ration Final fabrication and calibration steps for hierarchically elaborated phased-array antenna and subarray manufacturing process By www.freepatentsonline.com Published On :: Thu, 29 Jun 2017 08:00:00 EDT A process writes phase shift error correction values into a phased-array antenna to normalize a range of manufacturing variances. An axial ratio is determined for an antenna weight vector (AWV) by making multiple measurements with the horn of a test antenna mechanically rotating from 0 to 180 degree or with dual polarization test antenna. For calibration of the whole array, each subarray is treated in the same fashion as equivalent to an antenna element in the subarray calibration. The subarray is electronically rotated as a whole (all elements rotated by the same phase shift value) from 0 to 360 degree during the full array calibration. Due to small power variation among AWVs, calibration solely by REV results fail to consistently converge to resolution. Accordingly, the apparatus measures and compares axial ratios. During final fabrication, the apparatus programs an AWV with best axial ratio into each non-transitory array element. Full Article

ration FLASH ANALOG-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTER CALIBRATION By www.freepatentsonline.com Published On :: Thu, 22 Jun 2017 08:00:00 EDT An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is a device that can include a reference shuffler and a loop filter. An ADC can achieve better performance with incremental adjustment of a pointer of the reference shuffler, changing coefficients of the loop filter, and storing calibration codes of the ADC in a non-volatile memory. By incrementally adjusting a pointer of the reference shuffler, a calibration can be performed more efficiently than with a random adjustment of the pointer. By temporarily changing the loop filter coefficients, a greater amount of activity can be introduced into the loop filter. This activity can allow the calibration to proceed more efficiently. By storing the calibration codes in a non-volatile memory, a search space for calibration codes can be reduced. Thus, a calibration can occur more quickly, and the calibration itself can be improved. ration FREQUENCY-DOMAIN ADC FLASH CALIBRATION By www.freepatentsonline.com Published On :: Thu, 22 Jun 2017 08:00:00 EDT A flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) includes comparators that convert an analog input signal to a digital output signal. Offsets of these comparators introduce noise and can hurt the performance of the ADC. Thus, these comparators are calibrated using calibration codes. Conventional calibration methods determine these calibration codes by removing the ADC from an input signal. Otherwise, it is difficult to distinguish the noise from the signal in the calibration measurement. In contrast, an embodiment can determine the calibration codes while the ADC converts the input signal to a digital signal. Such an embodiment can be achieved by a frequency-domain technique. In an embodiment employing a frequency-domain power meter, an input signal can be removed from the power measurement. This removal enables accurate measurement of in-band noise without having the measurement be corrupted by input signal power. Full Article

ration INTELLIGENT BIONIC EXPECTORATION SYSTEM By www.freepatentsonline.com Published On :: Thu, 22 Jun 2017 08:00:00 EDT An intelligent bionic expectoration system and a three-way device thereof. The intelligent bionic expectoration system includes a negative pressure suction module, a central processing module, a patient interface unit and a respiratory muscle synchronous motion module. The central processing module controls two valves to open or close, closing one valve while opening another valve, and controls the respiratory muscle synchronous motion module. The patient interface unit is connected to the positive pressure ventilation module and the negative pressure suction module, allowing positive or negative pressure airflow to flow by, depending on which valve is open, so as to allow airflow to flow in or out of the lung. The respiratory muscle synchronous motion module can employ nerve stimulation and mechanical pushing, and acts synchronously as the airflow moves, thereby simulating human coughing and achieves bionic expectoration.
