A lockable utility box lid includes at least one aperture therethrough for receiving a fastener. The locking mechanism preferably includes a utility box engagement member coupled to the underside of the utility box lid. The locking mechanism is movable between a locked and unlocked position. A fastener extends through the opening in the utility box lid and engages the locking mechanism. Rotating the fastener in a first direction causes the locking mechanism to assume a first, locked position. Rotating the fastener in a second direction causes the locking mechanism to assume a second, unlocked position. In the locked position the utility box engagement member is engaged with an interior surface of the utility box lid.

The unique element of this tackle box can also be applied to a toolbox, sewing box, or any other type of utility box used for carrying various supplies. That unique element is the handle itself and the way that it automatically secures the top lid of the box when it's being carried and in the fact that the handle itself is attached to lower portion of the box and not attached to the lid, as is the case for most prior inventions that are similar. By attaching the handle to the lower portion of the box and not the lid, this invention solves the problem that occurs when the user commonly forgets to secure the lid (as required in prior related inventions with this design flaw) resulting in accidental spillage of its contents.

Certain example embodiments relate to a sliding window assembly (e.g., of the type found in utility cabs or other vehicles), and methods of making the same. A slidable window panel includes at least one top pin and at least one bottom pin attached thereto. A single fixed window panel includes a hole being defined therein for receiving the slidable panel. The channels in the forward and rear end details are formed so that the slidable panel is movable slightly outwardly towards the hole when the slidable window is being closed and slightly inwardly away from the hole when the slidable window is being opened.

A control system for automatically switching power between two separate light sources integrated with a welding shield pivotally mounted to an adjustable headband includes at least one magnetic positional switch attached to the headband having electrical communication with at least one battery and the light sources, and two magnetic positional sensors strategically mounted on the interior surface of the welding shield along a defined arcurate path of rotation of the shield about the headband.

A pole splint, generally for use with a broken wooden utility pole, which can provide for a strong repair at a pole breakpoint and which uses relatively little manpower and equipment to install, even under difficult conditions. The currently available therapeutic radiopharmaceutical for high-risk neuroblastoma, ¹³¹I-MIBG, is ineffective at targeting micrometastases due to the low linear energy transfer (LET) properties of high-energy beta particles. In contrast, Auger radiation has high-LET properties with nanometer ranges in tissue, efficiently causing DNA damage when emitted in close proximity to DNA. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxicity of targeted Auger therapy in pre-clinical models of high-risk neuroblastoma. Methods: Using a radiolabeled poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor, ¹²⁵I-KX1, we delivered an Auger emitter iodine-125 to PARP-1: a chromatin-binding enzyme overexpressed in neuroblastoma. In vitro cytotoxicity of ¹²⁵I-KX1 was assessed in nineteen neuroblastoma cell lines, followed by in-depth pharmacological analysis in a sensitive and resistant pair of cell lines. Immunofluorescence microscopy was used to characterize ¹²⁵I-KX1-induced DNA damage. Finally, in vitro/in vivo microdosimetry was modeled from experimentally derived pharmacological variables. Results: ¹²⁵I-KX1 was highly cytotoxic in vitro across a panel of neuroblastoma cell lines, directly causing double strand DNA breaks. Based on subcellular dosimetry, ¹²⁵I-KX1 was approximately twice as effective compared to ¹³¹I-KX1, whereas cytoplasmic ¹²⁵I-MIBG demonstrated low biological effectiveness. Despite the ability to deliver focused radiation dose to the cell nuclei, ¹²⁵I-KX1 remained less effective than its alpha-emitting analog ²¹¹At-MM4, and required significantly higher activity for equivalent in vivo efficacy based on tumor microdosimetry. Conclusion: Chromatin-targeted Auger therapy is lethal to high-risk neuroblastoma cells with potential use in micrometastatic disease. This study provides the first evidence for cellular lethality from a PARP-1 targeted Auger emitter, calling for further investigation into targeted Auger therapy.

Methods

Nutritional studies rely on various biological specimens for fatty acid (FA) determination, yet it is unclear how levels of serum non-esterified FA (NEFAs) correlate with other circulating lipid pools. Here, we used a high throughput method (< 4 min/sample) based on multisegment injection-non-aqueous-capillary electrophoresis–mass spectrometry (MSI-NACE-MS) to investigate whether specific serum NEFAs have utility as biomarkers of dietary fat intake in women. We first  identified circulating NEFAs correlated with long-term/habitual food intake among pregnant women with contrasting dietary patterns (n=50). Acute changes in serum NEFA trajectories were also studied in non-pregnant women (n=18) following high-dose (5 g/day) fish oil (FO) supplementation or isoenergetic sunflower oil placebo over 56 days. In the cross-sectional study, serum omega-3 (-3) FA correlated with self-reported total -3 daily intake, notably eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) as its NEFA (r=0.46; p=0.001), whereas pentadecanoic acid was associated with full-fat dairy intake (r=0.43; p=0.002), outcomes consistent with results from  total FA serum hydrolysates. In the intervention cohort, serum -3 NEFAs increased 2.5-fold from baseline within 28 days following FO supplementation, and this increase was most pronounced for EPA (p=0.0004). Unlike for docosahexaenoic acid, circulating EPA as its NEFA also strongly correlated to EPA concentrations measured from erythrocyte phospholipid hydrolysates (r=0.66; p=4.6 x 10-10), and was better suited to detect dietary non-adherence. We conclude that MSI-NACE-MS offers a rapid method to quantify serum NEFAs and objectively monitor dietary fat intake in women that is complementary to diet records or food frequency questionnaires.

Chromosomal microarray analysis offers a superior diagnostic yield over karyotyping for the evaluation of individuals with developmental disabilities. Many third-party payers, however, do not reimburse for microarray testing, citing a lack of evidence that patients benefit from testing.

This study demonstrates that microarray testing frequently identifies conditions that include features requiring specific medical follow-up and that referring physicians respond to abnormal test results with appropriate clinical actions. Microarray testing, therefore, provides direct benefits to patients. (Read the full article)

Routine screening of potentially abused children with hepatic transaminases has been recommended, using a threshold of 80 IU/L to determine the need for further testing, but practice is variable, and this threshold has not been validated.

Follow-up skeletal surveys are conducted commonly in children with suspected physical abuse, despite limited evidence. Different guidelines recommend follow-up skeletal surveys in children with abnormal initial skeletal surveys or in cases with high risk.

Across several centers, follow-up skeletal surveys revealed new information in >20% of cases and frequently affected the perceived likelihood of abuse, even in cases where the initial level of concern for abuse was moderate. (Read the full article)

Caregiver behavioral symptom ratings are frequently used to assist in diagnosing childhood behavioral disorders. Although behavioral disorders are highly comorbid with learning disabilities (LDs), little work has examined the utility of caregiver ratings of learning concerns for screening of comorbid LD.

The validity of a time- and cost-efficient caregiver rating of academic concerns (Colorado Learning Difficulties Questionnaire) was examined. The screening measure accurately predicted children without LD, suggesting that the absence of parent-reported difficulties may be adequate to rule out overt LD. (Read the full article)

Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction allows sensitive detection of respiratory viruses. The clinical significance of detection of specific viruses is not fully understood, however, and several viruses have been detected in the respiratory tract of asymptomatic children.

Our results indicate that quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction is limited at distinguishing acute infection from detection in asymptomatic children for rhinovirus, bocavirus, adenovirus, enterovirus, and coronavirus. (Read the full article)

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is associated with significant comorbidity: behavioral problems, sleepiness, and impaired quality of life. However, the utility of OSAS symptoms versus polysomnography in the prediction of comorbidities or response to treatment is not well known.

Among children with OSAS, the Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire, a well-validated, simple 1-page symptom inventory, predicts key adenotonsillectomy-responsive OSAS comorbidities and their improvement after adenotonsillectomy. In contrast, polysomnographic results do not offer similar predictive value. (Read the full article)
