That's down 59.8 cents from a year ago, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region are at $3.97 per gallon, up 3.3 cents from last week, but down 55.5 cents from a year ago.

The average retail price for home heating oil rose 6-tenths of a cent from last week to $4.00 per gallon. That's down 69.7 cents from a year ago, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region are at $3.98 per gallon, up 1.2 cents from last week, but down 64.1 cents from a year ago.

That's down 2.4 cents from the last week in March, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region were $3.98 per gallon, down 2.2 cents from March 25. Heating oil prices will be published monthly from April to September.

The average retail price for home heating oil on May 13 was $3.81 per gallon. That's down 20.4 cents from our last published price on April 8, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region were $3.78 per gallon, down 19.9 cents from April 8. Heating oil prices will be published monthly from April to September.

The average retail price for home heating oil on June 10 was $3.66 per gallon. That's down 14.3 cents from our last published price on May 13, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region were $3.62 per gallon, down 15.9 cents from May 13. Heating oil prices will be published monthly from April to September.

The average retail price for home heating oil on July 8 was $3.71 per gallon. That's up 4.8 cents from our last published price on June 10, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region were $3.66 per gallon, up 3.4 cents from June 10. Heating oil prices will be published monthly from April to September.

The average retail price for home heating oil on August 12 was $3.59 per gallon. That's down 12.1 cents from our last published price on July 8, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region were $3.52 per gallon, down 13.8 cents from July 8. Heating oil prices will be published monthly from April to September.

The average retail price for home heating oil on September 9 was $3.46 per gallon. That's down 13.3 cents from our last published price on August 12, based on the residential heating fuel survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Heating oil prices in the New England region were $3.41 per gallon, down 10.5 cents from August 12. Heating oil prices will be published monthly from April to September.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) will host a webinar on Wednesday, October 9, to discuss price, consumption, and expenditure trends for major heating fuels for U.S. households for the upcoming winter. EIA’s Winter Fuels Outlook includes U.S. national and regional forecasts for electric heat, natural gas, heating oil, and propane. We will publish the Winter Fuels Outlook forecasts on Tuesday, October 8, as part of the Short-Term Energy Outlook.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) expects most U.S. households, on average, will pay about the same to heat their homes as they did last winter. A notable exception is that EIA expects Midwestern homes heated by natural gas will pay about 11% more on average for heat than last winter.

A portable IR fiber laser-heating system, optimized for X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) and nuclear inelastic scattering (NIS) spectroscopy with signal collection through the radial opening of diamond anvil cells near 90°with respect to the incident X-ray beam, is presented. The system offers double-sided on-axis heating by a single laser source and zero attenuation of incoming X-rays other than by the high-pressure environment. A description of the system, which has been tested for pressures above 100 GPa and temperatures up to 3000 K, is given. The XES spectra of laser-heated Mg0.67Fe0.33O demonstrate the potential to map the iron spin state in the pressure–temperature range of the Earth's lower mantle, and the NIS spectra of laser-heated FeSi give access to the sound velocity of this candidate of a phase inside the Earth's core. This portable system represents one of the few bridges across the gap between laser heating and high-resolution X-ray spectroscopies with signal collection near 90°.

Denmark aims to develop an energy system based only on renewable energy sources by 2050. Energy saving buildings are an essential part of this plan, according to new research, which investigates how excess heat production from net zero energy buildings (NZEBs) can benefit district heating systems and reduce reliance on combustible fuels.

Implementing energy efficiency measures in existing housing stock could save 10% of current heating consumption by 2020 and 20% by 2030, according to a recent study of nine European countries. Planning authorities can play a major role by providing support and unbiased information to all stakeholders involved in the renovations.
