cl What is Article 13 and will it kill memes? | WIRED Explains By www.wired.com Published On :: Mon, 25 Mar 2019 05:24:23 +0000 The European Union Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market, to use its full name, requires the likes of YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to take more responsibility for copyrighted material being shared illegally on their platforms. It's become known by its most controversial segment, called Article 13, which critics claim will have a detrimental impact on creators online. YouTube, and YouTubers, have become the most vocal opponents of the proposal. But Article 13 and the Directive on Copyright isn’t law yet. It still has to go through a series of steps before it becomes finalised as an EU directive, and it's currently stalling as European Union member states can't agree on the final wording of the Directive. To help clear things up, here’s WIRED’s guide to the EU Directive on Copyright. cl Lucy Yu | Think like a human: Self-driving vehicles and the rules of the road By www.wired.com Published On :: Mon, 08 Jul 2019 11:41:20 +0000 Lucy Yu, Director of Public Policy at FiveAI, is focusing on how to translate the rules of the road – designed and written with human drivers in mind – to the language of computers. Autonomous vehicles may have better sensors than humans, but their ability to reason in ambiguous or new situations is limited. To codify the intuitions many humans rely on when driving, FiveAI starts by providing rules for the car to follow in the most standard conditions, then gives it experience in a controlled version of real world driving. cl World-class chef rates the best vegan burgers in the UK | On Location By www.wired.com Published On :: Mon, 19 Aug 2019 03:16:59 +0000 To find out how well the latest vegan burger offering fares from a professional point of view – and if they really do give actual meat a run for its money – we asked chef Marcus Samuelsson to put his tastebuds to task: with his mix of southern American, Ethiopian and Swedish food, Samuelsson knows what makes for a delicious burger. Samuelsson provided the menu for the Obama Administration’s first State dinner, had a three-star restaurant review from The New York Times at the age of 24, and owns a number of restaurants including Red Rooster – in both Harlem, New York, and Shoreditch, London – and, most recently, Marcus in Montreal, Canada. To give each of the seven vegan burgers in our test a fair start, we dressed each pattie with a tofu-based mayonnaise, vegan cheese, a slice of tomato, lettuce and red-onion dressing before topping it off with a vegan brioche bun. The testing took place in Samuelsson's Shoreditch-based restaurant Red Rooster at The Curtain Hotel. Only burgers available to buy in UK shops were eligible (sorry, no Impossible Burger yet). Here's our pick of the best vegan burgers you can buy right now. Read the guide on WIRED UK: https://www.wired.co.uk/article/best-vegan-burger-uk #vegan #veganburger #veganfood Full Article
