Mechanically short multi-carriage impedance tuners use meandering slabline structures. The meandering structure reduces the overall tuner length by a factor of 2.5 at 0.4 GHz. The critical issue of slabline bends is addressed with several low loss, low reflection alternatives. A preferred configuration comprises a vertical-horizontal slabline transition. Cable connections are discarded because of reflections and insertion loss. Measured results show acceptable performance. The tuner is mostly interesting for relatively lower microwave frequencies, such as 1 GHz.

A tuft carrier loading apparatus (10) for loading individual tufts (17) into tuft retention sites (9a) spaced along an elongate tuft carrier (9). A controller (60) is provided for controlling selection of the tuft feeders (50), the controller (60) being operable to actuate selected tuft feeders (50) to feed tufts to those tuft retention sites (9a) in registry therewith whilst the carrier (9) is located at each successive position. A detector is associated with each tuft retention site (9a) to detect the presence of a tuft. The driver (70), on detection of an absent tuft in a tuft retention site (9a) following actuation of one or more selected tuft feeders (50) resulting in failure to feed a tuft to the absent tuft retention site (9a), is operable to move the tuft carrier (9) into a position whereat the absent tuft retention site (9a) is moved temporarily back into registry with the or one selected tuft feeder (50) and the controller (60) re-actuates the selected tuft feeder (50) to feed a tuft to the absent tuft retention site (9a).

There is disclosed an apparatus and a method for progressively forming high strength surgical needles from bulk needle stock material. The apparatus generally includes a series of progressive needle processing stations. A first series of needle processing stations removes material from needle stock material to rough form needle blanks attached to a carrier strip while a second series of processing stations refine the rough formed needle blanks attached to the strip into the desired surgical needles. An apparatus and method for carrying and storing a portion of rope is claimed. A portion of rope is braided and wound about two complementary loops. Attached to one complementary loop is a flexible fastener. The flexible fastener can be passed through the second complementary loop and attached to itself. The apparatus can then be worn as a bracelet. When the rope is needed, the person can unwind the rope. After using the rope, the rope can be rewound and then bound with the flexible fastener.

Funeral container carrying device

A carrier is provided for facilitating the carrying and transportation of a funerary container having a bottom surface, a plurality of side surfaces and a top surface, along with a length and width and interior large enough to accommodate an un-cremated corpse. The carrier includes a base member having a length generally long enough to span the width of the funerary container and a upper surface sized and configured for receiving the bottom surface of the funerary container. An upstanding member has a lower end coupled to the base member and an upper end. The upstanding member extends in a plane generally perpendicular to the base member. A handle member is provided that is coupled to the upstanding member. The handle includes a hand receiving surface engageable by the hand of the user.

Detector with a telescopic carrier/guide rod

A detector with a telescopic carrier/guide rod at which a measuring probe is disposed at one end, wherein the carrier/guide rod features at least two tubes longitudinally movable inside one another, in which respectively two tubes disposed adjacently in radial direction form an outer tube and an inner tube, whereby the respective outer tube at its overlapping tube end facing the measuring probe features a clamping means for engaging the inner tube. In accordance with this invention, the clamping means is formed as a clamping device that features a profile clamp with a quick-locking device. The profile clamp comprises a holding ring with two half shell-shaped clamping ring segments that are interconnected flexibly on one side and on the opposite side they can be clamped together with a clamping lever. The holding ring features ring breakthroughs and the outer tube the corresponding tube breakthroughs for the accommodation of clamping pieces that are pressed against the inner tube when clamping the clamping ring segments together under pressure. Preferably a clamping ring segment is formed on the holding ring.

Arrangement with circuit carrier for an electronic device

An arrangement for an electronic device is disclosed. A plurality of electrically conductive pins is positioned in respective vias of the circuit carrier, the pins extend from a first face of the circuit carrier to a contact end in order to electrically contact one or more components. The arrangement is equipped with an electrically insulating layer on a circuit carrier face, which is the first or a second face, in the region of the pin, the insulating layer having a prefabricated element which is positioned on the face of the circuit carrier. A portion of each pin, the portion being arranged adjacently to the respective via on the face, is surrounded by the material of the insulating layer in a continuously lateral manner.

The invention regards in a first aspect a body-worn/carried pump station comprising a housing having at least one compartment, in said housing having at least a pump, a motor and an internal power supply, where said motor is powered by said internal power supply, and a container comprising material to be pumped, wherein said pump has means for connecting said container, at least one hose connected to said pump in one end and connected to a dispensing means in the other end for dispensing material pumped from the container, control means for start/stop and/or for controlling and/or setting up said pump station, and a display, wherein at least said control means or said display is located remotely from said pump station. The invention regards in second aspect a container connector assembly, comprising: a first connector comprising a first inlet and first outlet, a second connector comprising a second inlet a second outlet, a first mounting means on said first connector for connecting said first connector to a container comprising a container opening, a second mounting means on said first connector for connecting said first connector to second connector, a third mounting means on said second connector for receiving said first connector, a fourth mounting means on said second connector for connecting said second connector to a device comprising a device opening, a valve inside said first connector and/or inside said second connector to be opened and closed, wherein said second and/or third mounting means is configured for connecting said first connector to said second connector by a translational movement of said connector(s), and wherein said translational movement is substantially perpendicular to an axis formed along said first outlet and second inlet when the connectors are connected.
