Safety enhanced design of rail type garage door opener with over the door drive assembly

A novel electric door opener for a garage, or equivalent structure, which uses a rail fixed at one end to a drive assembly and the other end to a mounting support, in which the drive assembly is mounted on the wall over the garage doorway with a pivotable mount, rather than the uniform practice wherein the drive assembly is suspended from the garage ceiling, thus significantly enhancing safety during installation and over the lifetime of the unit. In addition, the means whereby prior art rail type garage door openers, including their drive assemblies and overall mounting methods, are redesigned to reduce the invention to practice. The simplification of mounting hardware and process with this design makes it much easier and safer to install, remove, and replace an assembled rail type garage door opener, using only three removable pins.

In a sliding door with a door panel supported by a carriage disposed on a guide rail so as to foe movable between spaced door stops, the door stops include shock absorbers and the carriage has contact elements for contact with the shock absorbers. Sliding door and pivoting door for demountable wall system

A demountable modular wall system including a series of individual wall panels that can be positioned adjacent to each other. The demountable wall system includes a doorway defined by a pair of spaced vertical posts and a horizontal header. In one embodiment, a sliding glass door is movable along a sliding door track mounted to the horizontal header. A lower trim assembly mounted to the bottom end of the sliding glass door adjusts the overall height of the door. The doorway can also include a pivoting glass door. The pivoting glass door includes a bottom pivot assembly having a bottom clamp adjustably positioned along a bottom end of the pivoting glass door. The adjustable bottom clamp can be moved along the bottom end of the pivoting glass door and receives a pivot pin supported on the floor. A vehicle door structure that can improve an effect of insulating sounds that penetrate from a vehicle exterior into a vehicle cabin. A front side door to which a vehicle door structure is applied has, at a door main body that supports a door glass such that the door glass can be raised and lowered, a weatherstrip having a wall in which an opening is formed at a position facing the door glass, and a sealing lip that is disposed so as to project-out from the wall and slidingly contact the door glass. Further, a wall body that, together with the wall, forms a closed space that communicates with the opening is provided at a side of the wall opposite the door glass.

Seal with primary and secondary sealing lobes for use in roll-up door applications

A roll-up door seal that may be monolithically formed from a single material of uniform density. The seal is sized and adapted to assemble to a standard roll-up door frame without a separate or dedicated frame structure. The seal provides redundant sealing surfaces, positioned to cooperate with both the door and door frame, which ensure an effective and durable fluid tight seal between the cargo space enclosed by the roll-up door and the ambient environment. The seal may be produced by extrusion from a flexible, weather resistant material such as EPDM, thereby providing a low cost solution for sealing roll-up doors having industry standard door frame constructions. The seal is firmly engageable with the door frame, such that the seal may be installed with little or no secondary fixation.

A vehicle side window, composed of HPR laminated glazing or advanced ejection mitigating laminated glazing, is provided with an inverted U-shaped channel, bonded to its upper edge, and extending into side channels of the door frame. An automatic patio sliding door for residential (home) use is created using an existing motorized automatic system which is now in use in commercial, industrial, and public building entrances. A method incorporating a bracket system is used to apply the commercial (hanging track type) automatic door system to existing residential patio sliding doors or to new patio sliding doors. The purpose is to provide hands free opening and closing of patio glass or screen doors (single or double panels). This allows for ease of use of sliding doors when hands are full, guarantees the closing of screen doors or glass doors behind the person to prevent insects getting into the house or loss of air conditioning in the house, and provides an easy access door system in the home for the physically handicapped.

SORBENTS FOR CARBON DIOXIDE REDUCTION FROM INDOOR AIR

A sorbent for CO2 reduction from indoor air from an enclosed space. In some embodiments, the sorbent comprises a solid support and an amine-based compound being supported by the support. The sorbent captures at least a portion of the CO2 within the indoor air. The sorbent may be regenerated by streaming outdoor air through the sorbent to release at least a portion of the captured CO2. The sorbent is structured to allow indoor air to flow therein with relatively low flow resistance and relatively rapid reaction kinetics. Sierteelt zag export instorten, maar krabbelt (ook door Moederdag) weer op

Het gaat na de eerste, zware klap van de coronacrisis beter dan verwacht met de sierteelt in Nederland. Maar uit de problemen is de branche allerminst. En dat heeft ook te maken met de impact op de bloemenhandel in maart, toen de veiligheidsmaatregelen wereldwijd van kracht werden.

Michel van Schie, woordvoerder van branchevereniging Royal FloraHolland herinnert het zich nog goed. "Het ging 13 maart in een klap heel erg fout, toen bleef 25 procent onverkocht. De maandag erop zelfs 50 procent."

Met name de export stortte in. Er werden rond een kwart minder bloemen geëxporteerd. Vooral de vraag uit Italië, maar ook de VS en Zwitserland viel enorm terug. Dat blijkt uit cijfers die het CBS vandaag publiceert.

Nederlandse siertelers moeten het juist van de export hebben. "De verhouding voor de verkoop is 15 procent binnenland, 85 export", zegt Van Schie. De exportwaarde bedroeg vorig jaar 9,5 miljard euro: sierteelt is daarmee het meest uitgevoerde landbouwproduct van Nederland.

Inmiddels lijkt de schade enigszins mee te vallen." "De handel is behoorlijk aangetrokken", ziet Marco van Zijverden, directeur van de Dutch Flower Group. Dat is een samenwerking van 33 bedrijven die samen de sierteeltketen bedienen. "Waar we in maart op indexen zaten van min 40 tot 80 procent, is het nu tussen de min 10 en min 20 procent."

"De luchtvracht is wel een probleem", zegt Van Zijverden. "Die is erg duur. Zowel voor de aanvoer van Afrika naar hier, als de export van hier naar bijvoorbeeld de VS."

Michel van Schie van Royal FloraHolland legt uit hoe dat komt. "Normaal gaan veel bloemen mee in het vrachtruim van passagiersvliegtuigen. Maar veel van die vluchten zijn gecanceld. Transport is daardoor relatief duur: soms wel drie of vier keer de normale prijs."

Toch is directeur Van Zijverden over de hele linie optimistisch. "De consument blijft kopen. Ook in Duitsland, Engeland en heel Scandinavië. De pijn is minder dan vooraf gevreesd."

Dat merkt ook rozenkweker Arie van den Berg uit Delfgauw. "Bloemetjes werden bezorgd bij ziekenhuizen en opa en oma. De afzet hier is nog relatief hoog geweest."

En helpt het dat het morgen Moederdag is? "Moederdag is altijd de belangrijkste week van het jaar", zegt Van Schie., "We zitten niet op het niveau van vorig jaar, maar het is wel aangetrokken."

Luxe artikel

"In landen waarvan de grenzen open zijn is de consumptie van bloemen hoger. Ook omdat mensen de tijd hebben om bij hun moeder langs te gaan", constateert rozenkweker Van den Berg. "Overigens zien we hier in Nederland dat de online verkoop is geëxplodeerd. De online winkels hebben nog een uitdaging om alle boeketjes klaar te maken en te bezorgen.

Maar het einde van de zware tijden is nog niet in zicht. "Het viel minder tegen dan we acht weken geleden hadden ingeschat, maar ik ben pessimistisch", zegt de rozenkweker. "Mensen onderschatten hoe belangrijk een goede economie is voor een rozenteler. Wij zijn een luxe artikel, dus we vallen als eerste van het boodschappenlijstje."

Van den Berg heeft nog niet gehoord van collega's die failliet zijn gegaan. "Misschien ook omdat de banken goed meewerken met leningen en aflossingen. Maar er gaan collega's en afnemers sneuvelen als dit langer aanhoudt."

Zorgen over oplopende armoede door corona: 'Alle seinen staan op rood'

Hulporganisaties maken zich zorgen over de oplopende armoede door de coronacrisis. Zij zien de vraag naar hulp, waaronder voedselpakketten, toenemen. Eerder meldde het Nibud al dat een vijfde van de Nederlanders door de coronacrisis een inkomstenterugval ervaart. Het gaat vooral om jongeren, zelfstandigen en flexwerkers.

Veel nieuwe gezichten

Michael is een van die nieuwe werklozen. Hij werkte als uitzendkracht net op Schiphol op de bagageafhandeling. "Mijn contract werd niet verlengd. Door de coronacrisis moesten alle uitzendkrachten eruit. Dus dan ben je werkloos."

Hij maakt gebruik van voedselpakketten die worden uitgedeeld door Trijntje Aarden en haar man. Al 16 jaar deelt het stel in Zoetermeer eten uit aan gezinnen die dat nodig hebben. Sinds 2019 zijn ze een stichting, Stichting Oosterfaantje.

Sinds de uitbraak van de coronacrisis ziet Trijntje veel nieuwe gezichten, vertelt ze:

"Een eerste inventarisatie leert dat de vraag naar non-food, zoals leermiddelen en kleding, licht toeneemt," zegt Teije Brandsma van het armoedefonds, waar 700 organisaties bij zijn aangesloten. "De vraag naar voedsel is sterker gegroeid, vooral door mensen die net buiten de criteria van de voedselbank vallen." Het fonds verwacht komende week met cijfers te komen over de gestegen hulpvraag.

Vooral in de eerste twee weken van de crisis zag directeur Veerle Rooze van Stichting Ido Schuldhulpverlening Lelystad veel meer toestroom. "In de supermarkt was het huismerk door hamsteren uitverkocht en het A-merk te duur, dus klopten mensen die het normaal net redden aan voor voedselhulp. Verder leverden we in die weken noodhulp aan nieuwe gezichten. Bijvoorbeeld mensen die een contractje als schoonmaker hadden dat opgezegd werd toen de lockdown begon."

Nadja Jungmann, lector schulden aan de Hogeschool Utrecht, krijgt van verschillende kanten signalen over toenemende armoede en oplopende schulden. "Hulpverleners die ik spreek maken zich zorgen, vooral over jongvolwassenen en zzp'ers. Bij wijkteams staan alle seinen op rood over toenemende armoede. Dat gaat om mensen die geen eten kunnen betalen, maar er zijn ook zorgen over eenzaamheid en stress."

Het steunpakket van de overheid helpt veel mensen, ziet Jungmann. "Maar het is een pakket op hoofdlijnen, en er zijn altijd mensen die tussen wal en schip vallen. Denk aan de ondernemer met hoge huurlasten die wel een tegemoetkoming krijgt voor zijn personeel, maar z'n eigen salaris inlevert om de vaste lasten te blijven betalen. Of iemand die werkte bij een bedrijf dat failliet is gegaan."

Joke de Kock, manager schuldhulpverlening bij de gemeente Tilburg, verwacht dat de grote stroom richting schuldhulp over een paar maanden begint. "Er zijn nu mensen die terugvallen in hun inkomen en daardoor te maken gaan krijgen met rekeningen die ze niet kunnen betalen, maar het duurt altijd even voordat mensen zich echt bij ons melden", zegt De Kock. "Dat gebeurt meestal pas als ze een paar maanden betalingsachterstand hebben, en ze eerst een maand of drie middelen van de ene naar de andere kant hebben geschoven."

Verkeerde prikkel

Ze hoopt dat mensen vroeg aan de bel trekken. Met woningcorporaties heeft gemeente Tilburg ook een afspraak: als ze de huur missen van iemand die normaal gesproken wel betaalt, gaan de gemeente en de woningcorporatie daar samen achteraan. "Zo proberen we direct contact met hen op te nemen en er snel bij te zijn. Een maand huur missen is namelijk een heel groot probleem."

"Het is aan de ene kant fijn dat deurwaarders nu coulant zijn en dat je uitstel van betaling van je hypotheek kan krijgen, maar dat geeft de verkeerde prikkel", zegt De Kock. "Het moet later toch allemaal terugbetaald worden."
