How to see placement reasons of cells? How to highlight timing start/end points?

I am working with innovus on a huge design. I found some cells are placed far away from both timing start points and timing end points. I suspect some other timing paths may be near-critical that results in this sub-optimal cell placement; or innovus has to place the cell far away due to congestion of placement or routing.

Is there a way to see why innovus places/moves the cell during place_opt_design or ccopt_design?

Also, is there a way to highlight all timing start points or timing end points that go through a cell? There may be thousands of timing paths through this cell. I tried using report_timing and timing debugger but it is very painful to click the highlight box and highlight the timing paths one by one.

Thank you for your help!

Destructive form of "cons" - efficiently prepending an item to a procedure's argument which is a list

Hello,

I was looking to destructively and efficiently modify a list that was passed in as an argument to a procedure, by prepending an item to the list.

I noticed that cons lets you do this efficiently, but the operation is non-destructive. Hence this wouldn't work if you are trying to modify a function's list parameter in place.

Here is an example of trying to add "0" to the front of a list:

procedure( attempt_to_prepend_list(l elem)
    l = cons(elem l)
)
a = list(1 2 3)
==> (1 2 3)
attempt_to_prepend_list(a 0)
==> (0 1 2 3)
a
==> (1 2 3)
As we can see, the original list is not prepended.
Here is a function though which achieves the desired result while being efficient. Namely, the following function does not create any new lists and only uses fast methods like cons, rplacd, and rplaca
procedure( prepend_list(l elem)
    ; cons(car(l) cdr(l)) results in a new list with the car(l) duplicated
    ; we then replace the cdr of l so that we are now pointing to this new list
    rplacd(l cons(car(l) cdr(l)))

    ; we replace the previously duplicated car(l) with the element we want
    rplaca(l elem)
)
a = list(1 2 3)
==> (1 2 3)
prepend_list(a 0)
==> (0 1 2 3)
a
==> (0 1 2 3)
This works for me, but I find it surprising there is no built-in function to do this. Am I perhaps overlooking something in the documentation? I know that tconc is an efficient and destructive way to append items to the end of a list, but there isn't an equivalent for the front of the list?

Measuring DDJ (data dependent jitter). Cross function on eye-diagram

Hi,
My Virtuoso and Spectre Version: ICADVM20.1-64b.NYISR30.2
I plot an eye diagram using a built in function. I want to see the data-dependent jitter. I want to measure the eye diagram edges at zero crossing (width of that diamond part) shown in the pic by vertical and horizontal markers. I can put a marker and read the numbers there and get what I want. But now I want to run Monte Carlo and I can't do this for all samples. I wish I could write an expression for this. Unfortunately, I see that the function "cross" is not working on the eye diagram. Basically, when I send the eye diagram data to a table, I see that it actually is just the prbs data and not the eye diagram data. Is there a hack that can help me achieve my goal which is: having an expression to measure the edges of the eye diagram at zero crossing?
There is a script that Andrew wrote (https://support.cadence.com/wps/mypoc/cos?uri=deeplinkmin%3AViewSolution%3BsolutionNumber%3D11395772). This is a good script but it puts all edges on top of each other. I want to distinguish the two edges. In the attached pic (two-period eye diagram) you can see what I mean by the two edges (diamond shapes). I want to measure each of the two and take the maximum. Having all the edges on top of each other won't give me what I want. All edges together will lso include DCD. I purely want to measure DDJ. DCD is measured separately. I have very little experience with writing scripts and could not modify Andrew's script.
Your help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Test point creation workflow recommendations?

I am trying to figure out the most efficient workflow for adding test points. My use case involves adding ~100 or so SMT pads at the bottom for bed-of-nails ICT test that are required to be on a test point grid. A lot of the nets are on the top or from inner layers and so have to be brought to the bottom using stubs. I'm used to Xpediiton workflow of being able to set a test point padstack, set a test point grid, and then select a net, add the test point to the bottom layer on the grid with that net attached and then route the stub with gridless routing.

In Orcad, it seems I need to route the stub, switch layer pairs to be both bottom once I bring the stub to the bottom and then change the grid to be the test point grid and then add the test point on the grid. It requires a lot of clicks, very mistake prone requiring lots of oops and very slow for 100+ test points to be brought out at the bottom.

I'm sure there is a better way that is used by folks with a lot of Orcad experience. Any suggestions?

Ecuador's vice president suspended amid rift with president

QUITO, ECUADOR — Ecuadoran Vice President Veronica Abad was suspended Saturday for 150 days after being accused of “unjustified abandonment” of her duties. It comes during a public rift between Abad and President Daniel Noboa that could have implications for Ecuador's February elections. Abad's suspension without pay came at midnight, her lawyer Dominique Davila told The Associated Press. Davila called the move “extremely serious” and claimed it may not have any legal backing. Abad was accused by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of not following an order in September to temporarily transfer her from Israel — where she also serves as ambassador — to Turkey due to the conflict, arriving eight days after the order. Abad had argued that she was not “properly prepared” for the trip to Turkey and that Ecuador's government suggested “that I leave my children in Israel to go to Turkey alone.” The move comes at a time of deep tensions between Abad and Noboa who, despite running the government together, have clashed for years, establishing a sort of feud, the origins of which are unknown. In August, Abad filed a legal complaint accusing Noboa and other officials of gender-based violence. The suspension was the second sanction against Abad in less than a week. Abad was also fined $8,500 on Tuesday by Ecuador’s Electoral Disputes Tribunal for early election campaigning in 2023, when she was a candidate for mayor of Cuenca. The vice president has previously cited the Israel case and other incidents as government measures to pressure her to resign, while the president has called her “disloyal.” Davila said the suspension was the latest attempt to push Abad out, calling it a “trick to prevent the presidential succession” and something they planned to appeal. Abad’s fate has special importance for Noboa, who hopes to run for reelection in February 2025 and will have to request a leave of absence to carry out the campaign, according to experts. In that case, Abad would take over the presidency. But with the recent sanctions, the pathway to her taking the reins would be blocked, according to constitutional lawyer Andre Benavides. The expert said that while the suspension lacks strong legal backing, any appeals process to reverse the 150-day suspension would take longer than the suspension period.

FAA prohibits US airlines from flying to Haiti; UN suspends flights

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — The Federal Aviation Administration announced Tuesday that it will prohibit U.S. airlines from flying to Haiti for 30 days after gangs shot a Spirit Airlines flight. The United Nations also said it will suspend flights, "obviously limiting the flow of humanitarian aid and humanitarian personnel into the country."  The bullets hit the plane when it was about to land Monday in the country's capital, Port-au-Prince, injuring a flight attendant. It was part of a wave of violence that erupted in Haiti as the country swore in its new prime minister after a politically tumultuous process.  Life in much of Haiti's capital was frozen after the wave of violence, which came to a head when gangs shot the Spirit Airlines airplane Monday, forcing the airport to shut down. Photos and videos obtained by The Associated Press show bullet holes dotting the interior of a plane. A number of airlines suspended flights to Haiti through Thursday, but it was unclear how long closures could drag on.  Neither the former interim prime minister, Garry Conille, nor the newly inaugurated Alix Didier Fils-Aime commented on the violence.  But Luis Abinader, who as president of the neighboring Dominican Republic has cracked down on Haitian migration, called firing on the airplane terrorism.  "This was a terrorist act; the countries that are following and helping Haiti should declare these armed gangs as terrorist groups," Abinader said in a news conference.  On Tuesday, heavily armed police in armored cars outside the airport checked trucks used for public transportation passing by.  Schools were closed, as were banks and government offices. The streets, where just a day before gangs and police were locked in a fierce firefight, were eerily empty.  The sound of heavy gunfire was heard in the streets in the afternoon — a reminder that despite political maneuvering by Haiti's elites and a strong push by the international community to restore peace, the country's toxic slate of gangs kept its firm hold on much of the Caribbean nation.  The United Nations estimates that gangs control 85% of the capital. A U.N.-backed mission led by Kenyan police to quell gang violence struggles with a lack of funding and personnel, prompting calls for a U.N. peacekeeping mission.
