The Science Museum is presenting the special Unlocking the Secrets - The Science of Conservation at The Palace Museum exhibition to tie in with the 600th anniversary of the Forbidden City in 2020.

More than 100 artefacts from the Palace Museum collection are being showcased to highlight the application of science and technology in conservation.

They include bronzes, clocks, textiles, thangkas, wood furniture, lacquerware and inlaid works along with ceramics, calligraphy and hand-painted copies of ancient paintings.

The show also presents the Conservation Office’s work by showcasing intriguing restoration cases so that visitors can learn more about the work and skills of conservators as well as their mission to preserve Hong Kong’s heritage assets.

The Science Museum will launch a series of interactive family activities, including demonstrations and workshops conducted by Palace Museum conservators, guided tours featuring theatrical plays and storytelling, and visits to conservation laboratories.

Jointly presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department and the Palace Museum, the exhibition will run until March 18 next year.

HP LoadRunner lrFileIOService ActiveX WriteFileString Remote Code Execution

This Metasploit module exploits a vulnerability on the lrFileIOService ActiveX, as installed with HP LoadRunner 11.50. The vulnerability exists in the WriteFileString method, which allow the user to write arbitrary files. It's abused to drop a payload embedded in a dll, which is later loaded through the Init() method from the lrMdrvService control, by abusing an insecure LoadLibrary call. This Metasploit module has been tested successfully on IE8 on Windows XP. Virtualization based on the Low Integrity Process, on Windows Vista and 7, will stop this module because the DLL will be dropped to a virtualized folder, which isn't used by LoadLibrary.

Thiostrepton Reactivates Latent HIV-1 through the p-TEFb and NF-{kappa}B Pathways Mediated by Heat Shock Response [Antiviral Agents]

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) suppresses HIV-1 replication but fails to cure the infection. The presence of an extremely stable viral latent reservoir, primarily in resting memory CD4+ T cells, remains a major obstacle to viral eradication. The "shock and kill" strategy targets these latently infected cells and boosts immune recognition and clearance, and thus, it is a promising approach for an HIV-1 functional cure. Although some latency-reversing agents (LRAs) have been reported, no apparent clinical progress has been made, so it is still vital to seek novel and effective LRAs. Here, we report that thiostrepton (TSR), a proteasome inhibitor, reactivates latent HIV-1 effectively in cellular models and in primary CD4+ T cells from ART-suppressed individuals ex vivo. TSR does not induce global T cell activation, severe cytotoxicity, or CD8+ T cell dysfunction, making it a prospective LRA candidate. We also observed a significant synergistic effect of reactivation when TSR was combined with JQ1, prostratin, or bryostatin-1. Interestingly, six TSR analogues also show reactivation abilities that are similar to or more effective than that of TSR. We further verified that TSR upregulated expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs) in CD4+ T cells, which subsequently activated positive transcriptional elongation factor b (p-TEFb) and NF-B signals, leading to viral reactivation. In summary, we identify TSR as a novel LRA which could have important significance for applications to an HIV-1 functional cure in the future.

Jessie J tells ex-boyfriend Channing Tatum: She's 'Grateful' they met in a heartfelt birthday message

English singer-songwriter Jessie J remembered her ex-boyfriend Channing Tatum on his 40th birthday on Sunday, telling him he's "truly one of a kind."

The 32-year-old singer took to Instagram and shared a throwback picture featuring the 'Magic Mike' actor standing in clear blue ocean water. She captioned a throwback photo on her Instagram Stories, "Happy 40th Birthday to this special man right here. You are truly one of a kind. I am so grateful you were born, and even more grateful we met."

Jessie also shared another black-and-white photo of the '22 Jump Street' star in motorcycle gear as he holds a helmet. And posted a video of Tatum taking a leap into the water. "Keep living your BEST life!" the 'Nobody's Perfect' singer wrote.

These sweet messages came by the songstress in less than a month after the pair called it quits on their on-again relationship. Jessie and Tatum had reconciled in January after splitting a month earlier.

At the time, an insider to the outlet told that the couple had worked hard to re-establish their relationship but realised that they were better off as friends.

In October 2018, the outlet broke that the 'Step Up' star and the 'Nobody's perfect' singer had been quietly dating for a couple of months.

The pair connected shortly after Tatum and Jenna Dewan announced their separation in April 2018 after nine years of marriage. The exes, whose divorce was finalised earlier this year, share daughter 6-year-old daughter Everly (Dewan has since moved on with Broadway star Steve Kazee. They got engaged in February 2020 and welcomed son Callum the following month.)

Jessie and Tatum were supportive of each other throughout their relationship, with the actor attending several of her concerts, while she cheered him on at the opening night of his 'Magic Mike' show in London in November 2018.
