removing cdn_loop_breaker from the genus synthesis netlist

I am trying to remove the cdn_loop_breaker cells from the netlist.
When I tried the below 2 things, genus synthesis tool removing the cdn_loop_breaker cells but while connecting the cdn_loop_breaker cell input to its proper connection, its somehow misleading the connections

Things i tried:
1.  remove_cdn_loop_breaker -instances *cdn_loop_breaker*
then i just ran remove_cdn_loop_breaker  comand without the -instances switch
2. remove_cdn_loop_breaker

both of the above things are not providing the proper connections after removing the loop_breaker_cells

can anyone suggest the best possible workaround for this please?

Destructive form of "cons" - efficiently prepending an item to a procedure's argument which is a list

Hello,

I was looking to destructively and efficiently modify a list that was passed in as an argument to a procedure, by prepending an item to the list.

I noticed that cons lets you do this efficiently, but the operation is non-destructive. Hence this wouldn't work if you are trying to modify a function's list parameter in place.

Here is an example of trying to add "0" to the front of a list:

procedure( attempt_to_prepend_list(l elem)
    l = cons(elem l)
)
a = list(1 2 3)
==> (1 2 3)
attempt_to_prepend_list(a 0)
==> (0 1 2 3)
a
==> (1 2 3)
As we can see, the original list is not prepended.
Here is a function though which achieves the desired result while being efficient. Namely, the following function does not create any new lists and only uses fast methods like cons, rplacd, and rplaca
procedure( prepend_list(l elem)
    ; cons(car(l) cdr(l)) results in a new list with the car(l) duplicated
    ; we then replace the cdr of l so that we are now pointing to this new list
    rplacd(l cons(car(l) cdr(l)))

    ; we replace the previously duplicated car(l) with the element we want
    rplaca(l elem)
)
a = list(1 2 3)
==> (1 2 3)
prepend_list(a 0)
==> (0 1 2 3)
a
==> (0 1 2 3)
This works for me, but I find it surprising there is no built-in function to do this. Am I perhaps overlooking something in the documentation? I know that tconc is an efficient and destructive way to append items to the end of a list, but there isn't an equivalent for the front of the list?

Genus: Generated netlist doesn't define subckts

Dear all,

I'm trying to perform an LVS check using Calibre between a layout that was generated by Innovus and the initial netlist generated by Genus. However, once I hit Run LVS on Calibre, it reports the following warnings and recommends to stop the process:

Source netlist references but does not define more than 10 subckts:
DFD1BWP7T
DFKCND1BWP7T
DFKCNQD1BWP7T
DFKSND1BWP7T
DFQD1BWP7T
IND2D0BWP7T
INR2D0BWP7T
INVD0BWP7T
INVD2P5BWP7T
IOA21D0BWP7T
... (and more)

If I proceed the LVS process it shows lots of errors as shown in the following image:

Why Genus doesn't include the definition of those sub circuits in the generated netlist? Is this related to Flat/Hierarchy netlisting?

I have included my Genus scripts as well as the generated netlist in the attachments (and here - if attachment don't work).

Many thanks,

Anas

Netlisting error when doing parametric sweep on transient simulation

Dear all,

I defined two design variables in ADE Assembler, say V1 and V2, that define the voltage 1 and voltage 2 of a "vpulse" voltage source in my schematic.

Then, I define V1 = 1.0, and V2 = 2.0, run a transient simulation, and everything is as expexcted. The source provides pulses between 1.0 V and 2.0 V.

Next, I set V1 = 1.0:0.5:1.5, thereby creating a parametric sweep with 1.0 V and 1.5 V for V1. I keep V2 at 2.0 V. Then the simulation fails, and all I get is "netl err" in my Output Expressions and an error message that the results directory does not exist and nothing can be plotted: This is reasonable, as the results directory is deleted on starting a new simulation, and as there is no simulation result, none of my output expressions can be plotted.

WARNING (OCN-6040): The specified directory does not exist, or the directory does not contain valid PSF results.
        Ensure that the path to the directory is correct and the directory has a logFile and PSF result files.
WARNING (ADE-1065): No simulation results are available.
ERROR (WIA-1175): Cannot plot waveform signals because no waveform data is available for plotting.
One of the possible reasons can be that 'Save' check box for these signals are not selected in the Outputs Setup pane. Ensure that these check boxes are selected before you run the simulation.

Normally, this kind of para,metric sweep is not a problem, I have done this many times before. There must be something special in THIS PARTICULAR test bench or simulator setup. The trouble is, I don't get any useful error messages.

Does anyone know what might be the problem here OR where to find useful information to investigate further (log files stored somewhere)? Thank you!

Regards,

Volker

P.S. Using Corners instead does not help either. Running it through all values by hand works, though.

Jailed Swedish Eritrean journalist wins rights prize

stockholm — A Swedish Eritrean journalist held incommunicado without charge in Eritrea for more than 23 years won a Swedish rights prize on Monday for his fight for freedom of expression, the jury said. Dawit Isaak was among a group of around two dozen people, including senior cabinet ministers, members of parliament and independent journalists, who were seized in a purge in September 2001. He was awarded the Edelstam Prize "for his outstanding contribution and exceptional courage in standing up for freedom of expression, one's beliefs, and in the defense of human rights," the Edelstam Foundation said in a statement. Amnesty International considers Isaak a prisoner of conscience, and press freedom group Reporters Without Borders (RSF) says he and his colleagues detained at the same time are the longest-held journalists in the world. U.N. rights experts have demanded Asmara immediately release him. Eritrea has provided no news about him, and there are fears he may no longer even be alive. He would be 60 years old. His daughter Betlehem Isaak will accept the award on his behalf in Stockholm on November 19. Isaak fled to Sweden in 1987 during Eritrea's struggle against Ethiopia, which eventually led to independence in 1993. After obtaining Swedish citizenship, he returned to Eritrea in 2001 to help shape the media landscape, and co-founded Setit, the country's first independent newspaper. He was arrested shortly after the paper published articles demanding political reforms. Asmara has not provided any information about his whereabouts or health over the years, which U.N. experts in 2021 deemed "extremely concerning.” But they said a credible source had indicated Isaak was still alive in September 2020. The Edelstam Prize is awarded in memory of Swedish diplomat Harald Edelstam, who as ambassador to Chile at the time of Augusto Pinochet's 1973 military coup granted thousands of Chileans and other Latin Americans safe conduct to, and political asylum in, Sweden.

India asks states to consider setting up nuclear power plants, list power utilities

India’s federal power minister on Tuesday asked the states that are away from coal resources to consider setting up nuclear-based power plants, besides identifying and listing the power utilities to meet investments to support growing power demand.

The Indian government in its federal budget this year had proposed to partner with private players to develop small nuclear reactors to increase the amount of electricity from sources that do not produce carbon dioxide emissions.

States should consider setting up nuclear power plants at the sites where coal-based thermal power plants have completed their life, Manohar Lal, the country’s power minister, told states as per a government statement.

India’s stringent nuclear compensation laws have hampered talks with foreign power plant builders such as General Electric GE.N and Westinghouse.

The country, which currently has about 8 gigawatts of nuclear capacity, aims to increase it to 20 GW by 2032.

The minister also asked the states to identify and list their power utilities in the country’s stock exchange to meet increasing investment demand in the power sector as well as improve the transmission system to add more renewable capacity.

India has pledged to achieve a net zero carbon emission target by 2070 and has a target of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.

Probabilistic Presurgical Language fMRI Atlas of Patients with Brain Tumors [CLINICAL PRACTICE]

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:

Patients with brain tumors have high intersubject variation in putative language regions, which may limit the utility of straightforward application of healthy subject brain atlases in clinical scenarios. The purpose of this study was to develop a probabilistic functional brain atlas that consolidates language functional activations of sentence completion and Silent Word Generation language paradigms using a large sample of patients with brain tumors.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:

The atlas was developed using retrospectively collected fMRI data from patients with brain tumors who underwent their first standard-of-care presurgical language fMRI scan at our institution between July 18, 2015, and May 13, 2022. Three hundred seventeen patients (861 fMRI scans) were used to develop the language functional atlas. An independent presurgical language fMRI data set of 39 patients with brain tumors from a previous study was used to evaluate our atlas. Family-wise error–corrected binary functional activation maps from sentence completion, letter fluency, and category fluency presurgical fMRI were used to create probability overlap maps and pooled probabilistic overlap maps in Montreal Neurological Institute standard space. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to determine a significant difference in the maximum Dice coefficient for our atlas compared with a meta-analysis-based template with respect to expert-delineated primary language area activations.

RESULTS:

Probabilities of activating the left anterior primary language area and left posterior primary language area in the temporal lobe were 87.9% and 91.5%, respectively, for sentence completion, 88.5% and 74.2%, respectively, for letter fluency, and 83.6% and 67.6%, respectively, for category fluency. Maximum Dice coefficients for templates derived from our language atlas were significantly higher than the meta-analysis-based template in the left anterior primary language area (0.351 and 0.326, respectively, P < .05) and the left posterior primary language area in the temporal lobe (0.274 and 0.244, respectively, P < .005).

CONCLUSIONS:

Brain tumor patient- and paradigm-specific probabilistic language atlases were developed. These atlases had superior spatial agreement with fMRI activations in individual patients compared with the meta-analysis-based template.

Weight management with orlistat in type 2 diabetes: an electronic health records study

BackgroundOrlistat is recommended as an adjunct to diet and exercise for weight loss in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).AimTo explore associations between patient characteristics and orlistat prescribing, and to determine associations of orlistat with weight loss in T2DM and prediabetes.Design and settingCohort study using anonymised health records from a UK database of general practice.MethodThe UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) Aurum database was searched to compile a cohort of patients aged ≥18 years, first diagnosed with T2DM or prediabetes in 2016 or 2017. Once the data had been collated, multivariable logistic regression models were used to determine associations with starting orlistat and stopping it early (<12 weeks of prescriptions) and orlistat’s associations with weight loss in those who had not been prescribed second-line antidiabetic medications.ResultsOut of 100 552 patients with incident T2DM or prediabetes, 655 (0.8%) patients with T2DM and 128 (0.7%) patients with prediabetes were prescribed orlistat. Younger people, females, those in areas of deprivation, current smokers, those coprescribed metformin, and those recorded as having hypertension were statistically significantly more likely to be prescribed orlistat; higher baseline glycated haemoglobin levels were associated with early stopping. In comparison with patients not on orlistat, those who continued using it for ≥12 weeks were more likely to lose ≥5% weight (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 1.69, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.07 to 2.67) but those who stopped orlistat early were less likely to lose ≥5% weight (AOR 0.56, 95% CI = 0.29 to 1.09).ConclusionOrlistat was significantly associated with weight loss in patients with T2DM and prediabetes when taken for at least 12 weeks; however, it was infrequently prescribed and often taken for <12 weeks. Orlistat may be a useful adjunct to lifestyle modifications for patients with T2DM and prediabetes, but barriers to continued use means it may not be effective for everyone in managing weight loss.
