylish, add them to the look. The white and red, toned down by the beige chinos make it so effortless. Finally, to keep it cool and upbeat, opt for white sneakers over leather shoes or lace-ups. Roll up the cuff of your chinos to show off some ankle. pp Mumbai Food: Hog out crisp fries dripping in BBQ and chocolate sauce By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 11 Sep 2017 10:49:02 GMT Peri Peri Twister. Pics/Sameer Markande The led lights fitted in 3D wall panels engulf The Pabulum (Latin: food) with a violet glow that spills on to the street. Standing next to a chemist and a stone's throw away from a farsan store, the QSR off SV Road in Santacruz, which promises 'fiery fries' and 'sexy shakes', resembles an alien spaceship. The counter has a slot that holds these BBQâÂÂÂÂCheese Fries served in a conical container Our analogy isn't far off the mark as we step in and overhear a middle-aged couple, curious to know what Nacho Fries and Cheesy Potato Twisters actually mean. A millennial helming the service station explains the dishes. He points to staffers working in a bot-like fashion, adding dollops of Mexican salsa to golden fries and slicing potatoes to create spirals on a stick in an open kitchen. The couple places the order and moves to one of the two dining counters in the space, launched last month by three foodpreneurs - 21-year-olds Himanshu Jain and Mayank Jain, and their friend Deepak Joshi, 26, who runs a catering business. A staffer preps the fries in the kitchen The menu is The J-meets-Keventers-meets-Irla's Twisted Potato. It features French fries served with a host of vegetarian toppings - from aioli garlic to tandoori mayo and Schezwan sauce. They also offer Jain fries made with raw banana. From blueberry and rose to popcorn and Parle G, an array of ingredients make their way into the shakes, along with four varieties of twisters. Death By Chocolate A-peeling twistWe begin with the Peri Peri Twister ('69), a 12-inch long tornado of spicy flavours. The potato spiral - deep-fried and crisp but non-greasy - is piped with a fiery, paprika-and-garlic infused mayonnaise instead of a powdered spice mix. This enhances the stick, where the mayo's slight tang balances the heat. We wash it down with Popcorn Caramel Shake ('149), a lip-smacking, creamy rendition of the munchie with just the right hint of burnt brown sugar. Popcorn Caramel Shake The BBQ Cheese Fries ('99) feature crisp-till-golden, starchy potato fries doused with a peppery, slightly sweet barbeque sauce with an oh-so-good smoked taste that balances the sharpness of the cheese sauce. Our friend remarks, "They are better than the ones at The J." The Poppers & Fries ('149) comprise three deep-fried cheese balls perched on a bed of fries, doused in chilli garlic sauce and mayonnaise. While the tangy-spicy sauces complement the dish, the poppers are underwhelming, and stodgy. Try a dessert fryHeading for a carb crash by now, we pick the apt climax - Death By Chocolate ('149). Coated with generous amounts of Nutella and chocolate sauce, the crisp, unsalted fries, topped with grated cheese, make for a great dessert. We exit with a promise to return, once we're cured of a potato hangover. pp Ramesh Sippy: One didn't need to direct Rishi Kapoor! By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 1 May 2020 01:35:31 GMT My first directorial venture Andaz [1971] was with Shammi Kapoor. A decade later, I made Shaan [1981] with Shashi Kapoor. Babita was introduced by my father [GP Sippy] opposite Rajesh Khanna in Raaz [1967]. I made Saagar [1985] with Rishi Kapoor, so my association with the Kapoors goes back a long way. My daughter, Sheena, was married to Shashi Kapoor's son, Kunal. We are related as well. How much closer can we get? I was in touch with Rishi but not as much as I should have been. I remember catching a play at the Royal Opera House with his brother Randhir Kapoor. After the show, we sat down to chat and Randhir called Rishi who was at that time seeking treatment in the US. Rishi was sounding fine and kept a positive front. We were happy to know that all was going well until this sudden turn of events. I was shocked to hear of his demise. We had heard that he had been hospitalised. The awful part is that because of COVID-19 and social distancing, we could not go to pay our last respects. I feel miserable about it. Ramesh Sippy I thought of making Saagar after Dimple Kapadia expressed her desire to make a comeback after marriage and motherhood. I sat with Javed Akhtar saab and discussed the script and spoke to Rishi. We decided to make it a love triangle and got Kamal Haasan on board. It was a lovely experience working with the three talented actors. Unfortunately, it wasn't a success when it released, but over time it lingered on and developed a cult following. Its songs are still a big draw. One didn't need to direct Rishi. He was such a consummate actor. Once the scenes were narrated to him, he understood it perfectly. He just needed to be ready and come on the set and perform the scene. I didn't have to say much to him about what to do and what not to do. We will miss presence but he will always be with us through his movies. Catch up on all the latest entertainment news and gossip here. Also, download the new mid-day Android and iOS apps. pp Juhi Chawla remembers Rishi Kapoor: Happiest set memories involve him By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 1 May 2020 01:37:35 GMT I worked with Chintuji in films like Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani, and Ghar Ki Izzat. As a newcomer, I would be in awe [of him]. An effortless actor, he would barely rehearse, but the director would always be happy with his first take. Though a little detached, he was always friendly. Chintuji [would arrive on set] at 10 am. He would often sit outdoors under a tree to have his make-up done. His make-up artiste, Shashi dada, would set out a neat table with the [products]. A tiny transistor radio would be turned on while the make-up was done. When done, Chintuji would impatiently pick up the sponge, rub it all over his face, and undo dada's effort, and then announce that he was ready. As time went by, and we worked on more films together, including Bol Radha Bol and Saajan Ka Ghar, Chintuji [and I] would play Scrabble on set. I played well, but he was too good, and would often beat me. Nonetheless, I kept trying to win! In September 2017, a charming script [of the upcoming film, Sharmaji Namkeen] was narrated to me. It was about a middle-aged gentleman called Sharmaji. I liked it immensely and found it amusing and heart-warming. It was tailor-made for Chintuji. Producer Honey Trehan wanted to hold a joint narration with the entire cast and crew. It seemed like a good ice-breaker. Chintuji was reluctant, but agreed, because he said Amitabh Bachchan would do such sessions often. He said [he'd leave early] too, however, when the reading began, it was so joyful that he stayed till the end, and was the last to leave. I last met Chintuji at HK hospital, where he had gone for a routine treatment, in early March. A few days ago, I thought I should check on him. I heard the news [of his passing] this morning, and was devastated. I have many happy memories of him, and have laughed so much on the sets with him. I am going to miss him very much. pp Salman Khan provides financial support to 45 vertically challenged artistes By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 2 May 2020 01:16:44 GMT Bollywood stars may have rallied behind daily-wage workers during the lockdown, but Pravin Rana, a vertically-challenged artiste, admits he had little hope of them coming to his aid. After all, for far too long, his community has been relegated to the fringes of the industry. However, he was in for a surprise — earlier this week, Salman Khan extended financial support to members of the All India Special Artistes Association (AISAA), a wing of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). "Nobody cares much for us, but Salman bhai stood by us during these trying times. We were surprised when we learnt that Rs 3,000 had been deposited into our accounts on Tuesday. No other actor has come forward to help us," says Rana, who worked alongside the superstar in Bharat (2019). "During the shoot too, he asked us to reach out to him when in need," he adds. Shameem Ahmed, a member of AISAA who also featured as one of the circus artistes in Bharat, adds that Khan has promised help in the coming months. "We don't get work on a daily basis. We are grateful to FWICE and Salman Khan for helping us with ration and financial help amid the lockdown. We have been told he will make a deposit next month, too." BN Tiwari, president, FWICE, informs that about 90 vertically challenged actors come under the purview of the association. "Almost 45 of them have received Salman's donation, the rest will get it in a few days," he says. Catch up on all the latest entertainment news and gossip here. pp Taapsee Pannu: Thappad would have run for three more weeks By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 4 May 2020 01:41:34 GMT Taapsee Pannu's Thappad won rave reviews on its release in the last week of February. Just as the film was gaining steam, the theatre lockdown brought its box-office run to a screeching halt. With the Anubhav Sinha-directed venture dropping online over the weekend, Pannu believes it has arrived at the right time, given the sharp spike in cases of domestic violence. "Thappad was in theatres for only two weeks, and its numbers were rising due to positive word-of-mouth. It would have run for another three weeks. But in March, COVID-19 was a far bigger crisis than the [box-office] numbers of any movie. Everyone associated with the film got their due, and now, it's out there for others to watch too," says the actor, who shone as Amrita, a doting wife who finds herself re-assessing her marriage after an episode of domestic violence. A still from Thappad By bringing powerful women-driven narratives to the screen, Pannu has built a loyal fan base over the past few years. But where audiences have hailed her for becoming the voice of the everyday woman, a section has labelled her 'feminazi', misreading her fight for women's rights as an attack on the opposite sex. "I don't understand the term 'feminazi', but most people around us don't even know what feminism means. It stands for equal opportunities. We have only started exploring the different shades of women and their heroism on screen. For decades, men have bashed up villains; nobody described them as 'male-Nazi'. Then why is Thappad or any film that champions a woman's right and asserts her existence seen as the work of a 'feminazi'? There needs to be equality even in these definitions, and artistes are working towards it." Catch up on all the latest entertainment news and gossip here. pp Paatal Lok Trailer: This seems to be an explosion waiting to happen By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 4 May 2020 18:05:00 GMT What is so fascinating about the world of crime that filmmakers keep exploring its grit and gore? And how does a filmmaker ensure he attempts to say something nobody has said before? Paatal Lok walks on a tight rope, a show that has been created by Sudip Sharma and produced by Anushka Sharma's Clean Slate Filmz. The ensemble is solid- Jaideep Ahlawat, Gul Panag, Abhishek Banerjee, Neeraj Kabi, and Vipin Sharma. The biggest surprise package seems to be Banerjee, who was only exploited for his comic chops but plays a dreaded gangster in this show. He has all the opportunity to explode with such a delicious character that seems to be menacing and merciless. And of course, the always reliable Ahlawat seems to be having the time of his life in such ferocious characters. Have a look at the trailer right here: The plot of four assassins arrested on the charges of attempting to eliminate a journalist sounds crackling, and so does the milieu, and so does the fact that Anushka Sharma proves why she's one of the most fearless and fascinating producers in the business currently. The trailer also indicates this isn't going to be an easy watch and echoes the same narrative that the production house adapted in Sharma's NH10. But it also seems to be a show that makes you want to discover its language at least once, even if you have seen the world and the people before, albeit differently yet similarly. Let the lawlessness take over on May 15! Talking about the show, Sudip Sharma stated, "Paatal Lok is every creator's dream. This is an Indian story at heart but with great global appeal thanks to the themes it portrays and the characters it presents. I am pleased that alongside Clean Slate Filmz, I get to make my digital debut on Amazon Prime Video, a global streaming service that is home to some of the best creators of our time, making award-winning content. I am positive Paatal Lok will keep viewers from around the world at the edge of their seats till the very end." Karnesh Sharma, Producer, Clean Slate Filmz, added, "It has been our consistent endeavor to disrupt Indian entertainment space with breakthrough content. This year, as Clean Slate Filmz completes 5 years, we are happy to announce our upcoming Amazon Original Series Paatal Lok, in association with Amazon Prime Video. The show has been a labor of love, and I hope audiences across the globe experience the same joy we did creating it!" Catch up on all the latest entertainment news and gossip here. pp Richa Chadha: Vulnerable need our support at this time By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 6 May 2020 01:31:18 GMT Richa Chadha admits it is hard to shake off the images of migrant workers walking along national highways, with little access to food or water, in their bid to reach home. The actor, who has consistently highlighted the plight of the daily-wage workers amid the lockdown, has now teamed up with Gandhi Peace Foundation to do her bit for the community. Chadha has contributed to the Delhi-based non-profit organisation to ensure that the workers, who have reached their hometowns in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, don't have to sleep on an empty stomach. "Besides lack of financial resources, people in villages are running short of essential supplies like pulses, cereals and greens. A large segment of labourers makes a living by working on other people's farms. Now that all work has been halted, they have no means of buying groceries. This is why I decided to team up with the Gandhi Peace Foundation, which has an outreach programme. The most vulnerable need our support at this time," says Chadha. Since its inception in 1958, the NGO has been working towards the upliftment of the underprivileged. While she has worked with them over the years, Chadha says she sought the organisation's help last month to provide essentials to a migrant worker's family that was stuck in Mumbai. "The family was living in the red zone and had no ration for a week. When I informed the NGO about them, it delivered food to them in a matter of hours." pp Tisca Chopra: Irrfan Khan stopped me from quitting By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 6 May 2020 05:46:25 GMT Actress Tisca Chopra worked with the late Irrfan Khan in the critically acclaimed film "Qissa" besides in TV projects. She says Irrfan pushed her in the right direction during her initial days of struggle. "As I was struggling in the nineties and feeling disheartened, I would say that I wanted to quit acting because there was nothing that I could get from here, especially substantial work that I was looking forward to. I remember Tishu (Tigmanshu Dhulia) and Irrfan were there, and Irrfan promptly said, 'dekh lo, kaise har maan rahi hai, acting chhod dena hai? Theek hai, chhod de, lekin yaad rakh, apne tarike se aage badhne ke liye, himmat chahiye hoti hai… guts chahiye, guts!'" Tisca recalled, speaking to IANS. According to the actress, Irrfan gave DVDs of films like "Bullets Over Broadway" and "Once Upon A Time In America" and it was like a task for her to watch and understand these films. Subsequently, Irrfan produced a segment of the TV show, "Star Bestsellers", titled "Hum Saath Saath Hain Kya?" that was written by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and directed by Dhulia. He cast Tisca in the segment. "He gave me the right kind of challenges for an actor to stay at my battle. Along with him, Tigmanshu and few more people gave me the scope to overall challenge the scene of entertainment. He was surely instrumental in my career," shared Tisca. Irrfan passed away on April 29 in Mumbai, at the age of 53, due to colon infection. While the sudden demise of the actor left the film industry shocked and sadden, Tisca said: "Now that few days have gone by, emotionally I am in a better stage. I am talking and thinking why so many people reacted to Irrfan's demise as a personal loss. I think, even if you do not know him personally, through his acting, he showed us expressions that we usually reserve for our family, friends and intimate people." She added: "As an actor he had the courage to show us that vulnerability. So even as an audience when you watch his film, through his performance you experience the story along with those characters. You, as an audience did not look at Irrfan, you looked with him at the world of that story. That is why it is intimate. That is why Irrfan belonged to his audience. That is why his demise is very personal to the audience. Of course, we are his close people! It is devastating for us." Catch up on all the latest entertainment news and gossip here. pp Leena Yadav: Rishi Kapoor was a natural actor, a happy man By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 6 May 2020 09:10:07 GMT Filmmaker Leena Yadav who directed the late actor Rishi Kapoor in "Rajma Chawal", recalls the actor as a "brutally honest" person driven by his passion for life. "The first time I went to meet him and told him my story idea, he asked me who else is there in the film. Then he started saying that I should make the film with stars so that it can get better mileage. He wasn't one of those actors who would think about just his character. He would think about how the overall story came out. The more he started explaining why he is not the right choice for the film, the more confident I became to make the film with him! Finally, he was like, 'theek hai, story suna hi do'. And he loved the story, so he came on board," Leena told IANS. According to the director, the actor held the experience of the great Kapoor lineage and at the same time the innocence and mood of a child. "I like people who are brutally honest; especially in an industry where people are mostly nice to each other for a reason. Rishi ji was a happy, delightful man with so much wisdom and he had the nature of an explorer. He would take a walk in the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk and talk to shopkeepers who have owned shops for say, 50 years. He would eat street food and tell all of us to try the same. He loved his food, loved his fans, loved talking about cinema! When you see Rishi Kapoor, you see passion," Leena added. The late actor had an image of being outspoken in public and that intimated many - at least, that was the overall impression. Leena disagrees. "He was moody but never intimidating. That is why he managed to work with all the newcomers in my film. I, as a film director, never see it as a problem if you come and tell me 'this scene is not going well,' directly. I rather find it easy to have a conversation then, in order to improve!" she said. By the time the film released, Kapoor was in New York for his cancer treatment. So, he could not join any special screening, including one that took place at BFI London Film Festival. "We used to send him small video clips of audience reactions and how people are talking about the film, so he was with us virtually through the journey of the film," Leena recalled. Asked how she would like to remember him, Leena replied: "He started his career at a point of time when in mainstream 'natural acting' was almost non-existent. He established that -- it was his style. A style that no one can copy because what he brought to the character was of his interpretation, based on his observation. I want to remember that natural actor, with a lot of passion and warmth in person -- a happy man!" Catch up on all the latest entertainment news and gossip here. pp COVID-19: Sonali Kulkarni makes an important appeal, says our fight is against the virus and not its victims By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 6 May 2020 09:16:07 GMT Noted actor Sonali Kulkarni known for lending support to social causes has raised her voice against the discrimination against COVID-19 positive patients across Maharashtra, through a video. There have been rising cases of COVID-19 positive or even suspected patients facing discrimination. Recently in Mumbai's Lalbaug area a 24-year-old photojournalist working with a Marathi newspaper was ostracised and verbally abused by his neighbours after he returned home from institutional isolation. The photojournalist had not even tested positive, however, since he was in close contact with two other photojournalists, who had tested positive, the BMC identified him as their high-risk contact and asked him to go to an isolation center on April 20. COVID-19 positive patients are also facing issues like their videos being circulated or their names being shared on Whatsapp groups. Health professionals including mental health experts are increasingly expressing concerns over the long-term psychological impact of this on patients and their families. Even Chief Minister Shri Uddhav Thackeray has been urging people to show support towards the COVID-19 patients as well as their families instead of stigmatising them. The 70-second video has been released by Mumbai based Waatavaran Foundation, and Jhatkaa.org who are working together in Maharashtra to create public awareness on COVID-19. The film has been conceptualised and executed by Goregaon based Geeta Singh and Avinash Kumar Singh of Turtle on a Hammock Films. Through this video, popular actor Sonali Kulkarni is seen encouraging and urging people to treat those suffering from COVID-19 with dignity and respecting their privacy. Have a look right here: View this post on Instagram It's a small effort but let's take it.. it's going to be our lifestyle to wear a mask.. just like that - let it be as normal to accept a covid recovered person in the society ð Wonderful initiative by @waatavaran ðÂÂÂÂÂÂð #विà¤ÂÂार_बदला_à¤ÂÂà¥ÂÂरà¥ÂÂनाला_हरवा A post shared by Sonali Kulkarni (@sonalikul) onMay 4, 2020 at 6:59am PDT "The unfortunate fact is that being COVID-19 positive seems nothing less than a crime as people think that if a person is tested positive for COVID-19 the person is a criminal. This is wrong and this mentality needs to change," says Sonali Kulkarni in the video. "Our fight is against the pandemic, not the people suffering from it," appeals Kulkarni. pp Swara Bhasker: Happily indulging in midnight feasts By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 8 May 2020 01:53:06 GMT With shutters across city gyms pulled down, Bollywood's top brass has returned to its nutrition manual to micromanage each calorie consumed, apart from attempting every iteration of body-weight workouts that can be fancied. But, Swara Bhasker has been unperturbed about weighing scale fluctuations as she happily indulges in copious amounts of carbs. "I have been utilising this time unproductively," she laughs, adding that the weight gain could well aid her for her next film, the Krishna Sen biopic, which sees her impersonate a woman who weds at least two women under the guise of being a man. "I have been eating carbs and sugar, and am taking to midnight junk-food indulgences. More than kilos, I must focus on adding muscle mass around my torso, shoulders, and arms. However, no one knows how long this lockdown will last. I suppose we'll start work by the end of this year." An array of developments led to filming being deferred from the close of 2019, when it was to initially set to roll. "First, our director was busy with projects. Then, we needed to spend time to crack a good script that we were satisfied with. And finally, I had to wrap up my acting commitments before jumping into this," says Bhasker, who is also co-producing the project. Unwilling to join the bandwagon, Bhasker isn't considering a direct-to-OTT release just yet. "We don't know what the world will look like after this pandemic ends. So let's wait and watch," she says, addressing the decision taken by several filmmakers to take the digital route. In the meantime, she is neck deep in work, trying to create a noteworthy script of a story that has piqued her interest. pp This is what happened when a guy touched Divyanka Tripathi inappropriately once By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 16 Apr 2020 05:03:00 GMT Sexual harassment at workplaces and in Bollywood has unfortunately been rampant for years. There are multiple names that have come out and shared their horrific and shocking stories. And the recent one is Divyanka Tripathi, who recalled an incident when a guy at a cinema hall touched her in an insolent manner. Talking to SpotBoyE, she recollected what exactly unfolded on that fateful day and how she reacted. She said, "It happened in one of the theatres, these were the days when tickets were sold in Black at single screens. So, there should be a lot of rush. I had gone to watch a film and was in the cue to buy tickets. There was this guy who was taking advantage of the crowd and touching me inappropriately." She added, "I lost my cool, held his hand, and of course, after that I slapped him hard and in no time public was all over him." pp Shefali Jariwala: Sidharth Shukla and I are cordial, would be happy if he and Shehnaaz Gill got married By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 20 Apr 2020 03:10:00 GMT Relationships in Tinsel Town can be very fragile. There are a lot of couples that got married and there are more couples that drifted apart due to irreparable differences. One of the couples is Shefali Jariwala and Sidharth Shukla. Shefali turned a lot of heads and made a lot of noise when she became the wild-card entry in Bigg Boss 13 last year, and her bonding with Shukla could clearly be seen. And speaking to BollywoodLife, she spilled the beans on her past and current relationship with the actor. She said, "See, initially we bonded and then we had a bad fight. After he came back from the secret room, our equation got better. Both of us are very logical people. Also, we have similar interests, we would talk about travel, space, bullet trains and what not. Even after we stopped dating, we were always cordial whenever we bumped into each other." And then, talking about his relationship with Shehnaaz Gill, she said, "See, that is my opinion of their equation from what I saw inside the house. Sidharth definitely cares for her but I did not find it a romantic equation per se. However, saying that, I would be happy if they indeed fell in love and got married. It would be great. It will be wonderful." Would you also like to see Shehnaaz and Sidharth tie the knot soon? Catch up on all the latest entertainment news and gossip here. pp Paras Chhabra on his baldness: Salman Khan supported me, asked me to meet a doctor By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 28 Apr 2020 06:23:27 GMT Pre-mature balding is something a lot of actors have dealt with in Bollywood, Television, and even the ordinary people. But given an actor is supposed to sell his face on the screen and is expected to look handsome and gorgeous all the time, he is often under the radar of the media and the social media. So when Bigg Boss fame Paras Chhabra began losing his hair, he wasn't sulking but accepted the truth. Talking about it to Times of India in a recent interview, he said, "You cannot run away from reality. I spoke about my hair patches and stammering myself because there was nothing to hide. I have been doing modelling for many years now and because of the harsh lights, your hair actually get scanty. I felt that it didn't look nice especially for the kind of roles I was doing." He added, "I was playing Duryodhan and the mukut was very heavy and due to this I started going through hair loss. And at times being an actor when you want to get a good physique and want to see faster results, you take steroids too as a result there can be scanty hair." He also spoke about how Salman Khan came out in his support and what advice he gave him at that time. Speaking about the actor, Paras said, "Salman Khan sir supported me and he also said that he will give me a number and asked me to go and meet a doctor. On the final day of Bigg Boss, he also told me that the patch is hardly visible. Salman Khan sir has supported me in this too. He had asked me to wait and not rush. A few doctors in my family have asked me to go for hair weaving but I don't want to go under the knife right now." This is truly inspiring how an actor is comfortable about his body and refuses to change the truth about him. Hope others take notes! Catch up on all the latest entertainment news and gossip here.
