A method for evaluating the quality of teaching reform based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation

In order to improve the comprehensiveness of evaluation results and reduce errors, a teaching reform quality evaluation method based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is proposed. Firstly, on the premise of meeting the principles of indicator selection, factor analysis is used to construct an evaluation indicator system. Then, calculate the weights of various evaluation indicators through fuzzy entropy, establish a fuzzy evaluation matrix, and calculate the weight vector of evaluation indicators. Finally, the fuzzy cognitive mapping method is introduced to improve the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, obtaining the final weight of the evaluation indicators. The weight is multiplied by the fuzzy evaluation matrix to obtain the comprehensive evaluation result. The experimental results show that the maximum relative error of the proposed method's evaluation results is about 2.0, the average comprehensive evaluation result is 92.3, and the determination coefficient is closer to 1, verifying the application effect of this method.

Many degree courses at technical universities include the subject of control systems engineering. As an addition to conventional approaches Fuzzy Control can be used to easily find control solutions for systems, even if they include nonlinearities. To support further educational training, models which represent a technical system to be controlled are required. These models have to represent the system in a transparent and easy cognizable manner. Furthermore, a programming tool is required that supports an easy Fuzzy Control development process, including the option to verify the results and tune the system behavior. In order to support the development process a graphical user interface is needed to display the fuzzy terms under real time conditions, especially with a debug system and trace functionality. The experiences with such a programming tool, the Fuzzy Control Design Tool (FHFCE Tool), and four fuzzy teaching models will be presented in this paper. The methodical and didactical objective in the utilization of these teaching models is to develop solution strategies using Computational Intelligence (CI) applications for Fuzzy Controllers in order to analyze different algorithms of inference or defuzzyfication and to verify and tune those systems efficiently.

Fast fuzzy C-means clustering and deep Q network for personalised web directories recommendation

This paper proposes an efficient solution for personalised web directories recommendation using fast FCM+DQN. At first, web directory usage file obtained from given dataset is fed into the accretion matrix computation module, where visitor chain matrix, visitor chain binary matrix, directory chain matrix and directory chain binary matrix are formulated. In this, directory grouping is accomplished based on fast FCM and matching among query and group is conducted based on Kumar Hassebrook and Kulczynski similarity. The user preferred directory is restored at this stage and at last, personalised web directories are recommended to the visitors by means of DQN. The proposed approach has received superior results with respect to maximum accuracy of 0.910, minimum mean squared error (MSE) of 0.0206 and root mean squared error (RMSE) of 0.144. Although the system offered magnificent outcomes, it failed to order web directories in the form of highly, medium and low interested directories.

A fuzzy-probabilistic bi-objective mathematical model for integrated order allocation, production planning, and inventory management

An optimisation-based decision-making support is proposed in this study in the form of fuzzy-probabilistic programming, which can be used to solve integrated order allocation, production planning, and inventory management problems in fuzzy and probabilistic uncertain environments. The problem was modelled in an uncertain mathematical optimisation model with two objectives: maximising the expectation of production volume and minimising the expectation of total operational cost subject to demand and other constraints. The model belongs to fuzzy-probabilistic bi-objective integer linear programming, and the generalised reduced gradient method combined with the branch-and-bound algorithm was utilised to solve the derived model. Numerical simulations were performed to illustrate how the optimal decision was formulated. The results showed that the proposed decision-making support was successful in providing the optimal decision with the maximum expectation of the production volume and minimum expectation of the total operational cost. Therefore, the approach can be implemented by decision-makers in manufacturing companies.

Fuzzy Logic and the Market: A Configurational Approach to Investor Perceptions of Acquisition Announcements

Prior research on mergers and acquisitions (M&As) has substantially advanced our understanding of how isolated acquirer- and deal-specific factors affect abnormal returns. However, investors are likely to perceive and evaluate M&As holistically—that is, as complex configurations (i.e., Gestalts) of characteristics, rather than as a list of independent factors. Yet, extant M&A literature has not addressed why and how configurations of factors elicit positive or negative reactions. In other words, overlooking the interdependent nature of factors known to influence acquisition success has limited our understanding of both M&As and investor judgment. Taking an inductive approach to addressing this important issue, this study relies on fuzzy set methodology. Our results provide compelling evidence that investor perceptions of M&A announcements are not only configurational in nature but also characterized by equifinality - or the presence of multiple paths to success - and asymmetric causality - that is, configurations that represent bad deals are not simply a mirror image of good deals, but differ fundamentally. By constructing a typology of "good" and "bad" deals as perceived by market participants, we develop a mid-range theory of M&A stock market performance. As such, this study offers novel theoretical and empirical insights to scholars, and implications for practitioners.

Similarity measure, also called information measure, is a concept used to distinguish different objects. It has been studied from different contexts by employing mathematical, psychological, and fuzzy approaches. Image steganography is the art of hiding secret data into an image in such a way that it cannot be detected by an intruder. In image steganography, hiding secret data in the plain or non-edge regions of the image is significant due to the high similarity and redundancy of the pixels in their neighborhood. However, the similarity measure of the neighboring pixels, i.e., their proximity in color space, is perceptual rather than mathematical. This paper proposes an interval type 2 fuzzy logic system (IT2 FLS) to determine the similarity between the neighboring pixels by involving an instinctive human perception through a rule-based approach. The pixels of the image having high similarity values, calculated using the proposed IT2 FLS similarity measure, are selected for embedding via the least significant bit (LSB) method. We term the proposed procedure of steganography as IT2 FLS LSB method. Moreover, we have developed two more methods, namely, type 1 fuzzy logic system based least significant bits (T1FLS LSB) and Euclidean distance based similarity measures for least significant bit (SM LSB) steganographic methods. Experimental simulations were conducted for a collection of images and quality index metrics, such as PSNR, UQI, and SSIM are used. All the three steganographic methods are applied on datasets and the quality metrics are calculated. The obtained stego images and results are shown and thoroughly compared to determine the efficacy of the IT2 FLS LSB method. Finally, we have done a comparative analysis of the proposed approach with the existing well-known steganographic methods to show the effectiveness of our proposed steganographic method.
