With a little planning and preparation you can impress your family and friends with a beautiful and healthy menu perfectly suited to our climate - and which allows maximum time for the more important tasks of socialising, opening presents and enjoying the spirit of Christmas. King prawns, fresh fish, salads and seasonal fruit are ideal for Christmas lunch. Cooking time is minimal, the aromas of the char-grill enticing, everything is light and fresh. Combine this with some pre-prepared zesty dressings and sauces and perhaps a platter of leg ham and Christmas 2001 will take on a whole new flavour. For dessert, look to cherries served on ice or perhaps plums, paw-paw, apricots, pineapple, strawberries or blueberries. Goat's cheese, cheddar or blue cheese would be an ideal finale, especially when teamed with a sticky dessert wine. Lash out on handmade chocolates to go with coffee. A summer juice of melon, lime and mint is health-giving and goes well with seafood. However, I will start with a sparkling shiraz or Champagne and enjoy a fruity riesling or pinot with the barbecued fish. Merry Christmas.

This report provides an overview of the implementation of the Water plan (Mary Basin) 2006 and summarises the findings of the assessments undertaken for the last five years. This researchprojectimplemented a randomizedcontrolledtrial ofthe SEAM program in Terms 3 and 4 ofthe 2016 school year. The purpose of the study was to determine the effects of the SEAM program. The study enrolled 448 treatment group students who were referred to SATOs for potential SEAM intervention, and 448 matched control group students who were not referred to SATOs. Approximately one-third of treatment group students received a compulsory conference notice, approximately one-third of treatment students' families signed an attendance plan, about 20% had a compulsory conference take place, and payment was suspended for approximately 5% of treatment students. No significant differences following any of these interventions were observed between treatment and control students.

Abstract:
In this paper, we present a novel methodology to perform Bayesian model selection in linear models with heavy-tailed distributions. We consider a finite mixture of distributions to model a latent variable where each component of the mixture corresponds to one possible model within the symmetrical class of normal independent distributions. Naturally, the Gaussian model is one of the possibilities. This allows for a simultaneous analysis based on the posterior probability of each model. Inference is performed via Markov chain Monte Carlo—a Gibbs sampler with Metropolis–Hastings steps for a class of parameters. Simulated examples highlight the advantages of this approach compared to a segregated analysis based on arbitrarily chosen model selection criteria. Examples with real data are presented and an extension to censored linear regression is introduced and discussed.

Increasing number of sectors which affect human lives, are using Machine Learning (ML) tools. Hence the need for understanding their working mechanism and evaluating their fairness in decision-making, are becoming paramount, ushering in the era of Explainable AI (XAI). In this contribution we introduced a few intrinsically interpretable models which are also capable of dealing with missing values, in addition to extracting knowledge from the dataset and about the problem. These models are also capable of visualisation of the classifier and decision boundaries: they are the angle based variants of Learning Vector Quantization. We have demonstrated the algorithms on a synthetic dataset and a real-world one (heart disease dataset from the UCI repository). The newly developed classifiers helped in investigating the complexities of the UCI dataset as a multiclass problem. The performance of the developed classifiers were comparable to those reported in literature for this dataset, with additional value of interpretability, when the dataset was treated as a binary class problem.

People learn to discriminate between classes without explicit exposure to negative examples. On the contrary, traditional machine learning algorithms often rely on negative examples, otherwise the model would be prone to collapse and always-true predictions. Therefore, it is crucial to design the learning objective which leads the model to converge and to perform predictions unbiasedly without explicit negative signals. In this paper, we propose a Collectively loss function to learn from only Positive and Unlabeled data (cPU). We theoretically elicit the loss function from the setting of PU learning. We perform intensive experiments on the benchmark and real-world datasets. The results show that cPU consistently outperforms the current state-of-the-art PU learning methods.
